### 4/5 — Fun roleplaying app!

*2026-04-08*

This app is a fun little roleplaying simulation app, turning your phone screen into a tricorder-adjacent screen, with authentic SFX, and cool little mock “data” that changes based on the 4 or 5 buttons you can press. Some buttons toggle, others bring up DNA scan info for the “BIO” button, etc.

None of the data correlates with anything your phone can “scan” or draw from like the Health app, but I didn’t really expect it to, it’s just a fun little app to keep on your phone for those sessions of playing the Star Trek TTRPG game, or visiting Star Trek Conventions.

I definitely think there’s room for improvement & expansion, as it only has the one screen which changes to show different types of data, (biological, geological, etc), but for $2, I would recommend it for any Trek fans.

Live Long, and Prosper, my friends. 🖖😄

### 3/5 — No Real Star Trek Sounds

*2023-11-22, version 2.1*

Cute very simple bleeps and bloops. Doesn’t sound like a real Star Trek tricorder

### 3/5 — Nice App

*2022-12-27, version 2.1*

App is very good but it has not been updated for 6 years. WHY??? Please update for ios16 and new big screen iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPad Pro.

### 4/5 — Needs to be updated

*2022-12-17, version 2.1*

Good app but it needs to be updated to support the news screen sizes for iPhones 14+ and iPads

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2022-05-19, version 2.1*

Easily worth the punt of less than £2. A lot of sound effects and graphics for the display. Great for cosplay or just fun to play about with. 5 stars because I like it.

### 4/5 — Very amusing fake application

*2021-12-16*

I’ve used this application to make a point on a few occasions, including to several years ago when I proved to my 8 year-old daughter that I could detect how many cookies she ate. Two problems exist with its use on OS15: (1) Emergency function no longer launches count animation and (2) there is no sound and nothing to adjust under Settings.

### 4/5 — Nice app that could be more …

*2021-08-21, version 2.1*

Nice app that could be more … why don’t you integrate the internal phone sensors ???

### 5/5 — Best Tricorder App

*2021-08-02, version 2.1*

I e had this on my phone for years now. Hands down, it’s the best Tricorder app. Sounds and graphics. It’s fun to play with.

### 4/5 — Fun tricorder app

*2021-06-28*

It has one bug that kept me from giving it 5 stars. The emergency data upload button no longer shows the upload video/animation. Otherwise everything else works.

### 5/5 — Exactly what I was looking for

*2021-06-19, version 2.1*

I was looking for a Tricorder simulator.
I found this. Many scanning animations, many buttons to press and great background sound that is the beloved scanning sound.
Perfect!

### 4/5 — The Emergency button

*2021-04-06*

Love the app!
The Emergency button doesn't activate the emergency transfer. Can you fix it?

### 5/5 — Trek fans

*2020-11-07, version 2.1*

Trek fan must have this app. Great app.

### 5/5 — One thing that would be cool...

*2020-10-01, version 2.1*

If it was not A FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

### 5/5 — Still good today!!

*2020-07-09*

I still use this app all these years later! It’s an amazing app and the only thing it needs is a phone case that looks like a “Quadcorder” back! All the sounds are perfect and the different functions use the actual sensors in the phone to give you somewhat relevant values. Worth every penny!

### 2/5 — Eh. What sound effects?

*2020-06-11, version 2.1*

Looks nice, but nothing I do enables the sounds.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Dave Cannon

*2021-09-19, version 2.1*

I’m a tell you I’m not happy with this purchase it stated 1.99 for this purchase this app does nothing to warrant 10.99 you can take back the app and give me back my money I would not have bought this app for 10.99 had I known this you can call me at this +13177011938 it really is no stars for this app

### 1/5 — Awful

*2021-08-11, version 2.1*

Awful app. Terrible attempt, waste of money.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work!

*2021-04-27, version 2.1*

Why does it work intermittently?! One minute it’s making sounds, the next it’s not!

### 1/5 — Not up to date

*2020-12-29, version 2.1*

Was good in its day, but has fallen into disrepair as there is no audio at all with iOS 14.2.

