### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2024-03-12, version 1.6.3*

I use this side by side with Procreate. Love it. The only thing I’d like to see is a zoom function.

### 5/5 — An excellent gesture drawing app

*2024-03-11*

Quick poses is an excellent gesture drawing app, with a basic drawing program, more than 160 included poses and the ability to import reference photos or galleries, a timer, and the abiltiy to draw overlay or side to side. They also store your drawing sessions for comparison over time. Importing reference galleries was a challenge at first, but they helped me through it.

**Developer response:** Hey! Thanks Jody for your nice review! 😍
Happy to hear that you are enjoying the app now!
I hope that it will help you improve your drawing skills as much as it helps me. 😊
Have a nice day! 👋🏻
Fred

### 5/5 — Near-perfect app!

*2024-01-31, version 1.6.2*

It has everything I’ve wanted from a quick posing app. The one feature I’d like to see added is the ability to save the preferred settings (preparing pause, direct drawing, etc) so that they do not have to be re-applied each session.

### 5/5 — Just a couple more features to be perfect

*2023-11-18, version 1.6.2*

This app does everything I expect it to but I would be very happy if there was a way to pause the current gesture and if there was a numbered timer instead of a gradual bar decrease.

### 5/5 — genial et merci

*2023-10-09, version 1.6.2*

### 5/5 — Good with your own database

*2023-08-09, version 1.6.1*

I save a LOT of reference pictures, so this app gives an easy way to actually practice using those for gesture studies, or if I’m just not sure what picture I want to study or draw from. I rarely use the direct drawing, I keep it open alongside procreate and draw there. Once I started using this, I never went back to the browser gesture sites since I could use my own personalized ref folders

*2023-08-07, version 1.6.0*

### 5/5 — Perfect app!

*2023-07-26, version 1.5.7*

Love this app and all the features, I use it almost daily and can’t thank you enough for it!
One small suggestion would be to add a “classroom” timed session that begins with short intervals that increase into longer timed drawings to mimic a life drawing class.
My previous life drawing app had a similar feature but otherwise all elements of this are far superior. Thanks again!

### 5/5 — Un outil sympa

*2023-05-29, version 1.5.7*

### 5/5 — Great app for growing artist

*2022-08-24, version 1.5.7*

If you are looking for an app to improve your gesture drawings or timed art studies while also generating an archive to track your progress, look no further.

Support is also 5 star, response in less than 30mins, hope the author brings more app like those or adding more features! Cheers

### 5/5 — The app I’ve always been looking for!

*2022-02-13, version 1.5.7*

Wow!! I’ve always been searching for good timed drawing practices, but felt something was lacking out there. I’m SO excited about the ability to do timed drawings of my own photos, drawing my own memories really hits different. Thank you for this app!

### 5/5 — Wonderful, honestly one feature missing.

*2021-12-23, version 1.5.7*

I think the app would be amazing if there was a class session going from 30 sec to 10 min poses (or 1 hour sessions over all.) other than that this is exactly what I’ve been looking for in an app.

### 5/5 — Very responsive designer and a very nice app

*2021-07-20, version 1.5.4*

I wanted an app to help me with gesture drawing.

There are others that can do the same, but this had two killer features for me: first, that it can take photos from a folder on the iPad. Other apps use the iPad photo library, which mixes art reference with my own photos while I wanted to keep them separate.

Second, that it allows drawing in split screen (for those moments when I only have an iPad with me), but also allows full screen display for those times I want to do gesture drawing onto paper.

This is a really nice app that does everything I want in terms of allowing me to set up my own reference pictures to draw and picking the cycle time between them.

As a bonus, I emailed the developer with a question and he was very helpful.

Overall: highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Needs 5 , 10, & 15 sec

*2021-04-25, version 1.5.2*

This is good and easy to use but if it added 5, 10, and 15 second options then it would be good for croquis practice.

**Developer response:** Edit: 5, 10 and 15 sec sessions are here! 🎉 Update Quick Poses, try it out and tell me what you think! 😃

Thanks for your feedback Coine Dive ! 🙇🏻‍♂️
As a user of my own app, I found that 30 seconds was already not enough for me😅, so I thought less would be useless. But, it’s good to know that some people like you manage to do anything with quicker sessions 💪🏻😳
I’ll try to allow this in my next update !
Have a nice day,
Fred

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not what I thought it was

*2023-08-14, version 1.6.1*

I thought this would. Have a collection of photos to sketch from. The archive is very small and only good for a few quick sketch sessions. I does seem to be able to steam photos that you might already have archived.
It does not have ample photos to stream

### 3/5 — sounds really cool but crashes the moment i open it

*2026-03-18, version 1.7.5*

i use line-of-action a lot but i’ve always wanted to be able to upload my own images and have those timed too. from the description, that’s what i imagine this is but it doesn’t appear to work at all on my ipad so i may never know how good it is.

### 3/5 — Can’t import pictures

*2022-11-02, version 1.5.7*

The following is the content generated through the DeepL translator.

