The app has its limitations but for the price it is handy. It’s hard to manage large numbers of blocks, and you can’t copy/paste, undo, or shift blocks within a quilt. You need to start all over again. It’s also sometimes tricky to get the color accurately represented from the real life fabric samples ### 3/5 — Variety in block patterns *2025-01-13, version 1.46* It would be nice to have curves and rectangular blocks. ### 4/5 — Fantastic! but I have two requests.. *2024-04-15* I love that this app has so many easy to use features, effectively combining multiple apps into one, and doesn't require a subscription to use, however, the only two things I find kind of annoying is that when placing a fabric image into a space, I cannot reposition the photo to accurately showcase certain patterns, and when creating custom block templates, the amount of shapes is limited. This poses an issue to me when trying to digitize some of the blocks I have pattern cards for and I'm trying to fill all the negative spaces. Also, just as a curious side note, I see empty slots in the shapes wheel in the custom block template builder, and I'm wondering how to acquire more shapes to fill the empty slots. ### 2/5 — Too Limiting *2024-01-13* I was excited to use this app, it’s easy to learn and has great POTENTIAL! Be that as it may, it has a lot of limitations that are totally frustrating. It is very limited in it’s design unless you want straightforward traditional quilt design, but if you want something unique, the app isn’t there. It limits you to one border. When selecting blocks, you see ALL of the blocks you have made, even if you only want to see a select few. The only way to get rid of “seeing” all the blocks is if you delete them, but to delete them you also have to delete all the quilts that use the block. I’ve written the developer a couple of times, but I doubt they will ever make the changes, so I do not recommend getting this app at this time. It’s kind of a dead end, such a shame. ### 3/5 — Needs an upgrade *2023-02-22* Sort of ok for the price, but lacks some very basic functions - it is particularly frustrating that there is no capacity to ‘undo’ actions nor to duplicate quilt or block designs. Otherwise, it’s an adequate way to design basic quilts for folks on a budget. Some less fundamental criticisms include (but are not limited to): the difficulty of managing blocks when you’ve created more than about 30; a lack of a rectangular or triangle grids for block placement in quilt design; limited ability to use circles or curved piecing. (Also there’s no cloud backup, so there’s no way to recover your work if the app is accidentally uninstalled. But on the plus side, that means the app doesn’t track you) Since there’s been no upgrades in many years, I assume these limitations will never be addressed. ### 3/5 — Need more options for customization *2022-05-26* Great app, and I love that I can design custom blocks, but we need more options for editing within that. For starters, we need different shapes, or to be able to draw completely custom shapes. Hexagons would go a long way! Also need more triangle sizes and options, filling out the grid instead of having to overlap which of course the app doesn’t like and it makes the design harder to see. I wanted to completely design custom quilts and while this is good for fitting the blocks together, I find myself having to just sketch my block design out on paper because I can’t capture enough detail on this app. ### 4/5 — Good start, but…. *2021-12-27, version 1.46* Just started using this app. I’ve added some fabrics and designed a block. But now that I’ve added fabric to my block, I can’t save it! I keep getting a message saying that I must “complete” the block before i can save it. DK what it means by complete…. I think it IS complete! All the blocks are filled with fabric. The app transferred, but no images that I spent so much time adding on my previous iPad, only icons with ? marks! I’ve tried to email Quiltography multiple times since June, no one has ever responded. The other frustrating thing about this app, it can’t be use on an iPhone. Sadly it has not lived up to expectations. When I first purchased it I tried designing blocks but they wouldn’t save. I contacted Quiltography through their facebook page asking for guidance. There has been no reply to what is now my third message to them. Today when I opened the app the design a block tool isn’t working at all. I’ve been to the Quiltography website but again can’t find any way of contacting the company. Each element to represent something meaningful to the couple. I love that I can create my own border & blocks. Being able to take a pic of the fabric and try it out before purchasing, cutting or sewing is wonderful. It doesn’t have a lot of ability with curved designs and I was surprised it did not have the double wedding ring block in among the 40 or so built-in common blocks. It has many built in traditional blocks (conveniently ordered in alphabetical order) but you can easily design your own. I’ve taken classes and watched videos on how to find great color combos, but nothing has really helped until Quiltography. The app allows me to design a block similar to what I’m working on, add photos of my fabric into the block and move them around until I get what I’m looking for. The last quilt I designed had irregular sized blocks and the thought of laying out a king sized quilt on the floor was daunting. I placed my blocks in the app and I refer to it as I pieced it together. I’ll always use this now. I also bring my iPad to the fabric store so I can easily refer to my fabric needs. Would like to see an upgrade to organize fabrics and blocks by project.
