## What is QuestQuest?

QuestQuest is the adventure planner for people who'd rather be outside than wrestling with spreadsheets.

Build a trip in one place: route, itinerary, gear, food, contacts, safety prep. Pull from your own gear library so packing lists assemble themselves. Share the whole plan with your group through iCloud. Take a clean PDF along when you head out.

WHAT YOU CAN PLAN

- Multi-day routes, day-by-day itineraries, and wake/sleep locations
- Gear lists generated from your personal gear library, filtered by activity type (bike, hike, river, ski, climb, car camp, backpack — or your own custom types)
- Trip-specific gear notes and "need to get" flags that roll up into a single shopping list across all your trips
- Meal plans with ingredient-level grocery aggregation, BYO-per-meal toggles, and per-person scaling
- Emergency contacts, bail points, risk + mitigation tables, and a go/no-go checklist
- Map links, weather forecast links, shuttle plans, and any other resources you collect while researching
- AI-generated trip briefings (on supported devices) you can edit and save

GEAR LIBRARY THAT WORKS LIKE A LIBRARY

Add gear once. Tag it by activity. Reuse it across every trip. Mark items as owned, borrowed, on the wishlist, or out for repair. Filter and search the way you'd expect. Import your existing gear from CSV; export back out any time.

SHARING THAT'S ACTUALLY PRIVATE

Invite your trip mates and everyone sees the same plan, edits in near-real-time, and can add to the gear list. Sharing uses Apple's CloudKit Sharing — invitees see only the specific trips you share, nothing else from your library. No public profiles, no follower counts, no algorithm.

PRIVACY-FIRST BY DEFAULT

QuestQuest doesn't run analytics, doesn't show ads, and doesn't share your data with anyone. Your trips live on your device and in your iCloud private database. We can't see them. The only third-party services involved are Apple's own (iCloud, MapKit, weather.gov link generation).

EXPORT TO YOUR FAVORITE FORMATS

- PDF: a printable trip dossier you can take on a route with no cell signal
- CSV: your gear library, portable

BUILT FOR PHONE-FIRST PLANNING

Designed and tuned for iPhone. Optimized for one-handed use during the actual planning sessions — couches, airports, the bed of a truck at the trailhead.

WHO IT'S FOR

People planning bikepacking trips, river trips, backcountry ski tours, multi-day hikes, climbing road trips, car camping with kids, and everything in between. If your trip involves a packing list, a route, and at least one other person, QuestQuest is built for you.

QuestQuest is independently built by two outdoor people who got tired of "copy of copy of river trip 2023.xlsx". We use it ourselves.

Onboarding redesign
- Tell us which activities you actually do, then check off the gear you already own — your library starts curated, not crowded.
- Add your own custom activities (paddleboarding, gravel, packrafting, whatever) right from the picker.

Gear weight tracking
- Add a per-item weight in pounds or kilograms.
- Trip packing lists now show your total pack weight at a glance, plus a "packed so far" total as you check items off.

Calendar integration
- Tap "Add to calendar" in a trip's Dates section to drop the trip onto your iPhone Calendar as an all-day event with notes.

Trip ideas, sorted for you
- Suggested trips now span the United States — Yosemite, Rainier, Zion, Grand Canyon, Sedona, Glacier, Acadia, Joshua Tree, and more, plus the full Colorado catalog.
- Allow location and we'll sort by what's closest to you.
- New "Ideas farther away" section surfaces road-trip-worthy adventures in other regions.
- Suggestions are filtered to the activities you picked during onboarding.

Cleaner library
- Gear suggestions no longer include brand-specific examples — just the item, you fill in your own details.

Account
- New "Delete account" in Settings clears everything from this device and iCloud and signs you out.

Reliability
- Fixed a bug where shopping list checks would un-check themselves after switching tabs.
- Fixed a crash that could occur on shared trips when CloudKit delivered remote deletes mid-render.
