There was some lag over WiFi, but reviews suggested a wired connection would be better. I purchased an Apple TV and upgraded to the pro version. Apple TV 4K version 3 wired in. Lagging still persists. Some games such as FC26 are almost unplayable and the pro version I paid for looked good, but again lagging caused a difficult play and visual experience. All the reviews suggested Apple TV 4K version 3 was one of the better options on the market. Far better than the Sony official app. I use it with a ps5 controller and it's about as close as you can get to a ps5 on your iPad. ### 5/5 — Best Remote Play Experience Out There *2026-03-08, version 3.1.0* Hands down the best remote play app available—smoother performance while offering tons of choices. While the free version works great, but the paid version is absolutely worth every cent— unlock lots of features which are absent in other apps, offering players more choice all around— from stream quality to custom controller mappings. The upscaling is an absolute game changer and looks fantastic on the iPad Mini 6, which handles the 2K upscale at 60fps with ease, and the Spatial Audio somehow feels wider and more immersive than Sony’s app. Hardly feels like streaming when on my home network, and when traveling, I can adjust the quality to match my connection. This is one of the rare apps I feel was worth every penny. So much so, I didn’t hesitate to purchase it for other platforms like macOS. Honestly, can’t really think of any negatives. Plus, the dev is extremely active on Reddit, and seems to be constantly improving and adding new features based on community feedback. My iPhone Dynamic Island blocks part of the screen in portrait mode, so if I could shift the display down a bit that would be wonderful. I’ve tried multiple devices, different settings, and I just couldn’t get it to connect fully. Now, I assume it’s because imm not entering my IP address to connect, but I also don’t know if it’s safe or not. Choppy gameplay regardless of settings. Previous review: Great job - very impressive performance on the AppleTV 4K extending the Livingroom PS4 throughout the house. I’ve noticed however that the MP app doesn’t finish connecting to the PS4 (stalls on the wake process, all latest software/firmware) unless the PS4 and ATV have been restarted. Workaround at the moment is to wake the PS4 in some other manner prior to connecting (using Sonys remote app or physically waking the console). Both our PS5s are now bricked. My guess is the dev is a Xbox fan and likes to destroy PlayStations. Getting the additional features was a no brainer and I immediately made this my primary gaming app over the official PS Remote Play. Besides the UI of this app everything has been excellent.
