### 3/5 — 2 years playing….what’s next?

*2025-03-14, version 5.5.6*

I’ve finished all of the puzzles in about 2 years, but there hasn’t been a new release or update in that time. Sad to say I’ll be deleting the game, as it seems abandoned by the devs.

For those complaining about having to spend money or not know how many bombs are needed for a puzzle, it’s easy to count, and I didn’t spend any money on the game to help solve puzzles. It’s easy, as far as nonograms go.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the game, it’s only 3 stars due to lack of updates and no further path forward, causing me to delete the game.

### 3/5 — Fun but…

*2023-01-09, version 5.5.6*

No way to disable sound, plus a lot of “pay to play” unless you wait a long time.

### 3/5 — Well

*2022-09-10, version 5.5.6*

I had this game YEARS ago and I love it. I finished it when it wasn’t being updated so I just deleted it. I recently found it again, saw it was getting updated somewhat regularly and was so happy! But now. I can’t get any of my daily rewards for some reason

### 4/5 — Pirate-themed Puzzle Cross

*2021-08-23, version 5.2.4*

I really enjoy this game. However, I takes a lot of resources to play an event, so I pretty much don’t bother with those. I just focus on the daily random puzzles (10/day) and expanding my pirate domain.

### 4/5 — Fun but can get pricy

*2020-12-12, version 5.2.4*

This is simple, addicting, and really fun. Downside is that it can get pricey quickly because tools are used up frequently.

### 3/5 — So Close

*2020-12-04, version 5.2.4*

I was very happy to find just what I was looking for in a nonogram game. This game has the puzzles I love with a meta game outside of the puzzles and abilities to help solve the puzzles. It is the only app I could find that was similar to Pokémon Picross.
Unfortunately, you are very limited on how much you are allowed to play without constant monetary input. I would love to make a reasonable purchase to be able to play as much as I would like. You just have think a moment about what this game is really worth.

### 4/5 — Missing Atlantis levels 11&12?

*2020-10-14, version 5.2.4*

I’ve played this game a ton, and I like it. It would be nice to be able to slide your finger to fill spaces instead of tapping each space. I’ve figured out a safe bet is to store up 1000 pick axes before trying to play an event. However, I cannot get the game makers to tell me where Atlantis levels 11&12 are. I’ve written them a couple times and been ignored. They are missing! The path only goes to 10 (and I’ve completed all those). Good graphics, pretty fun to build your pirate city, just need to be more responsive to customers.

### 4/5 — Great fun!

*2020-07-24, version 5.2.4*

Great game but annoying that bombs don’t replenish quickly so you either have to wait or pay for them

### 4/5 — Overall love the game!

*2019-12-03, version 5.2.4*

I have been playing for a while and haven’t needed to pay anything which I like. Some times it seems like it takes forever to get chickens and coins but they go a long way when I get enough of them. There is the option to buy what I need but if I am willing to wait I can get it with out paying for it. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because pick axes are not easy to come by but is required for the events. It is also not clear how many is needed for each level of the event and if you have to back out of the event you loose your progress and all the pick axes you have used. I don’t want to pay for them which means I have never been able to complete the events.

### 3/5 — I enjoy it but...

*2019-09-21, version 5.2.4*

There needs to be something on the Atlantis puzzles to help players out. Even just listing the minimum number of bombs needed to complete each section would help. The earlier puzzles you can get through reasonably, but you have to save up 400 or so bombs to do one Atlantis section. To even things out a little, I’d suggest doing some of the following:
•List the minimum number of bombs needed for each section
•Change the cost of colors (1,2,3,...) instead of (1,3,5...)
•Don’t have to restart if you run out of bombs in the middle of the puzzle
•If you run out of bombs and have to restart, you get back the bombs you used.

### 4/5 — Nice to keep ur mind sharp

*2019-09-20, version 5.2.4*

Cool to play with extra “coins” but need to add how many in line like 7 X 7 or 9 X 9 so I don’t need to count every time I play. 👍

### 4/5 — Upgrade

*2019-09-07, version 5.2.4*

I had finished all levels before the upgrade so it was nice to have new levels (buildings) but now it just shows “buy a tier 3 Bomb pack”. I can go no further yet again.

I had previously finished all Atlantis levels but it doesn’t show as complete even though I can’t redo the levels to clear them out.

Lastly, it would be nice on the special level (food this month) if it would show when the levels are completed. You have to build up on pick axes and you don’t want to waste them on redoing a level you have already completed. Plus you get no prize for finishing the entire pack.

### 3/5 — Very good in many ways, but very flawed too

*2019-08-19, version 5.2.4*

This game is a fun nonagram/picross puzzler with several different modes. As you progress you unlock animated cartoon pirates as they develop their settlement.

Yet, some gripes - the game will let you start a puzzle with insufficient bombs/pick axes/whatever, then after you use them it will tell you there's nothing more you can do without paying real cash for items. If you revert back to the island to wait until the bombs or pick axes are manufactured from buildings it forces you to lose all the progress in that puzzle.

