### 5/5 — The Rare Perfect App

*2023-11-16*

One of those few apps that I wouldn't change a single thing about. Private, free, simple, beautiful, and perfectly functional. Truly makes my life a little bit better.

**Developer response:** And yet there are so many things I would like to improve... 😊
Thank you so much for your nice review!

### 5/5 — Amazing read it later app

*2023-07-07*

The only read it later app youll ever need. It's so simple - opens the pages youve saved one by one. Free and no frills - no text search, highlighting, or text-parsed view. But it performs foundational functionality super well: Pages open from paywalled sites after a single login, web views always open easily. Im blazing thru my reading list. God send.

**Developer response:** YOU are the godsend for taking the time to write such nice words! Thanks a ton for that great review :)

### 5/5 — Simplistic is fantastic

*2023-07-03*

A simple solution to the problem of having too many tabs.

**Developer response:** Indeed :-) Thanks a lot!

### 4/5 — Please add Dark mode

*2022-12-10, version 1.7.3*

Thanks for creating such an useful app. Please add a dark theme for an even better reading experience!

### 5/5 — Useful app

*2022-12-07, version 1.7.3*

Love it🫂🫂🫂

### 5/5 — What an honest working app!

*2022-06-08*

GREAT!! Really.

**Developer response:** Thanks a lot!

### 5/5 — Very intereseting

*2022-04-07, version 1.4.1*

Cool concept and very polished.

In these times where info is everywhere, it helps me refocus on important stuff

### 5/5 — Beautiful

*2021-12-15*

Very beautiful reading list app

**Developer response:** Thank you so much Arthur!!

### 5/5 — Private, Easy, and NO SUBSCRIPTION!

*2021-08-26*

I have used Instapaper, Pocket, and Wallabag as various Read It Later services. This is the first one that I truly enjoy, and don't fell that I am selling my soul to use.
It’s boasts a beautiful, dark interface (by default!), iCloud Sync, and is easy to use. It also has an macOS version available on the App Store, also, for free.

This is a rare gem of an app. The developer, Greg (whose rest of the name I will not even attempt to write, as I will sure mess it up) has delivered to market, what an app **should** be. Simple, easy, **private**, and without the obnoxious subscription charges, so prevalent in todays apps.

If this app were to go to a pay/buy model **without** a subscription, I will still support this developer by purchasing it.

**Developer response:** Wow, thank you so much for all those nice words!!

### 5/5 — A reading app that frees you from backlog overload

*2021-08-16*

Switched to Reading Queue from Instapaper and have finally started to make a dent in my hundreds of backlog articles and essays. Not having to stare down a massive list to get to the next article makes a great difference.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much! Super glad it helped :)

### 4/5 — Almost there

*2021-06-23*

Would be 5 stars if it had a reading mode like safari (or an easy way to open in default browser).

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review!

You can already open the current page in the default browser: from the share button in the toolbar (the square with the up arrow), or from the app menu in Page ▶ Share.

The reader mode should come later this year, so stay tuned. Cheers!

### 1/5 — Bugged and unusable

*2024-01-03*

The app requires you to add an initial article at the tutorial screen before you can start using it. However, the ‘add to’ shortcut in Safari isn’t appearing. So the app is softlocked at the intro screen and unusable.

**Developer response:** Quiche Reader is not "unusable." Please restart your device, and the share extension should be available. Sincere apologies for this inconvenience, but unfortunately you have encountered a notorious iOS bug where extensions of newly installed apps do not show up immediately in the share sheet. Many users reported this same issue and there's nothing I can do until Apple fixes it. Fortunately, restarting always does the trick. Feel free to reach out at greg@quiche.works if you have any question. Also, if your problem is solved, I would be extremely grateful if you could edit your review and rating, as it penalizes the app greatly in App Store rankings. Thank you very much.

### 2/5 — No reader mode?

*2023-07-25, version 1.8*

I might have missed something, but without a reader mode, it doesn’t seem very useful… There’s a reading list built in Safari.

### 3/5 — No reader mode

*2024-07-03*

The idea of the app is cool, but I really don't understand the lack of a reader mode, that standardizes colors and fonts for more comfortable reading. Same in their other app Quiche Browser. You guys should really add that feature.

**Developer response:** Work on the reader mode has actually started, and it will ship once it's ready.

I'm a solo developer working on these apps, doing my best to design and build new features on my nights and weekends, despite barely making money with them. Please consider being more supportive towards independent developers.

