### 4/5 — Good but spendy refills

*2021-09-14, version 3.1.0*

Its not rocket science its a bluetooth TENS unit. Cool right?

Definitely helps until you realize it costs about $1 a day to do refills of something that costs them like .30 cents to make probably lol

Please make it so we can just buy refill packs for cheap of the blue gel and put them on to lower costs

### 4/5 — Needs to allow app functionality with apple watch

*2019-05-22, version 3.0.4*

I love this device and app. Can you please add the ability to use this app through the smart watches, like iwatch.

### 4/5 — One feature missing

*2019-03-02, version 3.0.4*

Would be perfect if it had an Apple Watch app.

### 4/5 — Great device but average app

*2019-02-27, version 3.0.4*

The Quell device is amazing. I have chronic back and neck pain. Using the device helps reduce that pain.

The App is functional.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2019-01-22, version 3.0.4*

Easy to use, great functionalities. However would wish the device to be a bit less app driven.

### 4/5 — Life Saver

*2019-01-12, version 3.0.4*

I have suffered severe lumbar back pain for well over 20 years. Three back surgeries, numerous steroid injections, physical therapy, ablation and countless OTC medications all with little relief. Pain clinics prescribed narcotics (Percocet, fentanyl patches, and currently morphine). Physicians reluctantly prescribing narcotics out of fear to losing their license. Death was a thought. Then I was introduced to Quell and my world changed. My daily morphine intake has been reduced significantly and I am able to do things again. Thank God for this device.

### 4/5 — Pain relief

*2018-05-15, version 2.3.2*

I gave this four stars since it does assist in pain relief. I love it because it helps with chronic pain. I recommend you give it a try, too.

### 4/5 — Neat tracking options

*2018-01-18, version 2.3.1*

App allows you to track sleep, position, pain and activity. I’m excited to use it. After two days, no change in pain, but they say it takes a while to see difference. It kept me up last night each time it turned on, but may just have to get used to it and adjust settings.

### 4/5 — No Health integration?

*2018-01-17, version 2.3.1*

I am one of the enormously fortunate chronic pain sufferers for whom the Quell has made a tremendous difference. The app is a great tool, with a pain diary, sleep and activity tracking, and therapy controls. I’m surprised there is no integration with Health, though. Please consider adding that functionality for us.

### 3/5 — App needs tweaking

*2017-10-11, version 2.2.1*

The app takes far too long to load. The device turns on and before I can adjust the intensity level, it feels like I’m in an electric chair. Almost makes the device unusable.

### 4/5 — It Really works

*2016-08-11, version 1.3.4*

Big reduction in pain from my arthritis. Would buy again at twice the price!

### 3/5 — Useful, and Could Use Improvements

*2016-02-26, version 1.3.2*

2016-02-25: Since the update following my early January 2016 review, I thought that the random resetting the device settings issue outlined in my original review below, had been fixed. However, this morning, discovered not so much: woke up to find the app unable to connect to Quell, but after restarting the app failed to fix it, I rebooted my phone, which did then connect with the device fine. (I have no other Bluetooth issues ever, so doubt it is my phone; I connect to my car, house phone and speakers every day with never an issue to date.) When I went to check the app settings, sure enough, once again auto-restart and gentle overnight were off without any intervention from me.

Given recent history as detailed previously and today, it occurs to me that it might be a device or firmware issue, so I will try the upcoming firmware update and if that is not a fix, call customer service to see if this is an isolated or known issue, and how to address it.

***** Just to be clear: I still give the device itself five stars. As an effective, non-drug pain treatment, it definitely has enormous value. I trust the app will continue to be improved and refined to catch up to the quality of the device. *****

2016-01-11: The Quell device is truly a game-changer. After using it since June 2015 (7 months), I am unable to imagine going back to *not* using this device and its app. I have found substantial relief from chronic nerve and muscle pain, improved my sleep quality, and after a couple of months I was able to reduce the dosages of my prescription pain medications. So the device gets 5 stars from me: therapeutic medical technology at an accessible initial investment (though be prepared for the ongoing substantial electrode replacement cost, if you happen to use the device 24/7, and are buying with the Canadian exchange premium on the dollar presently).

The app itself is helpful to check on treatment timing/progress, keep track of electrode replacement based on an average two-week life (non-adjustable by the user though, which should be changed so those of us using our Quell devices 24/7 can keep on top of timely replacement based on 12 sessions per day instead of 6-8), and monitor the device's battery status and number of sessions left before recharging is required.

I cannot find an explanation of how the sleep time and quality are observed and recorded, so I do not find this a helpful feature. Currently, when I check the app in the morning, I notice that both length and quality assessments seem inaccurate. Even when I have been up/ awake multiple times overnight and know I had very limited deep sleep, the app reports a 90%+ rating, so this feature is a mystery to me.

By and large the app seems stable and able to perform reliably. However, in the last few weeks, I have found an oddity happening: wondering why I was in more pain again, or realizing I hadn't noticed a treatment happening in a long time I found auto-restart turned off, and instead of my standard "gentle overnight" setting, it was set to "bedtime only." I know I had not been in Settings in the app, so how/why did that change? Maybe I am missing something, or it is a buggy feature and some documentation would be good.

Fully recommend my Quell device to chronic pain sufferers. The app needs some attention to add improvements as noted already; it only does a very basic job of tracking/monitoring at this point.

