Pure Bible Search finds words in the King James Bible the way a concordance does — by looking them up, not by reading through the text. Type a word and its every occurrence is already counted: 973 for "Jesus", 64,041 for "the", all 790,849 words of the 1769 text indexed and waiting. Because it is a concordance, the app can offer only the words that genuinely come next. Type "in the beg" and it will finish "beginning"; type a word no verse ever follows, and it tells you the phrase is finished. Where a total is one of the numbers worth naming, the app prints the arithmetic beside it — 343 (7x7x7), 2,331 (777x3), 1,989 (153x13) — from a table written by hand, so nothing decorates a coincidence. Tap any word to see exactly where it falls: its ordinal in the verse, the chapter, the book, the testament and the whole Bible, with the letters, vowels and consonants counted. Go opens the reader there, with the word lit when you counted words. Move. A compass on the reader's bar counts from the verse at the top of the screen: back or forward, so many words, verses, chapters or books, and the answer as you type it: "147 verses before Psalms 103:1 is Psalms 91:8". "From here next" counts on from the answer. The word sheet can move from an exact word. A move counts flips, not places, and starts at the start of the unit it moves by, so five books back from Revelation 12:6 is 2 Peter 1:1. They are the two questions this app can ask that the desktop cannot, and they are now on the search screen from the start. Under each phrase, one line answers the question most often asked of it: "Jesus" occurs 973 times, 777 of them whole words with nothing after them. Tap it for the full set of marks. Text type is its own screen now, with every attribute named for what it means — red letter, words of Christ; italics, supplied words — and a running count behind it as you choose. Tap a word while reading and you can search for it: the word goes into a cleared search box, ready to narrow. That sheet also remembers which half you had open, the counts or Webster's, rather than shutting both for every word. A long result has a way back. Scroll well down and a button appears that returns you to the top in one tap. Search Within keeps your selection however you leave it, by the back button or the swipe. No Done button to remember. Where to search, how the phrases must fall together and which text counts now sit together in one panel instead of scattered across the screen. Fixes: the collapse arrow works while the keyboard is up, and scrolling the results no longer folds the search controls away mid-swipe. ### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-06 Total overhaul of the main screen user interface. Much easier and less confusing to select books, italics, red letters. The option for extended searches is now built-in and works for all searches.
