### 5/5 — The best earthquake app!

*2026-02-16*

This app has become my go-to source for earthquake information. I love being able to monitor seismic activity both locally and around the globe - the ability to switch between viewing what’s happening near me and checking worldwide patterns is fantastic. One of the best features is how quickly it reports major earthquakes. I’m often learning about significant events through QuakeInfo well before they hit the news cycle, which really shows how reliable and up-to-date the data is. Whether you’re just curious about earth science or want to stay aware of seismic activity in your region, this app delivers exactly what you need in a straightforward way. Highly recommend for anyone interested in tracking earthquakes!

### 4/5 — Great app and update (4+ stars)

*2011-07-21*

I find Quakeinfo a really well done app. It provides the info in a clean, clear easy to use manner. Glad I picked this one out of the many choices.

*Updated* - The app just got a lot better with the option of showing all major earthquakes anywhere in the world in addition to the recent and nearby ones I choose to view with the apps filter. All the info I want, without the stuff I don't need!

### 5/5 — Ahora excelente!

*2011-03-30, version 2.0.2*

Vale la pena tenerlo de todas maneras si vives en una zona sísmica. Con este ultimo update, ahora puedes filtrar como la gente.
Recomendable.

### 4/5 — Muy útil

*2010-07-15, version 0*

Muy útil ágil y simple de usar.

### 5/5 — Awesome app for those who live in quake prone areas

*2010-07-14*

Great app especially if you live in areas which are prone to earthquakes such as California. Developer was quick to update for iOS 4.

### 1/5 — Bugs, bugs, bugs.

*2010-01-30*

What about Canada guys? USA center of the universe again?

### 5/5 — Works Great!

*2009-10-12*

I especially like the distance from current location feature.

### 1/5 — Sigh...

*2008-12-09*

4 stars if you sort the columns.

### 5/5 — Neat!

*2008-11-23*

I like the map drilldown feature. Worth .99 to me. Thanks alot, my geology student son and I will have fun with this.

### 3/5 — More time, worse maps than TapMap Quake

*2008-11-22*

Seems like a first cut at a somewhat more technical access to USGS quake info than TapMap Quake. Relies on USGS global map for each single event for only map graphic-could at least add the regional map. Does give link into USGS page for each event, though USGS pages pretty ugly on an iPhone. Use of location to show how far away each event is better that TapMap. Could do more-could tint quakes by approximate estimate of Mercalli intensity that each might likely generate at the location, for instance. Could sort by distance, too. Would be nice to set a location other than current (like a relative's house in a quake prone area). An interactive map ala TapMap's (or better) would be nice complement to list view.. If you want to get fancy, calculating quake arrival time at location might prove useful for many (takes minutes for energy to travel thousand miles or so, for instance). Adding some flag for quakes generating a tsunami warning could be useful, too. (Aside from close in, tsunamis travel pretty slowly).

Better than TapMap already in having more than 24 hours and in links into more detailed USGS pages on events. As with MapTap, not as helpful as it could be overseas (USGS threshold higher outside US). Hopefully will get better, but still a quick way to see what quakes have occurred recently.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 3.4.3 — 2026-08-05

Refined search behavior, particularly when quakes are being fetched.

### 3.4.2 — 2026-07-30

Adjustments to how clusters of earthquakes are displayed on the map. Clusters with both Minor (M 2.x) and Slight (M 3.x) quakes are now shown with a gray background. Improved the readability of the quake magnitude and place when viewing quake details.

### 3.4.1 — 2026-07-28

A whole new search experience and a much-improved map are here. This QuakeInfo™ update includes:

• A new Search tab which makes it easier to find earthquakes by place or magnitude. The Search tab opens with relevant suggestions.
• Updated map with redesigned markers to improve readability and make epicenters easier to identify.
• Expanded magnitude scale with a new option to set the minimum magnitude to M3.0 ("Slight") so you can filter out smaller, more frequent and less important events
• On-map arrow pointing to the most-recent quake when outside of the region currently being viewed
• Earthquake clusters on the map reduces clutter in busy regions. Tap a cluster to zoom in and choose an earthquake from the group to view its details. Long press on a cluster (for a bit less than one second) to view a list of earthquakes in that cluster and select one to view its details.
• Improved map navigation, scaling, interactions, automatic centering on the most-recent quake, and performance.

And if you enjoy QuakeInfo™ and want to support ongoing development, please leave a review!

### 3.4.0 — 2026-07-27

Welcome to a brand new QuakeInfo™ experience! The map and a whole new search experience are here. This update includes:

• Updated map with redesigned markers to improve readability and make epicenters easier to identify.
• Arrow pointing to the most-recent quake when it is offscreen and the map region was manually updated
• Earthquakes may now be grouped into clusters, reducing clutter in busy regions and making them easier to explore.
• A new Search tab which makes it easier to find earthquakes by place or magnitude. The Search tab opens with relevant suggestions.

### 3.3.11 — 2026-07-22

Added support for searching the quakes list by place name or minimum magnitude. Search suggestions include both the places where recent earthquakes have occurred and magnitude ranges, and can point out interesting or relevant quakes you may have missed.

As always, if you enjoy QuakeInfo™ or find it valuable, please leave a review!