### 4/5 — Videos

*2015-12-11, version 1.2*

Great app for tracking progress and knowing when treatment is due or removing device is due. But can't access any support videos. Please correct video access and I'll give it 5 stars.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn’t connect

*2023-07-23, version 3.1.1*

Kind of pointless when the thing will not pair with your iPhone.

### 1/5 — Disappointing App

*2017-09-11, version 2.2.0*

I too downloaded the app and was unable to synchronize it to the device as per the instructions

### 1/5 — Quell maybe not

*2017-09-07, version 2.2.0*

Really impressed that I was not able to set up the app on my phone(at this time). Trying to stay committed to this device but..

### 1/5 — Videos Don't Work!

*2015-11-24, version 1.2*

I was looking forward to viewing the tutorial videos and they don't work. Please fix!

### 2/5 — Luv the quell

*2019-04-19, version 3.0.4*

Luv the quell!!!! The ap not so much, sleep tracking is nowhere near accurate leg movement is wildly inaccurate & quell ap support is clueless

### 2/5 — Refinement needed

*2018-04-25, version 2.3.2*

The app is beautiful but the functionality and practical application is flawed in the following ways:
1.) the sleep tracking is an unoptimized ‘tech-alpha’ at best and needs to work seamlessly with a set-and-go functionality; as it stands the sleep tracker does not work well
2.) there needs to be an emergency override in the app
3.) performing tasks, I.e. rating pain or adjusting actual sleep hours should be allowable regardless of which section in app you’re at; and added features of manually adjusting/recording - also, “rate pain now” - tracking daily is one thing, tracking dynamic patterns is something else entirely and needs to be incorporated
4.) needs polished. This is 2018 and the app feels and functions like a tech alpha product

### 2/5 — What is the Bluetooth Pairing code??????

*2015-11-27, version 1.2*

Cannot find documentation on the Bluetooth pairing code. Typical ones do not work. You'd think they would make it easy to pair but I guess they don't want anyone using the app.

### 3/5 — Redesign the Dashboard and Tracking

*2018-12-23, version 3.0.4*

The app works great during and in-between therapy. Two suggestions: 1) separate the “Start-Stop” and intensity functions to prevent inadvertently stopping the session while trying to change intensity; and 2) the series of questions asked each new day should include the previous day’s score to make it easy to compare since the number ratings are relative.

### 3/5 — Version 2.3.1 broke app

*2017-12-28, version 2.3.1*

I had flawless use of the app until the last update version 2.3.1. Now the app rarely connects to the device and it crashes multiple times a day. I am on an iPhone 6splus iOS11.0.3
When I start the app it tries to connect and rarely does; it just keeps trying. On the occasions it does connect it often crashes during use. Please fix it or go back to the old version.

### 3/5 — Love the device, app is frustrating

*2017-12-22, version 2.3.1*

My account disappeared completely 3 times and I had to create it again each time. App frequently logs me out. Even after the most recent update. Device works fantastic for chronic pain management, but the app needs a serious overhaul.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Huge help with my below-the-knee neuropathic pain.

*2020-09-14, version 3.1.0*

My below-the-knee nerve pain has proven to be stronger than relief provided by opioids, Accupuncture, THC, and anti-seizure medicines. When used as an adjunct, this allows a lot of pain relief. Other TENS devices aren’t as effective.

### 5/5 — Quell Apple Watch app

*2019-08-02, version 3.1.0*

Been using tens with MS good
Got Quell which makes tens wearable
But can we please have a Apple Watch app to complete the ensemble

### 5/5 — Bye Bye Pain!

*2018-06-13, version 2.3.2*

I’ve had my Quell for three full weeks now and I’m impressed. Before Quell, I had chronic sciatic and IT Band pain. Add to that I was taking prescription meds and OTC’s just trying to get through the day and night. Since purchasing, my pain levels have gone from 7-10 levels to 0-1 and without the need for ANY medicine! My app works great, as well. If I have one complaint, it is the electrodes. Not sure what needs to be done to improve them, but I’m struggling to get 14 days worth of use from each band.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2017-12-31, version 2.3.1*

But I sure do wish there was an iwatch app

### 5/5 — Great app!!

*2017-04-02, version 2.1.1*

Complete control for my Quell relief unit!!
Very well designed, easy to use and provides complete control that you need to get the most out of your Quell unit.

### 5/5 — Works for me!

*2017-03-01, version 2.0.2*

Been wearing the quell almost two years now. App is a great improvement-- I like that I
can increase treatment intensity from my phone now and that it has a pain journal. Helps me keep track of pain flares.

### 5/5 — All is well again

*2017-01-04, version 2.0*

(I fixed the issue with pairing by resetting the network settings of my phone, for those that read my earlier review). The new features of the Quell app make this device even more appealing. I like the ability to track my activity as well as sleep patterns. As others have mentioned, the "intensity level" setting is also great (if you don't see it, go into settings and turn on "intensity display").

### 5/5 — Great!

*2016-08-14, version 1.3.4*

The app is solidly made and the product really seems to work so far!

### 5/5 — It actually works.

*2016-03-16, version 1.3.2*

The Quell is actually really good. I bought it to help with my headaches, but sadly it didn't help me, but it did help my knee and foot pain after a hard day of work. This app is great to manage and keep track of the Quell unit.

### 5/5 — Great Companion to Quell Device

*2015-05-11, version 1.1.0*

The Quell app makes it easier to get the most out of Quell wearable pain relief technology. I love the sleep and therapy tracking and the fact I can look at progress over time.