### 3/5 — Doesn’t work if Safari is deactivated

*2021-12-07*

I have Safari deactivated on my phone, and that stops this app from working.

### 3/5 — Can’t find in the share sheet IPad Os 14

*2020-11-28, version 1.4.2*

Hey
I can’t add this app or Pocket on my safari share sheet. More done edit done. Is it because of IPadOS ?

### 4/5 — Great app, but definitely can improve!

*2026-02-19*

To the developer(s), I’m grateful that this is a simple, functional and straightforward solution and works really well while not collecting data. That said, would love if there were some open source options for reader view the way safari does and allows some open source narrator options!

Happy to discuss more feedback if needed, as I read it more.

### 4/5 — Appreciate the philosophy

*2025-12-28*

But can we at least see the titles of what we have saved?

### 4/5 — Love the concept

*2025-05-02*

Really like the idea and concept and could see myself using this app a lot more if a couple of things were fixed.

1. The quiche browser is awesome with built in ad blocking- why does this reader not block ads? I would love to be able to read this in more of an e-reader format, but at a minimum it should block ads by default.

2. It needs dark mode. I could see myself wanting to read articles later at night but I typically like to limit blue light after certain hours. I would love to have the articles offered in dark mode similar to the dark mode feature in the Quiche browser.

3. If I could download the article content to read later. Think this would be great for the plane where I could kill time reading articles I’ve set aside to read.

Otherwise I love the simplicity here. I saved things to Pocket from Firefox but I find myself almost never going back to read the articles I’ve saved. I think the simplicity from this reader would make me read the articles I’ve saved but I would like some of the same reader functionality where I’m closer to the content of the webpage instead.

### 4/5 — Work in progress !

*2024-02-25, version 1.8*

Really good but need some improvement.
For instance, the PiP mode have to be fixed.
Im sending my appreciation for the app, with great potential.

### 4/5 — Simple elegant app

*2023-11-30*

I like the simplicity of the app and would love to see a few more options added. I hope the app is still being supported, as there hasn’t been any updates in awhile. Nice job on this beautiful app.

**Developer response:** Thanks a lot for your review!
I love Quiche Reader and it is definitely not abandoned 😊
As I'm working on my other app Quiche Browser, the endgame is to have both apps working closely together (e.g. fast save to Reader from Browser), and share some advanced features (reader mode, offline saving, etc.). Please stay tuned!

### 5/5 — Perfect mindful read-later app

*2026-07-26*

It’s a blessing in disguise that Pocket shut down, because i ended up finding Quiche. It’s helped me have a more mindful relationship with all the articles and pages i save for later, and confront the fact that my time is limited and i cannot read it all, nor should i.

### 5/5 — Wonderful app - but where’s reader mode?

*2026-05-21*

I love this app, but where’s reader mode? The worthwhileness of ditching Safari's endless tabs hell becomes razor thin when I can’t have reader mode on Quiche Reader, but can on Safari. Please implement it 🙏🙏🙏

### 5/5 — Simple, Great

*2026-03-31*

Great reading list app! As the title says, this app is simple, which is why it’s great. It doesn’t try to do too much, it just works.

### 5/5 — Thanks for the great app, it seems chrome extension need to upgrade to manifest v3

*2025-06-23*

“This extension is no longer available because it doesn't follow best practices for Chrome extensions.”

### 5/5 — Wonderful app

*2025-04-30, version 1.8*

This app is absolutely wonderful. It’s EXACTLY what I needed, and I’m grateful it actually exists. Suggestion: the implementation of a widget displaying your next read would be interesting.

### 5/5 — Cool app!

*2025-03-11*

I’d love it if there was a menu shortcut in quiche browser that would let you save a page to quiche reader in 1 tap

### 5/5 — Simple

*2025-02-27*

Can’t compare it to any other read later app. It’s my favorite by far for being able to focus. The mind can’t multitask, no matter what you think hahaha

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2025-01-11*

I’ve been hunting for a clean, focused “read it later” app forever now and Quiche Reader more than delivers. The design is gorgeous, it works great, it’s everything I’ve ever wanted. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Seriously, it’s something to be proud of.

### 5/5 — Game Changer für fokussiertes Lesen

*2024-06-20, version 1.8*

### 5/5 — Simple elegant app

*2023-12-02*

I like the simplicity of the app and would love to see a few more options added. I hope the app is still being supported, as there hasn’t been any updates in awhile. Nice job on this beautiful app. Good to here, appreciate the quick response, and looking forward to what’s to come.
