It’s a full standalone acid creation suite, you don’t really need anything more than this. But you’ll want to get a midi controller with a bunch of knobs on it so you can do the proper twiddling during performances. I wish it had midi thru, or it’s my failure that received midi clock isn’t sent back out the other end. ### 5/5 — Another synth in my collection going up for sale! *2025-06-11* It’s taken me a couple of attempts to get the hang of this app and get it properly synced and stay in time with Ableton. But I finally worked it out and it is wonderful! For my setup, the trick was to use track delay settings in Ableton on the audio track that the iPad is feeding into by -35ms and that seemed to line up the acid bass with my Ableton project pretty tight. Before that it was miles out of sync and sounded rubbish. The real magic for me in this app is being able to set your key of your track and hit the generator button to generate new patterns. I cannot stand dialling in patterns on my hardware 303 synth and this solves that problem beautifully. Very intuitive and fun. Excellent recreation of classic ReBirth set up but brilliantly reimagined for iPad! I can't believe how great this thing is. Gorgeous and clean aesthetic. Great sound. Excellent user interface. It's very easy to lose hours going down the acid wormhole with this baby. I've only had it a couple of hours and I've made like 10 jams so far. Dafür ist die App wirklich perfekt, und mehr mache ich damit auch gar nicht. Schade nur, dass selbst gebastelte Sequenzen nicht zwischen Geräten synchronisiert werden. Love how you can just go on and on changing setting to maintain interest. ### 5/5 — Impeccable Sound Quality *2024-06-26* Honestly one of the best sounding soft synths on iOS alongside Poison. The effects are top notch and really allow you to tame and expand the sound, and most of the muddy low end that you would get on the real deal can more easily be scooped out with tuning up without affecting clarity. One spot for improvement - having a standalone bassline and mixer in the auv3 would be very handy given I sequence and program drums externally. Currently, the drums and sequencer are just extra clutter and cpu to deal with when hosted even though the kits do sound great. Also, why is it possible to record external MIDI input into the bass sequencer, but not the drum sequencer? I want to use this app with external hardware and those things are really limiting. Would be SOOOOOOOOOOO easy for the software engineer making the app to remove that from the GUI and also easy these days to make an alternative icon option in the app prefs. (Suggest a normal smiley face without any “edginess” as most ravers (absolutely the main potential customers) aren’t “edgy” in that way unless they had family issues that need to be addressed through a healing process or need to go to rehab). If the app maker foolishly believes an “edgy” icon will attract some “edgy” younger customers, he is SEVERELY naive and obviously hasn’t heard that mumble rap is the “edgy” music choice of the face tattooed “edgy” younger customers that prefer to pirate apps anyway. This app doesn’t make 808 bass melodies, so is also relatively useless for that genre. ### 4/5 — Not as fun as Rebirth *2025-08-18* The fun about Rebirth is that u could make minimal tunes with bass beat and melody. U could build the foundations of a song. The controls take getting used to but what app doesn’t really? I know it defeats the purpose of the app but having more options both for drums and bass would be so awesome! Moved away from electronica, but have returned recently. I looked at many 303 apps on Mac, but none matched my memory of Rebirth (Phoscyon2 is pretty good though, but 10x the price of Pure Acid). Superb UI, great sounds, nice presets to jump start things. No annoying subscriptions, which I rarely acquiesce to. Great price. Just get it! Oh, and as always, Slava Ukraini! Since the war began, I’ve discovered that many of my favourite apps are written by Ukrainians. Programming the original or the clones is not for the faint of heart. Pure Acid offers screen to create patterns as well as keys. So much to tweak, add fx to drums and bass, control the dry/wet and there are fx kill switches. The preset patterns are incredible. Better than anything I could make. Tweaking the parameters brings me a lot of joy. I have the Behringer TD3 & RD6. This app is way better. I have mapped to Novetion XL Control to have hardware engagement. Even without hardware mapping, it’s fantastic. Jim Audio is a fantastic designer. The depth of his passion for electronic music shows in the way this apps allow creativity. Highly recommend ### 5/5 — Best TB-303 App *2025-11-22* There’s so many things you can make with this app if you know how to program it, it has all the features you could want, my only suggestion is to add the drum samples of the TR-727 and LinnDrum, other than that this app is a masterpiece ### 5/5 — Born Again *2025-08-23* I was too late to get the Rebirth app before it was pulled, so I’ve been looking for something similar. This app is an improvement over Rebirth in many ways, especially in how it modernizes the programming process. I was wondering how the included examples got the sweeping effect, as you cannot record knob movements. The method here is to use the LFO. Set it at a low rate and it will give a nice sweeping effect to the bass line. Also included are conditionals to do things like having a crash cymbal only sound on the first of four times a pattern plays (1:4). Couldn’t find that covered online, so it took me a while to figure that out. This app is VERY well designed. ### 5/5 — AWESPLENDID®™ *2025-07-01* The whole app is nothing less than phenomenal.
