When it went to put in absence details. It wouldn’t let me and just frozen then the app closed off itself. The app used to work perfectly fine and with this new update the screen randomly zooms in when selecting a child which makes it very difficult to navigate, it feels like it’s not optimised for a mobile screen. We’ve seen this story before, I don’t trust some random lowest-bidder third party that our government contracted with to store our government ID. But the staggering issue in this app is, the more you do, e.g. notify of an absence, the more zoomed in it becomes until it is completely unusable. App not compatible with iPhone *2026-02-05, version 2.20260121.1* This is the worst app I’ve used in a long time. Trying to put in an absence using the app on your phone is a nightmare. Everything is enlarged and you have to constantly scroll to see anything. Also, the school sent me an unexplained absence text for an absence I’d already put into the app. What’s the point if they don’t check it? ### 1/5 — Extremely poor design *2026-02-05, version 2.20260121.1* They have basically just encapsulated the web page in the app skeleton. There is no device responsiveness implemented. So it seems like built in hurry. Someone just warped it up in the app and deployed to App Store. But this app is nothing more than a web frame to the website. Except you can’t see half the screen or use it due to the sizing which can’t be changed. This is such a travesty. I just got used by remembering where everything is. But this is not a good app design. 3. I’m now having issues logging in after the recent update. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Too much security *2026-08-03, version 2.20260626.6* It is supposed to be a communication app but you cannot stay signed in and have to sign in every time you use the app. For visa holders the app does not work. Their scoring process is only for citizens here in Australia. You have to take extra steps to verify your identity if you are a visa holder. ### 1/5 — App not safe to use *2026-06-17, version 2.20260402.2* As a parent who works in cyber security, I do not trust this app’s third party identity provider, GBG PLC, with my ID or my child’s information. Giving our personal government IDs to a company that processes that information in multiple different countries is a huge risk and we are being sold to the highest bidder. ### 1/5 — Glitchy and unreliable *2026-06-01, version 2.20260402.2* If the Dept want ms parent to use this app, fix it. Desktop version is not always possible for everyone. ### 1/5 — App is almost unusable now *2026-03-03, version 2.20260121.1* Not sure what changed but the app is even less intuitive than it used to be, even logging in is now painful. The screen resizes to such a zoomed in state and will not resize so completing any function is very difficult. This is basic app design capabilities to manage the form factor but it seems this could not have been tested on actual mobile devices before being released. But why have biometric login and then have to enter username and password?