Where this is especially capricious is with the monthly events and Atlantis puzzles where each square you place costs multiple units of the "currency" - even 12x - but the puzzle only informs at the start how many squares are to be filled, not how much it will "cost" in terms of game currency. I think this is cruel anyway - why does the Atlantis puzzle start at 3x for the most basic unit? The game seems determined to scam people - even those who paid to get rid of ads - out of their bombs and pick axes.

I also wish the game would let you touch and drag to multi-select rather than single tap.

I've completed all the common and legendary puzzles and don't find the Atlantis ones or the monthly events really that much fun due to the unclear colour shades and the grossly excessive multipliers that swindle you out of your in-game currency.

### 3/5 — Challenging but need to wait too long

*2019-05-18, version 5.2.2*

Puzzles are fun and can be challenging but if you make a mistake waiting for chickens takes far too long

### 3/5 — Ad-O-Rama

*2019-05-11, version 5.2.1*

The upgrade was pretty cool! You have more options to earn prizes over time and you can play a lot. But just recently (yesterday and today) they’re interrupting with ad after ad after ad. I don’t mind a few ads but two in a row while you’re playing for legendary treasure and getting NO reward for watching the ad. It’s completely off-putting. Feels like I’m wasting more time on the ads than the game. Why bother? And there’s no option to get rid of them, like paying to have them permanently removed.

### 2/5 — Good but not worth the time or money

*2019-05-05, version 5.2*

The game itself is fun but the as the puzzles get bigger (and more interesting) the cost of playing the games go up. A 5x5 puzzle will cost you 15-25 bombs but a 7x7 will cost 30-50. Huge step up and it just gets worse.

Also when trying to construct you can start a level with 0 chickens but then it won’t let you attempt any squares making you have to exit. It then costs 3 chickens to try again. You can try again with 3 chickens and then it will do the same thing. Frustrating to say the least.

### 3/5 — Love the game

*2019-04-11, version 5.1.61*

I really enjoy this game but it seems like I am now stuck without paying cash. I had 3 chickens last I collected some, which should allow me to build. I go to play the puzzle to build and I have no chickens. Kinda like bomb counts on the old version. The special ones that changed every month, no matter how many bombs I had, when I went to play it would say I didn’t have any.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Needs complete overhaul

*2022-07-25, version 5.5.6*

I’m not one to leave negative reviews but this game is very poorly executed and the greed of the developers is fully apparent. I play a lot of Nonogram games and many of them offer some advertising in leu, and to waive advertising, it is about 2.99 or 3.99 which I gladly pay for to help support the developers. This demands $10 and the game isn’t worth it. The settings are poor- no zoom or color options for low-vision or colorblind. Also, when clicking on the x’s, the game box itself, keeps moving around. It does not respond well to the Apple Pencil. It is a pity because this game is a great idea but how it is delivered is horrible. The farming materials, like the rooster, it takes at least a day just to get one or two roosters, but to play one game requires 3, so it means waiting 3 days to get 3 roosters. Several times I clicked to play, and it used up my 3 roosters and the game did not open up, so I lost my roosters and have to wait 3 days just to open up one game. The farming for the bombs is alright, but way too long. It is very difficult to get any materials without roosters, so the game just hangs on way too long and it takes forever. Also, they use bombs every time you click, and again that only allows you to play one or two games at best, and that’s it. It’s a shame because this could be a very good game, but all these issues run counterproductive of what the developers are attempting to do, which is to turn a profit. It just turns off most people when they ask for a lot of money for meager game playing. No thanks.

### 1/5 — Can no longer construct

*2021-11-08, version 5.2.4*

I got the coins to purchase the construction and the last 3 I did I can’t do as it’s constantly saying it’s updating the puzzles come back in a few days been a few weeks now sent emails no response at all

### 1/5 — Okay game, but freezes on “Rate Us” screen

*2020-06-04, version 5.2.4*

I’ve been playing this game for a while now, and I have to say it’s incredibly frustrating that I have to force close the app almost every time I’m asked to leave a rating on the App Store. This is probably my favorite nonogram game, but having to close out of it every few minutes or so is beyond annoying, and having been playing this game for months, I’m losing my patience hoping it’ll get fixed. I’ve seen other reviews stating the same problem, and have yet to see an update doing anything about it. I’d be happy to change my rating once I see this is fixed.

### 1/5 — Freezes on ‘Rate Us’ Screen

*2019-10-07, version 5.2.4*

Using one star to get your attention. My game often freezes on the ‘Rate Us’ screen. This causes me to have to force close my app and reopen it. Also, for the special events, you require us to use pickaxes for those levels. Unfortunately the number needed to fully complete all the levels is about 700 or so pickaxes. It takes way to long to save that many through the game. So oftentimes I end up not bothering to engage in the event at all. 😞 Yeah, I could drop $40 to get 1200 pickaxes, because that’s the only package that offers enough pickaxes. But I can’t do that every time you have a special event, because I don’t have money to spend like that. I highly doubt many other players do either. Perhaps lower the cost of purchasing packages. Or increase the rate at which a pickaxe drops after ‘random’ puzzles. I know for you, the point is to make money, but you may actually make more money if the cost was lower, because more players could afford it then.