### 1/5 — Missing the most important sound

*2020-09-01, version 2.1*

Doesn’t make the correct ‘scanning’ sound, quite slick other than that, but it’s missing the most important sound...

### 1/5 — A bit rubbish

*2020-05-27, version 2.1*

Well that was disapointing. No instructions and nonway of knowing how to use the thing. I tried every possible combination of the confusing buttons and nothing. Bit rubbish and will be looking for a refund!

### 1/5 — No sound and...

*2020-02-08, version 2.1*

... no settings.

### 1/5 — Literally just light and sound

*2020-01-08*

Doesn’t actually use any of the iPad or iPhone built-in sensors. Just lots of blinking lights and effects. I assume it has sounds too, but I didn’t bother checking. Disappointing, especially for $2.

### 1/5 — How do I get a refund?

*2019-02-22, version 2.1*

Waste of money. It doesn’t even sound like the device it is meant to be emulating. A series of beeps and that’s your lot. I think the 5* ratings were left by the developers friends and family.

### 1/5 — Very, very disappointed!

*2018-12-03, version 2.1*

I saw a demo of an iPhone app of the TR-580 medical tricorder on YouTube. It looked quite good as it had a library function that actually accessed the internet. And it had all the familiar sounds of the tricorder on Star Trek.

This Quadcorder does next to nothing. The library function, when pressed, only beeps. And it does no use the same sounds the ST tricorder made when in scanning mode.

Sad that this app does far less than the app seen demonstrated at YouTube by Ben7seven7 dated August 13, 2012.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great App to Cord Things

*2026-07-12, version 2.1*

Nice to have when you need to investigate an alien planet or any radiation or EM anomalies. Well worth it. Get this!

### 5/5 — Tricorder

*2026-03-19, version 2.1*

I like to see more updated features in the quadcoder

### 5/5 — Great Fun & Cleverly Done!

*2026-03-08*

I greatly enjoy this app and have been using it for years! Wonderful actions on screen with sound effects. Looks real - sounds real. I have spoofed many friends with it!

### 5/5 — Simple must have

*2026-03-08, version 2.1*

What trek fan does not want to have a tricorder on the palm of your hand? All buttons work, realistic sounds. I do wish there are more options but it’s not like there is something else out there that’s better. I use the bio scanner on my kids until my wife told them.

### 5/5 — Fun

*2025-10-07*

Close enough to what a licensed app might look like.

### 5/5 — Great

*2025-02-17*

Adam, don’t delete or get rid of this app.

It’s beyond rare that there is finally a good ST TNG themed app out there.

It’s a lot of fun for myself and my kid.

Very entertaining. Fun on a full screen iPad when people in a cafe think you’re doing something important. :)

Make it so!

### 5/5 — AMAZING EVEN IN 2024

*2024-09-26*

Downloaded this, knowing the risks based on the past reviews. However, I can’t say I’m disappointed. This was honestly an amazing app and it’s really fun too. The developer clearly listens to his users because even after a review said the sounds stopped working the sounds are now working again. Perfect for any Treckies 🖖

### 5/5 — Wonderful Fun!

*2024-06-07*

I love this app! It’s fun for play and spoofs. It is colorful, active with good sound effects, and has a variety of visual screen and special effects. My thanks to its creator for continuing to update it!

### 5/5 — Still the Best and Most Fun!

*2023-02-04*

I have used this app for years, have had great fun with it, and thoroughly enjoyed it! I have spoofed people, played games with it, and just plain relaxed with it. The setup is colorful, active, realistic, and has a variety of functions. There are no sound issues. Just remember to turn off your silence setting on your phone or other device and make sure that the sound icon on the app is green. If it is red, just touch the setting to change it. While it is always possible to add real-life functions to the buttons, the virtual functions are quite entertaining. I have spoofed a fair number of people with this app and enjoyed quite a number of laughs. This app is great, entertaining, fun, and very well done. Great thanks to the developer for designing and maintaining it!

### 5/5 — Love!!

*2022-06-19*

Such a great app. Better than a prop Tricorder and it goes more. Wouldn’t mind occasional updates, to maybe the Nemesis version? Maybe?
