## What is QuickCaptions?

Add subtitles to a video directly on your iPhone. QuickCaptions transcribes the speech and embeds the subtitles in the picture. No account and no uploads.

Recognition happens on the device. The video never leaves your phone and there is no sign-up. It goes online only for models: the recognition model, a few hundred megabytes, downloads once before your first clip, and a translation model comes down the first time you pick a language. The rest of the time it works with the network off.

WHAT IT DOES

Takes one clip from the camera or your library, or one shared from another app. Recognition starts automatically, with nothing to set up first.

Turns speech into subtitles and embeds them in the picture. Because the text becomes part of the video rather than a separate track, it remains visible after sharing, uploading or re-encoding. It looks the same in a message, a reel or a short.

Works out on its own which language is being spoken, so there is nothing to choose first. It understands the European ones: Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish and Ukrainian.

Uses the system typeface, so Cyrillic, Greek and Central European characters are displayed correctly.

Translates the captions into English, on the phone, for the languages it carries a model for. The translation runs one way and, like the rest, never leaves the device.

Lets you correct any line before you export, including names, places and jargon that were misheard.

Can remove pauses automatically, making the clip shorter and tighter without manual cutting.

Exports through the standard share sheet: choose the video with embedded subtitles, a version with pauses removed or an .srt transcript.

Reads only the clip you hand it. It never asks to go through your photo library, and the whole clip is processed, start to finish.

WHAT IT DOES NOT DO

It does not open a subtitle file you already have. It listens to your video and gives you back your video, captioned, plus the .srt it wrote.

It is not a full production suite. It does the one job.

FAQ

Can I put subtitles on a video on my iPhone?
Yes. Pick a clip from your library, or share one in from another app, and the captions are written and burned in on the phone itself.

How do I add subtitles to an already recorded video?
The same way as a fresh one. Anything in your library goes through the same single pass.

What does burn subtitles into a video mean?
It means the text is drawn into the frames, so it plays back anywhere, in any app or on any site, without a separate subtitle track to switch on.

Can subtitles be automatically generated?
The app listens, writes the lines and places them; you only step in to fix a word.

How do I add subtitles to reels on iPhone?
Caption the clip first, then share it on. Because the captions are burned in, they stay put wherever the video is posted.

How do I export SRT from a video?
QuickCaptions saves the text it recognised as an .srt alongside the video, so you can hand the file on. It writes that file itself, it does not open one you bring in.

How do I remove silence from a video automatically?
Ask for it and the gaps between speech are cut from the export.

Can I subtitle a video without the internet?
Recognition runs entirely on the device once the model is downloaded, so aeroplane mode is fine.

How do I translate subtitles to English?
The app translates the lines into English on the phone, from the languages it has a model for. The rest are recognised but not translated.
