## What is QRadio?

QRadio is a clean internet radio player for iPhone, iPad, Mac, CarPlay, and Apple Watch.

Add your own streams, browse a catalog of public radio stations, sync favorites with iCloud, hand playback between your devices, identify songs with Shazam, and keep playback stable even with less reliable streams.

Highlights:
- Organize favorites into folders, synced with iCloud
- Select several stations at once to move them into a folder or remove them together
- Home-screen widgets: tap a favorite to play it, or play/pause the current station
- Buffering that adapts to your connection: Automatic (quick on Wi-Fi, steady on cellular), plus Fast, Stable, and Manual presets
- Open recognized songs in Apple Music or Spotify
- Play custom internet radio streams
- Choose between multiple stream qualities and sources per station, with automatic fallback when a stream is unavailable
- Browse a catalog of public radio stations grouped by country and genre
- Save favorites with custom names, logos, URLs, volume, and buffer settings
- QRadio audio engine for older SHOUTcast/ICY streams, with adaptive buffering and smooth reconnects
- Real-time song metadata, artwork, song history, and Apple Music lookup
- Merge stations in Song History when one station appears under several names, and separate them again later, or move one station's history to another
- Delete everything a single station recorded, or record history only for your favorites
- Rename a catalog station or give it your own logo, keeping the catalog's own name underneath
- Hotel Mode: QRadio never falls back to cellular on its own
- Arrange the tabs in the order you use them, synced across your devices
- Shazam and Auto-Shazam song recognition
- Smart previous/next controls across Favorites, Catalog, History, CarPlay, and Apple Watch
- CarPlay with Favorites, History, a Catalog sorted by genre, Now Playing controls, and Auto-Shazam status
- Siri Shortcuts for playback, sleep timer, song recognition, and "What's Playing"
- Standalone Apple Watch playback plus Watch remote control
- AirPlay, Lock Screen, Control Center, complications, and Digital Crown volume control
- iCloud sync for favorites, settings, history, and per-station options
- Handoff: continue the current station on a nearby iPhone, iPad, or Mac
- Encrypted backup and restore
- Light and dark mode
- Full VoiceOver support in five languages, and text that scales with your preferred size

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 10.0.0 — 2026-09-09

QRadio 10.0 adds folders.

- Folders in Favorites, synced with iCloud.
- Song History can be moved permanently from one station to another, when the same broadcaster appears under two names.
- Steadier playback over long sessions.
- Stability fixes.

### 9.0.2 — 2026-08-31

Fixes a crash that could stop the app from starting.

QRadio 9.0 teaches Song History that one station often has many names, and adds Hotel Mode for networks that should not cost you data.

- Merge stations in history: Trojka and Polskie Radio 3 become one entry, which takes the name and logo of the station you merge into. You can separate them again later.
- Manage Stations: one screen to merge, separate, or delete everything a single station recorded. The number of songs is named before you confirm.
- Save history only for favorites: optional, so stations you try from the catalog leave nothing behind.
- Station branding stays out of history. Bumpers and slogans are filtered by how often they recur rather than by a word list.
- Rename a catalog station or give it your own logo. The catalog's own name stays underneath.
- Hotel Mode: QRadio never falls back to cellular on its own, Shortcuts included, and it tells you why playback stopped.
- Arrange the tabs in the order you use them. The order syncs to your other devices.
- History updates as songs arrive from your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch. There is nothing to refresh.
- Steadier HLS playback, with a cushion against dropouts. Playback resumes where it stopped instead of rewinding.
- Lower battery use while streaming.
- Shortcuts: a new Stop Other Devices action, and the Play tile's station list stays current.
- Catalog: find a station by typing its stream address.
- Apple Watch recovers its stream after a dropout in standalone mode.
- TV stations that broadcast video now play their audio. The picture is ignored, so a music TV channel listens like any other station.
- Filter history by date: today, the last 7 or 30 days, all dates, or a range you pick. Relative periods follow the clock past midnight.
- Better song matching. Fewer instrumentals, megamixes and remixes standing in for the original recording.
- Station branding filtering no longer mistakes a song for a jingle when several of your devices record the same play.
- Fixes a crash that could end playback when the app was reopened.
- Stability fixes.

### 8.0.0 — 2026-08-04

QRadio 8.0 brings Handoff between your devices, full VoiceOver support, and text that scales with your preferred size.

- Handoff: start a station on one device and continue it on another nearby device - pick up your iPhone or iPad and QRadio appears in the app switcher and on the lock screen, ready to carry on. Playback moves rather than duplicating, so the first device stops
- Full VoiceOver support: every control is labelled in all five languages, and newly recognized songs are announced
- Dynamic Type: text and the rows that hold it scale with your preferred text size, including the largest accessibility sizes
- Station logos in widgets keep their colours on a tinted Home Screen, and the play button stays visible
- iPad: the Now Playing panel scales properly with larger text, and swipe actions behave correctly in the three-column layout
- Lock screen no longer shows paused while a newly chosen station is still buffering
- Lower battery use during long listening sessions
- Refreshed look in both dark and light mode, with roomier station cards
- Stability fixes

### 7.0.0 — 2026-07-23

QRadio 7.0 is a big update with home-screen widgets, smarter buffering, and far steadier playback on weak connections.

- New interactive home-screen widgets: tap a favorite to play it, or play/pause the current station without opening the app
- Automatic buffering that adapts to your connection, with a quick start on Wi-Fi and a larger cushion on cellular, plus Fast, Stable, and Manual presets
- Much steadier playback on weak or spotty connections, with automatic recovery when the signal drops and comes back
- Open recognized songs in Apple Music or Spotify, your choice
- Add your own stream URLs to any station with Your Streams
- More accurate song recognition and album-artwork matching
- CarPlay and Now Playing reliability improvements
- Apple Watch: steadier standalone playback and Smart Stack widgets
- Many stability, performance, and localization fixes
