## What is Quadrate?

Quadrate is one home for everything you watch, read and listen to — films, TV, books and music, together at last.

Most apps make you pick one. Keep your films in one place, your books in another, your albums somewhere else, and never see the whole picture. Quadrate is the whole picture.

LOG IT, RATE IT, SAY WHAT YOU THOUGHT
Rate anything in half-stars and write a review worth keeping. Mark what you own, and be honest about what you didn't finish.

RATE AT THE LEVEL YOU ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT
Give a series one rating, or go season by season, or rate it episode by episode — whatever suits the show. Same with music: rate the album, or the songs on it. Pick your favourites and award your own gold, silver and bronze.

PEOPLE, NOT ALGORITHMS
Follow friends and see what they're watching and reading. React to their reviews, leave a comment, reply to a thread. Share any review as a link that unfurls properly wherever you paste it.

LISTS, WATCHLISTS AND TAGS
Build lists across every kind of media — keep them private, share them with friends, or publish them for everyone. Keep a watchlist for each medium, and tag things in your own words so you can find them again.

YOUR YEAR IN NUMBERS
See how much you've actually watched and read, a monthly calendar of everything you logged, your favourite directors, actors, authors and artists, your streaks and your rhythms — and how your ratings compare to everyone else's.

A WEEKLY CHALLENGE
Rank a curated set of titles against everyone else's picks. New one every week.

BRING YOUR HISTORY WITH YOU
Import from Letterboxd, IMDb, Goodreads, Apple Music and Spotify, so you start with your years of history rather than an empty shelf.

Quadrate is made by one person, and every part of it comes from actually using it. If something's missing, tell us — that's how most of this got built.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.0 — 2026-10-06

Quadrate 2.0 — a fresh look, and a lot of care under the hood.

A NEW LOOK
• A new typeface across the whole app, with calmer, smaller text (it still grows if you use bigger text on your iPhone).
• A redesigned Data tab: five chapters, streaks, your ratings beside everyone else's, and new badges to earn.
• A cleaner profile. Change your photo, Big Four and backdrop in Settings → Profile.

MUSIC
• Album versions: log which version you listened to (Deluxe, The Encore…), rate each one, and hear when a new version of an album you've logged comes out.

READING
• Log a reading session after the fact, and every session now saves properly.

DISCOVER
• Highest rated now shows the films, shows, books and albums people on Quadrate rate highest.
• Discover keeps your place when you come back to it.

PLEX
• Choose which server to use, including one shared with you. Big libraries sync reliably, and titles that leave Plex can leave your Collection (we always ask first).

NOTIFICATIONS
• At most one morning alert a day, and never the same news twice.
• A gentle note when a new version of Quadrate is out.

AND MORE
• Faster screens, clear "Try again" messages on a weak signal, smarter imports from IMDb, Goodreads and Letterboxd, and lots of improvements for VoiceOver, bigger text and Reduce Motion.

### 1.9.0 — 2026-09-29

Quadrate is now for adults, 18+.

NEW
• Rankings, front and centre: a card in your feed, plus Place, Global and Friends tabs, so you can see where your friends put each pick.
• List progress: every list shows how much of it you've watched, read or listened to.
• Watch Tonight, now as shelves: Carry on, On your Plex, On your shelf, and each of your streaming services.
• Read Tonight: the books you own, ready to pick up.
• Set your own page count for a book, and your reading progress follows it.
• Choose an album's artwork from its other editions.
• Edit your review from the menu on its page.
• Suggested people now say why they're worth following.

IMPROVED
• One clean tag on posters for your rating, progress and watchlist.
• Headers tuck away as you scroll, everywhere.
• Settings tidied onto one page.
• The same words and star ratings across the whole app.
• Recommending a book or album now says who made it.
• Trailers play in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode.
• The weekly roundup notification is now opt-in.
• A safer community: slurs are filtered automatically, and recommendations only go to people who follow you back.
• Dozens of fixes and speed-ups from a full review of the app.

### 1.8.0 — 2026-09-20

TONIGHT — A NEW TAB
For the question you actually have: what do I pick up now? Your watchlist and your lists in one place, plus a view that narrows films and shows to what's streaming on the services you have (UK availability).

THE FEED IS THE FIRST SCREEN
The app now opens on what the people you follow have been logging, and the header slides out of the way as you scroll. The same goes for your diary, collection and favourites.

THE WEEKLY CHALLENGE, REBUILT
Drag your ten into order instead of tapping arrows up and down. See how many people are playing and where the crowd put things — you no longer have to commit first. Changed your mind? You can remove your ranking entirely.

DISCOVER
Four full-width bands — films, TV, books and music — with real artwork behind them. Tap the search bar and your recent searches are there; tap Cancel and you're back.

THE SAME FILTERS EVERYWHERE
One set of filters across your ratings, favourites, watched, diary and collection — and on your feed and any title's reviews. Status, tags, rating, year, length, format, genre, country, language and streaming.

ALSO IN THIS VERSION
• Search your diary, including your own notes and quotes
• Posts are outlined in their medium's colour, and a rating with nothing written takes one line instead of a whole card
• Far more artwork on film and TV pages — every language, not just English
• You can't rate something that isn't out yet
• Browse by tag is easier to find
• Dozens of smaller fixes to filters, lists and the log sheet

### 1.7.0 — 2026-09-09

What's new in 1.7.0

• Official accounts — verified accounts now wear an official badge across the app, with a new Official feed on Social and an Official tab in Discover → Lists.
• Tap any day on your Data calendar to see everything you logged that day.
• Records — new milestones for seasons, shows, episodes and songs.
• Lists, reworked — drag to reorder, a new "List order" sort, and filter a list by year, streaming service, or cast & crew.
• Discover → Books now scrolls endlessly instead of stopping short.
• Get notified when someone you follow posts a review.
• Fixes throughout — album song ratings that wouldn't show, the decades chart, tapping an episode from your ratings, book covers, and more.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-09-02

Rate a whole show, not just its seasons

You can now give a series one rating, the way most people actually think about TV. Seasons and episodes are still there when you want that detail. If you've already rated seasons, open the bell — Quadrate will offer to fill in your shows for you, dated to when you last rated each one.

Also in this version:

• A rebuilt Data tab — your year in numbers, a monthly calendar of what you watched and read, your favourite directors, actors, authors and artists, and how your ratings compare to everyone else's.
• A new home screen, with what's trending and what's loved on Quadrate.
• Reply to comments on a review.
• Lists, watchlists and tags have been redesigned — each one now opens on its own covers instead of a stock image.
• Rename and delete your tags.
• Tap someone's name on a list to open their profile.
• Episode ratings on a show page, with your gold, silver and bronze picks marked.
• Tap a photo in a gallery to see it full screen.
• Faster, calmer loading throughout, and a lot of small fixes.
