## What is Quartz Focus?

Quartz gives you a daily scrolling budget and pays you for the part you don't spend.

Decide how much scrolling feels fair in a day. Pick the apps that eat your time. When your limit runs out, Quartz pauses them for you — and whatever you had left at midnight becomes Quartz, a small reward for choosing something else.

HOW IT WORKS

Choose your challenge
Set a daily limit of 60, 30 or 15 minutes. Tighter limits earn at a higher rate, and you can change yours later.

Choose your apps
Pick the ones that pull you in. Your limit covers those and nothing else, so the rest of your phone keeps working normally.

Keep what you don't use
Every minute still on the clock at midnight turns into Quartz. The longer your streak runs, the more each spare minute is worth.

Earn a little back
Short focus sessions buy back a few minutes when you need them. They're capped at four a day, so this never becomes screen time of its own.

PAUSE WHENEVER YOU WANT

Quartz isn't a lockout. You can pause the shield any time you like — it simply spends from the budget you set for yourself. The point is to make the choice visible, not to take it away from you.

BUILT ON APPLE SCREEN TIME

Quartz uses Apple's Screen Time framework to pause apps at the system level. Your usage data stays on your device. Quartz never learns which apps you open, or for how long.

SEE WHAT CHANGES

Track your focus day by day and keep a streak alive. Your own progress always leads the screen, and there's a monthly board if you want to see how friends are doing — or you can ignore it entirely.

Quartz was built by Babono, Vincent, Artem, Aileen, Tami and William during Challenge 3 at the Apple Developer Academy, Bali.

Quartz needs Screen Time permission to pause the apps you choose.
