### 4/5 — Very good calorie Tracker

*2026-07-21, version 2.2.6*

I only don’t give a 5 stars because sometimes the UI has issues and the integration with garmin and apple health for exercise doesn’t work well all the time.

### 4/5 — The support button doesn’t work

*2026-06-07*

I’m unable to submit bugs or errors to the developers now

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to clarify that the Qalzy Scale can work without a subscription, and users will still be able to use unlimited scans with the scale. We also want to confirm that all Kickstarter backers have received lifetime access to the app, as promised.

Our premium features are designed for users who want a more advanced experience and more support on their weight-loss journey. Offering these optional premium tools helps us continue improving the product and providing better service, while still keeping the core scale experience accessible.

### 3/5 — Are we serious...

*2026-06-02*

I'm using this app for months and it randomly starts charging me now. Explain why I have to pay to favorite something, no longer using this app anymore I was only using it because it was free.

**Developer response:** Hi there. You can still have up to 10 favourites in the free plan. The app remains free for anyone who wants to use it, but for users who are serious about losing weight, we offer advanced features and keep investing in new functionality.

### 4/5 — Camera issue

*2026-05-19*

App overall is great and easy to use. The camera, however, is faced the wrong way and there is no option to flip the view. Scanning the barcode doesn’t seem to work as the camera can’t seem to focus on it and it’s flipped.

**Developer response:** Hi there, and thank you for your review. Can you send us more details with the iOS version and the iPhone number you are using at hello@qalzy.com, and we'll look into this for you

### 4/5 — Qalzy

*2026-04-28, version 2.0*

Easy to use app. Recipe option. Looking forward to the scales. A great product. Makes tracking food (Macros and Calories ) so easy.

### 3/5 — Questionable business practices

*2026-04-24, version 2.0*

They said their primary source of income would be the sale of scales. Now that they have a backer to earn even more money and mass produce the scales, they’ve switched to a premium model and took away the AI Scans that makes the app and scale work.

They also sent out an email to kickstarters after updating the app to offer lifetime subscription access but didn’t provide advanced notice, from what I saw.

### 3/5 — App is Slow

*2026-04-08*

The app takes a year and a day to load and even start up. And I can’t see my fiber in grams or even change the amount I want for certain nutrients. If those two things were fixed, I think I could give this a solid five.

**Developer response:** Hi there, can you send us your account details to: hello@qalzy.com to check why it's slow for you?
We're adding Fiber in grams in our next release, so keep an eye on our new updates.

### 4/5 — Wowed by Qalzy

*2026-01-11*

I downloaded Qalzy a couple days ago, and, so far, I have been enjoying my experience with this application! I’m really impressed with how accurately this app tracks my intake, and the meaningful insights it provides based on what I’ve consumed. My only suggestions for future updates would be to add in a custom input for water consumed, rather than the two pre-set options, as well as adding in a widget so that I am able to look at my stats outside of the app. Besides that, this application has become a total game-changer for me compared to every other food tracker apps I’ve tried, and I look forward to seeing how this incredible app continues to evolve!

### 4/5 — Great app!!

*2026-01-08*

This is one of the best food diaries that I have found. It doesn’t force you into any sort of payment plan and has pretty much everything that I needed on it. The only thing that I would say is that it would be nice to add specific ounces of water and specific portions to things. The exercise options are a little weird and I wish I could add miles instead of time. Other than that, it really is an amazing app and I use it constantly!

### 3/5 — Just stopped working

*2025-11-12*

Was a great app but then just stopped working after a week. Just as i was invested and had worked hard keeping a log. Poof! All gone

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. On the 12th of November, we were experiencing some network issues, which made the app slower or even unresponsive. These are now resolved.

Your data are still there. If you are still having issues with the app, email us at hello@qalzy.com and we'll look into it.

### 3/5 — it’s alright

*2025-11-12, version 1.3.0*

it’s good for tracking all the stuff you want but it’s so difficult to do. the loading in app takes forever. you can’t add your own foods because it says something about a barcode already existing and takes lol 5 minutes to even try get to the save screen. you can’t edit the nutritional information on existing foods and putting in the details or servings and stuff is SO confusing, they do it in such an odd way? the ai scanner didn’t even work at all it was so inaccurate, and the nutritional information on existing foods is completely wrong. if this app was easier to use it would be great
just don’t really get how you don’t have an option to edit the calories or anything ?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Just not good - kinda predatory and money driven.

*2026-08-06*

I wanted to buy the scale, but after numerous questions, sales money pitches, and pushes in the app just to create an account and that process was buggy -I’m done. I suggest you stop being so aggressive by asking so many unnecessary questions and pushing fees before people even get to try the app, product, or service. Major turnoff.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. We ask for a few additional details during sign-up so we can create a personalized plan tailored to your goals, similar to the guidance you’d receive from a nutritionist.
The app’s core features are completely free. Premium is optional and includes additional tools for users who want more support with their weight-loss journey.

### 1/5 — Why

*2026-08-04*

I have been with Qalzy since it was a baby, using it every day every meal, a dedicated user. Suddenly I open it up one day and see a payment needed. I thought this was free and suddenly they rip it away. I feel betrayed

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. We’ve kept the core functionality free, and Premium is what allows us to keep improving the app and build more advanced capabilities for people who are truly committed to their weight-loss journey.

