Lately, however, as I’m reading articles, the screen keeps getting taken hostage by ads (or “congratulations winner”-type scams) that one cannot click out of. There isn’t much investigative reporting anymore. The paper now seems like a pamphlet. All the good comic strips were dropped, too. Some of the right-wing editorials test my gag reflex. The paper should do a better job of calling out our gov. and legislators for being Trumpers. When the paper was bigger, they ran stories of upcoming events and shows and festivals. I’ll continue to use the old app that works fine most of the time. Whatever this new thing is you’re trying to do is terrible and horribly user unfriendly. ### 1/5 — Way too many ads *2017-12-15* The app has way too many ads especially the video ones. ### 3/5 — Ms *2017-07-14* I really liked the quad city times app. Even though we take the daily newspaper, I am disabled and it's hard for me to manage the paper, I can use my iPhone or iPad. However lately, I am missing the obituaries. Why were they removed? Please put them back, I am of an age that I need to know about the death of my colleges and past friends. ### 2/5 — Little content *2017-02-26, version 2.3.4* The content in this app is even thinner than the daily print edition. A very poor substitute for a newspaper. But as the paper is never on time it is about all I usually get for my subscription. ### 1/5 — Horrible *2016-04-02, version 2.1.2* By far the worst news app, not even comparable to circa-2009 apps. Ads are highly intrusive even with paid subscription. Worse, there is no content!!! QC times in no longer a source of breaking news. **Developer response:** I’m sorry that you’re not satisfied with our app. Our goal is that readers can easily read and keep up with the latest local news – sports, government, education, food and business stories that matter most in your everyday life. ### 1/5 — Can’t use *2025-05-24* 10 days ago, I could read the PDF version. Now it does not open. Claims that I don’t have a subscription which I do. The people at the newspaper weren’t very useful either. The app sometimes tells you that you need to subscribe even though you already are and denies you the story. Just a very weak tool. Many times app opens to a blank screen. Also when going from one page to the next I get a message that the page is not available for download. If I go forward or backward it will load sometimes. Same thing happens when using the page function. I’m frustrated enough with both the app and QCTimes.com website that I’m seriously considering canceling my digital subscription. ### 1/5 — I just want to read the news! *2023-01-08* Old app was so much easier to navigate, local news is sparse at best. I have noticed more insertions of reporters own adjectives on their perceived views of the news. Journalism is based on facts. Keep opinions to the Opinion page. And although I subscribe to the Times, the navigation from page to page has become more difficult than in the past. You have made it harder now to read even with a subscription.
