It gets worse when you have to update it. It’s easier to write everything by hand. Always glitches, can't get to old invoices before the update in the search, search options don't even have a "unpaid" search option, their call in help is useless", this Mac app is worse than the mobile version. ### 1/5 — Same As Everyone Else *2024-11-16, version 4.3.0* QB Desktop for MAC is terrible. Anoher issue with QB is its ability to change the app you pay a subscription for, stop supporting that version of the app, then charge you moe for a so-caled upgrade, when it's basically the same program. Their subscription based model should be better since they are grabbing consumers money monthly, but not updating it. ### 1/5 — Receipt Management Doesn’t Work *2024-11-13, version 4.3.0* I snapped a receipt with the app and delightedly found the item in receipt management, but have yet to be able to “create” the transaction. Even spending time making sure an appropriate vendor exists and no special characters are used yielded a “transaction creation failed” message. The problem is apparently pervasive looking at forums online. It seems weird that Intuit would invest the time creating the seeming useful tool and utterly fail to insure that it works (successfully creates transactions.) ### 1/5 — Changing business name *2024-09-03, version 4.2.0* I tried hard to just change the business name and keep everything else as it is , I can’t because this app won’t allowing you and every time i sign up with same login it will take me back to the old account, makes me so frustrated. It’s not flexible at all. I hope they will be able to change it to better deal. ### 1/5 — Intuit is a MESS !!! *2024-08-07, version 4.1.0* I got this app because Intuit discontinued Self-Employed without telling customers. It they are not only still charging millions of customers but raised the price from $4.99 monthly to $6.99 monthly. After not being able to login for months I found out they are replacing it - but didn’t tell customers and the new one is not even out yet!! They walked me through deleting the app from my phone and it’s no longer in the App Store. Unbelievable. So they are FRAUDULENTLY taking customer money for an app that doesn’t work, they discontinued and there is no way to complain as support is in the app. I finally called sales. >> Anywho I used the app for two things neither of which can you do online which is where they sent me - snap copies of receipts and track mileage. I’m furious honestly they are jilting millions of people because they clearly don’t know how to run a business. They have no clue what’s important to their customers. > So I tried this app which clearly isn’t as good as what I’m already paying for from the comments - but it won’t work with my subscription. > The board needs to fire quite a few people. It’s ILLEGAL to knowingly take money for a service you aren’t providing. It’s FRAUD. They need to be sued in a class action. How many millions of dollars have they wrongly taken in for a product their customers can’t use? It’s outrageous. ### 1/5 — Please Fix! *2024-07-27, version 4.1.0* Your recent update is worse, no improvement on the scanning. This App pales in comparison to Adobe Scan. If I could upload the receipts from that app to my QuickBooks account I would. This app takes so much time to crop I could have five receipts cropped and uploaded with Adobe scan. Then, as others have said, I can’t load my CC as a card. I have to label it as a bank account. Come on! You are an accounting software! I downloaded the only app availabe on desk top and it looks like a small fraction of the screen is used and it looks like the same app as my phone... A $250 desktop app that did not require any subscription now requires an over $700 annual subscription for worse functionality. Each account has different data. Next I went to safari and opened Quickbooks there. I clicked on the desktop view and was given the option of downloading to Mac. And Bingo it works just as it does on my computer at the office. They were fortunate to have secured a significant market share early in their companies life cycle. Unfortunately, they now rest on their laurels. It is clear that no one in upper management has any connection to the typical user. They are well insulated. I give them 2 years before they realize, albeit too late, that newer, better, and more customer aware, customer centric companies have entirely disrupted their universe. I have seen this over and over. The signs are there if you look for them. Sell your stock. Their day is over. For Investors whose analyst is recommending them as a stock to buy or hold—I would fire your analyst. They will be joining Blockbuster along with the likes of Kodak, Borders, and others like them in the corporate trash heap of companies led by arrogant and naive management teams. ### 1/5 — So glitchy! *2025-04-14, version 4.5.0* At least half of the time I open the app, it freezes at the logo screen. Closing and reopening it doesn’t work, it still freezes. When I snap receipts, it can take hours for it to show up on my desktop. I don’t often take the time to write application reviews, but felt compelled to write this one so that others could benefit from the exceptional value provided by this app. I have been using QuickBooks desktop since 1998 and have done all my own bookkeeping, accounting, and tax work using Intuit software products. I recently struggled with the amount of money that I’m paying Intuit each year for my desktop Enterprise subscription. After downloading and using this application for the first time today, I now understand why I am fully justified in paying the annual fees that I pay for my QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise subscription. You are really missing out if you are not taking advantage of this application! The ease and speed of recording thousands of transactions, in a way that results in high accuracy via amazing AI and OCR capabilities is invaluable. Additionally this app often automatically and appropriately codes the corresponding checking account register or credit card expense entries into the appropriate accounts (including splits) and to the correct vendor within my existing lists. Lastly, each check or credit card entry is linked to its corresponding receipt or invoice image providing exceptional auditabilty / traceability. Thank you QuickBooks developers for this amazing app. ### 5/5 — Worked Great *2024-12-09, version 4.3.0* No problems so far! ### 5/5 — Finally it’s working properly *2021-12-10, version 2.0.2* Got fed up w the slow and unreliable emailing in of receipts so tried this again after some years and they fixed the bug where your company shows up many times. App has smart recognition so the documents are properly cropped (on a contrasting background) and bam they appear in QB desktop immediately. My lagging emailed ones were still pending processing. I’m guessing maybe the app preprocessing things before sending IDK. I just wish the save button wasn’t behind the keyboard tou have to awkwardly scroll to submit but I can deal with it for now. ### 3/5 — Really needs PDF *2024-01-16, version 3.6.0* This really needs to allow the option to convert “scans” into PDFs. Other than that, this works pretty well with the Receipt Mgmt inside QB Desktop. Until.. a couple years ago and the scan tool for receipts stopped working. Then is sort of word enough for the user to be hopeful “it might work this time?” And I end up cropping it anyway. Otherwise, it’s great to have and it recognizes most of the digits and so on. Please, if there’s a way to get the receipt recognition back, I would very much enjoy using this again. I use a dark background and good lighting. Nothing seems to help. ### 3/5 — Wanted to love *2022-07-08, version 2.1.3* Wish this supported going straight to bills. Every time I try to upload straight to bill, it says it doesn’t support that format. JPEG. Which IS one of the formats they support. Don’t know why. It’s ridiculous. I’ve called several times and it’s still not resolved. ### 2/5 — Semi-functional *2023-02-11, version 3.2.0* The snap a receipt seems to work which is a timesaver, however the mileage app is somewhat pointless for my needs. If you have to stop and enter the starting location and then the ending location then why not just start the trip meter in the vehicle and record the mileage at the end of the day. It would be also hard to record service calls where the starting and stopping point is the same and the customer(s) are somewhere in the loop. We can hope that Quickbooks will continue to improve this feature till it’s actually functional for a service based company. ### 2/5 — It needs several tweaks to make this awesome! *2023-02-04, version 3.2.0* My first thought was that this would be an awesome app to use! Snap take a picture and then look at it via vendor management was great! But when I got to the actual receipt management, part of it, I could only select my bank account. I wanted to put my credit card receipts on there via the snap mobile. My credit card should not be a bank account. I should be able to label it as BP card and add it to that card. The next thing that was disheartening, what’s the fact that I had to scroll through every single account to find the account I wanted to post it too! Why can’t I just start typing my description of the expense account???? Too much time involved!
