## What is Pura?

Make better choices every time you shop. Pura is a personal AI ingredient scanner.

Pura reads the ingredients list on food, cosmetics and supplements, and tells you in about five seconds what it means for you specifically.

You already turn the packet over. The problem is that "sodium metabisulfite" tells you nothing, and the only part written in plain language is the part trying to sell you something. Tell Pura once what you and your family care about, and every scan comes back as a straight answer about this product, for this person.

WORKS ON PRODUCTS NO DATABASE KNOWS
Pura reads what is actually printed on the label, not a barcode lookup. So it works on local brands, small producers, and whatever you picked up on holiday.

FOR EVERYONE IN THE HOUSE
Add a profile for each person, with their allergies, health conditions and preferences, plus anything you want to avoid in your own words. Switch who you are scanning for before you take the photo. Results name which of their entries a product conflicts with, so a warning is never mysterious.

A SCORE THAT SHOWS ITS WORKING
Every score comes with the reasons behind it. Where a category has a ceiling, Pura says so, because a chocolate bar being the best chocolate bar on the shelf does not make it a good product. Food, cosmetics and supplements are judged on separate criteria.

CLAIMS ON THE FRONT
Pura checks claims like "all natural" or "no added sugar" against what the ingredients actually show.

ASK A FOLLOW UP
Ask how often your child can have something, or what to look for instead.

COMPARE TWO PRODUCTS
Standing between two options, scan both and see which one fits your profile better, and why.

HONEST ABOUT ITS LIMITS
Pura tells you how much of a label it managed to read. It will never tell you a product is safe for an allergy, because cross contamination and unlisted ingredients cannot be seen on a label. It is a reading tool, not a medical device.

PRICING
Your first scan is free. Pura Premium then starts with a 3 day free trial on the annual plan, after which it is an auto renewing subscription with 250 personalized scans per month, available weekly or annually. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Your free trial becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Manage or cancel any time in your Apple ID settings.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.5 — 2026-08-16

Sharper close-ups, and a lot more honesty about what went wrong.

Focus: On phones with a macro-capable camera, Pura now uses it. Getting close to a
small ingredients list should stay sharp instead of blurring.

Better failures: When a label cannot be read, Pura now records why, so we can tell a blurry
photo apart from a shot of the barcode and actually fix the right thing.

3 days free: The annual plan now starts with a 3 day free trial. The paywall states the
trial length, what happens when it ends, and the price, in that order.

Under the hood: Timing is now measured in parts rather than as one number, so we can find
where the wait actually goes instead of guessing.

### 1.0.4 — 2026-08-15

Pura has a new look and a rewritten scoring system.

New scoring
The absence of something bad no longer earns points. A product whose only
merits are things it does not contain cannot score well. Food, cosmetics
and supplements are now judged separately: a supplement is measured by the
form and dose of what is in it, not by how short its label is.

The same product scores the same twice
Scan something twice and you see the same result.

Results
The score now shows its reasoning underneath. Where a category has a
ceiling, it says so. Concerns carry their reason, not just a name.

The part that is about you
When nothing on your profile appears in a product, Pura says so and tells
you how much of the label it read. It also says plainly what no label can
show.

Faster to answer
The response now arrives as it is written, so the product name appears in
about a second.

New look
Paper tones, one typeface, and a camera that is a framed window rather than
a full screen background.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-08-10

Compare 2 products side by side, scan both, get one verdict.