### 1/5 — Fun game but needs to improve basic maths

*2019-07-13, version 5.2.4*

The app in itself is a fun game to play but when you need bombs to play the next level, it would be handy if basic maths applied. You play the random games and win 10 bombs but you only get awarded 7. Where are the missing bombs? This makes completing levels harder as you have to wait longer to complete levels

### 1/5 — Absurd and not worth the time

*2019-05-18, version 5.2.2*

The amount of waiting in this game is inane. The bom and chicken system is ridiculous you get chickens to use while building buildings at an absurdly slow rate. Now you can finish a building without spending chickens but the fact it takes 3 just to replay (which it uses up) and then you still need to have extras just to finish the puzzle makes a multi day wait if you mess up on any puzzle. Not to mention if you have 3 then try again you instantly lose and have to get three more chickens which makes an even longer wait. The boms make it so that you have to wait hours at a time to play a single level. There are other picross games that not only allow you to play multiple puzzles in a single sitting but also don’t force you to either wait excessive periods of time or pay to keep playing.

### 1/5 — Could have been ok

*2019-05-09, version 5.2.1*

So you need chickens (?!) to play puzzles. The chickens come from the farm but you can only collect a couple every 12 hours. Could have been an ok game but who can be bothered to wait that long?. When I finally collected 2 chickens (3 needed per puzzle) they disappeared before I could use them and they are a ridiculous price to buy. Delete.

### 1/5 — Never loads

*2019-05-07, version 5.2*

Never loads

### 1/5 — Updated review

*2019-04-08, version 5.1*

Updated review - latest update crashes on loading every time on iPhone 8.

The game was perfect before the latest updates. I really don't like the different coloured squares idea and it makes it hard to know how many bombs you need before you start a level. Used to play this daily but not anymore.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2019-04-05, version 5.1*

The old version of this game was pretty bad.

The new version adds a lot of new features, but doesn’t seem to do anything to fix the core problems with the game, and adds a whole lot of new ones.

I say “doesn’t seem” because the game is so unstable I can’t actually be sure. It crashes if I try most of the new features. The only thing I can seem to do is play a random puzzle. Which looks scrunched down compared to the previous version, and has a noticeable lag in responding to any clicks. And it still crashes if I make a mistake or complete the puzzle or try to x-mark a square. But the one puzzle I did complete was ridiculously easy except for one point where I had to make a 50/50 guess; no logic involved—so same as always.

For extra fun, try rotating the screen (during startup, at the menu, or in-game): instead of redrawing it stretches the whole thing out to look ridiculous and then stops responding to clicks.

Maybe this is for the best. A nonogram game that missed the point of nonograms, where most puzzles can only be solved by guesswork, and where you have to keep coming back to pick up energy before you can even play—it’s probably better that it’s not playable at all.

The art style is still nice. Whoever the graphic designer is, it’s a shame they aren’t working with a competent game designer and a competent programmer.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — It’s fixed

*2022-02-23, version 5.5.3*

It seems that the app is fixed. Yay. One of my favorite games.

### 5/5 — Love this game

*2021-05-05, version 5.2.4*

I enjoy this game for long time on android and has to start over since I switch to iPhone. So I download this on iPad and interface is stretched. Please update the system so I can continue playing!!

### 5/5 — Great game

*2019-08-10, version 5.2.4*

Love this game! The only complaint I have is I wish it was easier to switch devices and keep all my progress. However the company did get my progress switched for me just took a little bit of time. Other then that great app.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2019-04-27, version 5.1.8*

Relaxed ng

### 5/5 — Doesn’t deserve 5 stars

*2018-04-25, version 4.8.5*

Look. The game’s fine. It’s okay for a picross game, I’d rate a three-star if I was rating based on gameplay, but I’m not.

This game has one redeeming feature that raises it to five stars: PIRATE WAIFU!

I love her! She’s an interesting character who you can love without even hearing her talk (unless you count the descriptions of the solved puzzles). In the end, the pirate girl makes this game stand out.

### 5/5 — Playability is a five bit...

*2017-12-22, version 4.4.5*

If you're reasonably good at nonograms, your play time will be short. Great idea, but needs a bit of tweaking to balance paying the developers and making the end user feel like it's too expensive to advance.

### 5/5 — Great

*2016-05-21, version 2.2*

Fun game to play. Very addictive.

### 5/5 — Relaxing

*2016-05-19, version 2.0*

This is a fun and relaxing puzzle game

### 5/5 — Really fun picross

*2015-10-04, version 1.0.2*

Really enjoy this different style of addictive, cute picross

### 5/5 — Brilliant!

*2015-09-05, version 1.0.2*

It's a rare chance that I get to play story games such as this. Overall, I had an amazing time playing this. Great work!
