## What is Qiblah?

Qiblah works out your prayer times on your own phone, from the sun's position and where you are. No account, no sign-in, and nothing to set up before it works.

PRAYER TIMES
Thirteen calculation conventions, including Muslim World League, Umm al-Qura, Karachi, ISNA and Egypt, plus Hanafi or standard Asr. Adjust any prayer by a minute or two to match the board at your masjid, and choose whether times round to the nearest minute or always up, so the app and the board agree.

Far north or south, where the sun never gets low enough for Fajr and Isha, the app says so on screen and shows an estimate rather than a confident wrong time.

MASJIDS AND JAMAAT TIMES
Find masjids near you, or add one by hand. Keep each one's jamaat times on your phone, look them up from the web where the masjid publishes them, and get a reminder before the jamaat rather than before the prayer. Save the masjids you go to and see their next jamaat on the Today screen.

Mark the prayers you made at a masjid and each one keeps a simple record of your visits.

REMINDERS
At the prayer time, a set number of minutes before it, or before the jamaat at your masjid. Per prayer, so you can leave one out.

QUR'AN
Read the Mushaf page by page, pick up where you left off, jump to any surah or para, and see how much you have read over the months.

CADENCE
Small daily habits alongside the prayer times, with a streak. Jamaat, adhkar, Qur'an, whatever you are building.

THE MONTH
The whole month's times in one table, today marked, Fridays marked, ready to copy into a message.

WIDGETS
Next prayer and today's times on your home screen, in several shapes.

ALSO
The Hijri date, with the caveat that a calculated date is an estimate of a sighting and your masjid may declare a day either side. The moon, drawn from its actual phase. Light and dark themes.

PRIVACY
Prayer times and the calendar are computed on the device and work with no signal. Your exact position never leaves your phone: searching for masjids or jamaat times sends only a rough area of about 5 km, and searching for a city sends the name you type. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

Free. No ads.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 6.2 — 2026-10-27

Qiblah on your Apple Watch. The next prayer and the time left, today's times with your masjid's jamaat, and the qibla. The watch works out the times itself, so it stays right even when your phone is at home. Add it to your watch face too.

Made for iPad. Today in two columns, the Qur'an as one big page or two pages side by side, and Qiblah works next to another app.

Updates in one tap. When a newer Qiblah is out, the app tells you and opens the App Store page.

Fixed: the qibla direction was slightly off. Far away it was a tenth of a degree or two; near Makkah, in Jeddah, Madinah or Taif, it was 3 to 4.5 degrees. It is now exact.

### 6.1 — 2026-10-26

A new look for Qiblah, version 6.1.
- A Live Activity that counts down to the next prayer on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island; choose what it shows in Settings, Reminders
- New widgets: the next prayer large, the day's prayers in tiles
- The sky on Today follows the time of day, with tonight's moon
- Qur'an coach: a reading plan with gentle reminders
- Month calendar with sunnah fasts, the white days and hijama days
- Qur'an pages in White, Sepia, Aged or Night
- Duas and Zikr in one tab, and two new themes: Green and Rose
- Better on iPhone Duo and big screens; straightened mushaf pages

### 5.3 — 2026-10-24

aNew: Books, in the Library. Seven books read the way the duas are, chapter by chapter: Abridged Bayan-ul-Qur'an, Hizbul Azam, Qasas ul Anbiya (Stories of the Prophets), Muntakhab Ahadith, Seerat ul Mustafa, Fazail e Amaal and Bihishti Zewar. Each keeps your place, takes bookmarks and has its own search. New in Settings: Font for books.

### 5.2 — 2026-10-23

Munajat-e-Maqbool: today's day glows at the top, each day opens with Maulana Thanwi's dua, and the book's introduction, etiquettes and virtues are in.
Duas follow the book's own order, with search, pins, the forty Rabbanas and the duas of the prophets.
Zikr has its own tab.
Qur'an tab: a khatam record, the khatam duas, the etiquettes of reading, and tajwid with every stop sign.
A month calendar with the sunnah days, and a second masjid on Today.

### 5.1 — 2026-10-22

THE LIBRARY

Munajat-e-Maqbool is in, all 206 supplications, laid out by the day of the week the way the book itself does. Pyare Rasool ki Pyari Duain is in, all 86 occasions, from waking up to going to sleep. Every one carries the Arabic as the book prints it, in IndoPak, with an English meaning written for this app.

The twelve Islamic months are in with it: what each one is, what is done in it, and what is said about it.

A COUNTER, for anyone who keeps a daily wird. Name it, set a target, tap. It keeps a streak, and counts today separately from the whole. It never nags you about a day you missed.

THE QIBLA COMPASS IS BACK, with the thing that was missing the first time. The direction in degrees is always on the screen, because that is worked out from where you are and does not depend on a sensor. The arrow is only drawn when the phone is giving a reading it can stand behind. When it is not, the page says so plainly and tells you how to fix it, rather than pointing confidently at nothing.

THE FRIDAY DUROOD. Between Asr and Maghrib a card appears on the first screen with the durood read eighty times, and what is promised for it. There is a reminder too, in Settings, off until you turn it on.

EASIER TO READ. There is now a text size setting at the top of Settings: Normal, Large and Largest. It makes every word in the app bigger, the small ones most of all. The names of the tabs along the bottom are larger and clearer, and the tab that was called Cadence is called Habits, which is what it has always been.

Settings also has a search box now, and the home screen widget's text goes considerably bigger.

On the duas: every book here was cleared before a word of it was added, and the English translation of Munajat-e-Maqbool is used with the publisher's permission.