Excuse me, I watched the tutorial on youtube and followed it to import images from the ipad album, but the gallery screen does not show the images I added in the folder (I'm sure I created subfolders under the Quick Poses folder).
I am using ios16.1.

### 4/5 — Ggh

*2026-03-13, version 1.7.5*

How to change drawing background to white ?

### 4/5 — Good reference app

*2024-04-10, version 1.6.3*

It works really well in general. One issue, the counter only works if you draw in quick poses. I like to do a side by side with procreate, so the app keeps saying I’m on the first sketch after the image changes. Wish I could disable that requirement. Otherwise it’s super useful for using your own reference pictures.

### 4/5 — Great app, just needs some tweaks

*2022-10-23*

Loving the app so far. Been needing to do more gestures but setting it up has always been a pain. This app bypasses that painful setup. However my only complaint is that it needs a delay on the preparation timer or whatever it’s called. When it switches to the next image I keep accidentally taping the screen as I was still drawing the previous image and it skips the countdown. It’s quite annoying as I like to quickly study the new image before it starts the display interval. This is honestly the only annoying thing I find. Other then that it’s perfect 👍

**Developer response:** Edit: Hi FlamingOracle! Good news, I’ve just release an update with that fix you asked, at last! 😅
Feel free to test and tell me what you think!

Hi Flamingoracle! Thank you your kind review. I’m glad that QuickPoses can solve your issues on this topic. Your feedback about the warmup delay is very relevant indeed. I’ll add this to my todo list for the next update! 💯
Happy painting 🧑‍🎨

### 4/5 — Good start, but needs polish

*2020-10-17, version 1.5.1*

App is effective as a very basic tool, that is to integrate an image shuffler with a timer in one app.

My Suggestions:
- Smart-shuffle, where the app corrects for images that happen to show up more often than others. Out of a pool of 80 images, I’d notice a handful of images that would just by chance pop up in almost half of my sessions, which may simply be an artifact of pure randomness but could be accounted for, similarly to how the iPod handled shuffle-play after complaints years ago.
- Add to the All Sessions viewer the ability to view all past sessions for a particular image, useful for seeing more noticeable progress over time.

Issues:
- App crashes very frequently when trying to view any past drawing session.
- Few instances where, upon moving on to a new photo, the sketch from the previous photo will remain. I think a quick hot fix would be to include a clear-all button just in case that happens.

### 5/5 — Perfect warm-up

*2026-08-19, version 1.9.1*

Big thanks to the developers for this clean, simple and free app. This is now officially my 5 minute warm up before the 5 minute coin flip, 5 minute rolling boxes, and 5 minute extrusion exercise session. Next payday I will upgrade, not because I have to…because these developers earned my investment with a solid app that doesn’t demand money for the base functions, only offers optimizations if wanted:)

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2026-06-04, version 1.8.0*

This is an amazing app for if you are trying to improve your figure drawing.

The timed format has leveled me up so much and the creator is open to new ideas and works with users.

I use an iPad mini and he has helped optimize it for my tools and time frames.

Seriously, this app is great.

### 5/5 — very useful for artists

*2026-04-22, version 1.7.5*

this is a very useful app reasonably priced one off purchase. There is nothing else like it on the market. It is great for Simply drawing with a variety of timed options and I love the overlay feature. The one request I have is the ability to re-organize the order of photos in galleries because when photos are loaded in, they are not in order and in some situations I wanna work on a certain order of photos. They currently cannot be rearranged after being added to the gallery.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

*2026-04-20, version 1.7.5*

### 5/5 — My daily drawing warmup app!

*2026-03-04, version 1.7.4*

This app is amazing! It’s exactly what I’d been looking for, with all the features I wanted and more!

I love that you can view previous sessions and monitor your progress, genius! Also it’s great that you can add your own images. The option of drawing in your preferred app is brilliant, but I’ve been perfectly happy using the built-in drawing tools!

This is now my daily drawing warmup app. The time limit ‘gamifies’ the drawing experience! It’s really fun and motivates me to get started as well as wanting to continue and improve.

There has been a lot of attention to detail in creating this app. Very happy that it exists! Thanks!!

### 5/5 — Excellent App

*2026-02-20, version 1.7.4*

Great at what it does

### 5/5 — Uploaded my entire library of figures.

*2025-11-27, version 1.7.2*

Payed the 6 bucks to use and couldn’t be happier. Uploaded and organized 20k references

### 5/5 — Great Tool for Drawing Practice

*2025-03-05, version 1.6.3*

Love this app for a quick drawing practice session. I would love if it came with a larger selection of photos preloaded, but since you can add your own reference images this isn’t a mark against the app. The one request I do have is actually, this but more. I would love a phone app version. Just the timed images option, so I can set my phone by my sketch book and practice with pencil and paper when I don’t have my tablet with me.

### 5/5 — A very good app for drawing practice

*2024-04-12, version 1.6.3*

I use it all the time now for warm ups to my drawing sessions.

### 5/5 — Good but has a bug

*2024-04-10*

The app does not keep track of the number of poses you set to be drawn. It now just goes on forever until you end the session.