### 1/5 — Not Worth the Hassle

*2026-06-25*

This app did not work well at all. It’s very complicated and the AI pictures of the food didn’t seem to work well. Also the servings were hard to figure out. The water never seemed to keep track correctly. I paid for a month and only lasted two days and I took it off my phone.

### 1/5 — Must answer 30 questions just to sign up??!!!

*2026-06-08, version 2.2.0*

Are you serious??? I have never seen anything like this. I HATE apps that make you create an account before even seeing what it can do but this one takes things to the extreme. Not only do you have to create an account, you have to give them more information than the census. There is a progress bar at the top for the sign-up process and it's only at about 15% but I've had to go through 10 screens and answer 6 questions. AND I'M ONLY 15% OF THE WAY THROUGH!!! Hell nah. This is insanity.

Edit: Hey dev, nice dig. "for users who are serious about losing weight." 🤣 And I use apps made by developers who are serious about making good software!

### 1/5 — Loved it for Free

*2026-05-27*

It isn’t the best app out there. Kind of hard to navigate compared to other like products but worth dealing with those downfalls for free AI scans. 1 free AI scan a day is not worth the hassle and I will use one of the other more user friendly apps that at least have more free scans per day.

**Developer response:** Hi there, just as anyone who goes to work each day expects to be paid, the same applies to our employees. The app remains free for anyone who wants to use it, but for users who are serious about losing weight, we offer advanced features and keep investing in new functionality.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2026-04-26, version 2.0*

Allows free account then ‘upgrades’ to trial that then goes to subscription that’s impossible to cancel.

### 1/5 — AI can’t identity food

*2026-04-21*

First day of use and I take a very clear photo of a sushi roll multiple times and I’m given the feedback “can’t identify food”

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for your review. We had some issues on April 22nd with AI Scan, but everything is resolved now. Try again to scan any food, and you will see results. If you are still experiencing problems, send us an email at: hello@qalzy.com, and we'll look into it for you.

### 2/5 — Reduced functionality

*2026-04-24*

Locking AI features behind premium is understandable because they are costly to run. The app is nice, but the new premium locking you out of basic QOL sucks.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. We’ve kept the core functionality free, and Premium is what allows us to keep improving the app and build more advanced capabilities for people who are truly committed to their weight-loss journey.

### 2/5 — Plz fix

*2025-09-26, version 1.2.6*

Used to be good but label scanner doesn’t work now and it’s buggy

### 2/5 — Major problems with bar code scanner

*2025-05-02*

Everything appears to work except the bar code scanner. Always returns a serving size of 1 gram.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback!
The barcode scanner shows “1 gram” by default because the app doesn’t yet know how much of the product you’ll actually use. After scanning, just tap to select your actual serving size (like 30g, 1 slice, 1 cup, etc.) and the app will calculate everything based on that. We’re working on making this more intuitive in the next version of the app. We appreciate your input!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very good customer support and app development

*2026-07-20*

The only real issue I faced once was the support button stopped working. They fixed that and improved every bug I reported.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback!

### 5/5 — .

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2026-02-19, version 1.3.5*

I’ve been using it for a couple of days and love it!! It’s free and has quite a bit of info and tools! Would love to see them adding daily intake metrics for magnesium and omega 3 as well, great job so far!

### 5/5 — Great!

*2026-02-04*

Works well, has good features

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-01-07, version 1.3.3*

Finds a lot of food. Also has the bar code scan option that makes everything easier.
Would highly recommend

### 5/5 — Money

*2025-12-07*

It’s free that’s all I gotta say

### 5/5 — What a great app

*2025-11-18*

A massive database of foods. Easy to understand and user friendly

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review!

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2025-11-14, version 1.3.0*

I’m having a struggle loosing weight, so I was looking for one of these apps and after finding loads with super crazy prices, I came across this and, in fairness, this is incredible!

First off, it’s mostly free! You can also do basically everything, other extremely pricey apps can do, which is a bonus. Very impressed with this on first use, let’s see how it goes.

### 5/5 — Fixed

*2025-10-15, version 1.2.6*

Label scanner works good again and app is great, although the ai scan could be more accurate.

### 5/5 — REALLY free and now improved

*2025-10-15*

I tried a half dozen different AI calorie tracker apps that say they are free, but they were only free for a short trial period or are so clogged with pop ups and ads to subscribe to the premium version that they were hard to use. Then I found Qalzy about a week ago. (No, you don’t need to purchase the special food scale with the built-in camera to use the app; but it sure looks convenient. For now, I’ll use my phone camera and see how it goes.) I like how the app is organized. There’s a short learning curve. I had some problems with the app body weight and weight loss goal data not saving and thus throwing off other info so I contacted the company support (hello qalzy.com). They were very responsive, within a day, and helped me figure out that another phone app of mine was interfering, so I changed the data sharing and that issue resolved. There are several options for entering food (AI scan - using your phones camera on the food or the package label, manual entry and bar code). I was having trouble getting the bar code scan feature to work, and they were able to fix that too. Right now I’m thrilled.

I look forward to future updates where it can share info with my phone’s fitness app but will keep them separate for now.
