Hope to see an update that fixes this problem because it really does sound amazing and the UI aesthetic is really nice ### 4/5 — Pure Piano Plugin Review *2026-07-17* This app is genuinely amazing, I love the sound of the piano and the fact that you can adjust it to your liking. My only issue is that I’ve recorded tracks using the plugin in my DAW, but it tends to crash, sometimes it won’t even replay the MIDI files that I’ve recorded and claims I have no storage when I actually do. It’s crashed on me multiple times, failed to produce sound from the MIDI files inside the DAW and there’s been no update to fix this problem, which is shame for a paid product. That being said I still love the app and intend to keep using it, I’ve produced unique and beautiful tracks with it before, but honestly speaking, I hope they fix this issue soon. Honestly, it doesn’t sound all that good either. I’ve read tons of reviews and articles that portray this as one of the best sounding piano apps on iOS. I don’t see it. I don’t have a problem paying for quality software, but this is worthless for me. ***Update So the latest update fixes the crashing issue that I had. Da kommt beim Spielen richtig Freude auf, und die Ohren werden schlichtweg verwöhnt. Einen einzigen Verbesserungsvorschlag hätte ich: Wäre es machbar, dass die zusätzlichen Geräusche der Tastenanschläge und der Betätigung des Pedals optional anzuwählen sind? Vor allem mit Kopfhörer stören mich diese Geräusche beim Spielen doch immer wieder, und das, obwohl ich auch ein sehr altes, akustisches Klavier spiele, das auch ähnliche Geräusche macht, die mich aber bei weitem nicht so stören. Das Feature wird bestimmt von vielen geschätzt, dennoch wäre es super, wenn man es an- und ausschalten könnte. Sonst bleibt mir nur noch zu sagen: Danke für diese klangvolle, einmalige App! **Developer response:** Vielen Dank für das freundliche Feedback. Die Lautstärke der Geräusche ist einstellbar. Dazu wählt man auf der linken Display-Seite einfach das untere der drei Symbole in der Mitte (Wellenform) und dann auf der rechten Seite ebenfalls das untere (drei Schieberegler). Die einzelnen Lautstärken der mechanischen Geräusche können dann nach Belieben eingestellt werden. ### 5/5 — Pure sensation *2024-12-31* Enfin des sonorités qui tiennent la route, en tout cas des échantillonnages super réalistes qui n’ont rien à envier à un vrai piano à queue. C’est fluide, mordant et chatoyant à la fois, dans un spectre proche des steinways. The missing fifth is because when using it as a plugin with other iPad apps, it often fails on multiple instances and won’t load. Really problematic in a performance situation to have to close all apps. Don’t have this problem with other piano apps. Should have a dedicated plugin mode to prevent this **Developer response:** We are happy, that you like our instrument! Concerning the loading of multiple instances: this depends on the available app memory, which is distributed by the system and varies on different devices. We have made a great effort to prevent crashing, when too many instances are opened by the user. We just released version 3.1.7, which optimises the way of handling multiple instances further - please try it.  To lower the memory footprint of Pure Piano, you can use Voice Mode 'eco' (we then recommend to turn off Liquid Morph). Also freezing tracks is an option in many mobile DAWs. Nevertheless, if many apps and auv3s are opened at the same time, apps which have been started before can be shut down by the system. ### 4/5 — Really close *2024-11-13, version 3.0* String harmonics, are a nice upgrade, but I’d very much like to see chord readouts, and a much simpler and quicker way to transpose ### 3/5 — Not working as auv3 plugin *2024-10-26, version 3.0* Good sounds but it crashes as Auv3 plugin. If i use more than 2 instances, the app crashes, so sadly a lost my money. For solo playing it works, nothing more. ### 5/5 — Excellent Piano *2024-10-25* Very responsive, even when driven just by midi sequencers in AUM. Recommended. ### 4/5 — Almost perfect! *2024-10-18* The sound quality of the instrument is outstanding. The ability to tailor the sound for various environments, from intimate to live, to outlandishly over-processed, is what really makes this virtual instrument shine. The only downside from a pianist standpoint is how the pedal dynamics work. There is no option for a continuous pedal controller to allow for effects like half pedaling or pedal catching, where you play a base note and release it, but immediately catch it with the pedal. The pedal is either 100% depressed or 100% not. This means that some classical pieces are difficult to play, or just unplayable, even if one has a suitable piano action controller to drive the virtual instrument. Hopefully they can add these features and future releases! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — This is not a metronome *2026-03-27* I wanted a simple metronome ### 1/5 — Fundamentally broken *2025-10-16* I just wanted a basic piano app that I could play by tapping to practice solfege. I paid 30 dollars because I wanted something that sounded like a real piano. But the UI for this app is insanely bad. If you try quip taps to mimic staccato playing, half the time it plays staccato and half the time it sustains the note for no reason. It is unbearable. I will file for a return, which I have never done. Just insane to pay 30 dollars for something so bad. **Developer response:** Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that you are having problems with the onscreen keyboard. We can't replicate the behaviour you describe, but have you perhaps accidentally pressed the sustain pedal button, which is located to the left of the keyboard? For 'pure' sound, it is best to position the Morph Pad slider in the centre. You can also try selecting 'Factory Reset' in the Settings menu to revert to the factory defaults. This will help us understand your setup. ### 1/5 — Update V3.2.3 polyphony issue *2025-05-18* Latest version update results in reduced polyphony on my iPhone 7 iOS 15 and note stealing where most recently played notes often do not sound at all. Granted, it’s an older iPhone, but it worked OK on the prior version of the app. Now only about 5 notes can play simultaneously. **Developer response:** We just filed an update (version 3.3) including some further optimisations. These problems can occur on older devices. If you don't need the 'Liquid Morph' feature (which crossfades held chords on the Morph Pad), we recommend turning it off. Wasn’t like this before the update. I have three other piano apps installed and they all work with an external midi keyboard.
