Not sure what the initial cost is for. Very disappointed. ### 3/5 — Basic is okay; Log Cabin add-on is worthless *2024-04-23* The basic app is okay if you don’t mind spending money for a simple graph paper. There were some nice papers for nine-patch designs and half-square triangles. The Log Cabin add-on was useless. Of the several grids included only one was a Log Cabin and it couldn’t be manipulated. The rest were a mish-mash of patterns not remotely similar to a Log Cabin. ### 3/5 — Ok enough for simple things *2020-11-14* I was looking for a graph paper app to help me draw up some block designs. This fits the bill and I like the ease of using the paint function, but there isn’t enough functionality - you create your graph paper and start designing, but then can’t change anything about the graph paper (ie to do hsts, unless you added triangles to your graph to start with) without starting over. ### 4/5 — Lovely. Thank you! *2018-05-19* I was a little nervous about purchasing, given the reviews. I’m glad I did. Even with the in app purchases, I spent $3 for an app that will allow me to design paper piece honeycomb blocks and hexagons. I was able to easily select the pattern, color in blocks, undo colors, and save my work. I like the different shading options for the colors, too. Its a con! ### 1/5 — Very misleading be prepared to buy buy buy *2017-10-18, version 1.10.1* The only thing you can do in this is create a grid- it looked like you could color said grid (why I paid for this app in the first place) you cannot- unless you pay even more. Very extremely limited capability ### 1/5 — Do not buy!!! Very Misleading... Can NOT color *2017-10-10* The app preview did not indicate the app had ratings. I should have checked the reviews tab. Not worth the money. You can only create a grid design. You can not color the grid to make any designs! Any feature that seems to intuitively be apart of a quilt design app requires an in-app purchase. The photos are very misleading! **Developer response:** The 1.10.1 release added a much requested ability to color in designs and was available through an in-app purchase. In the 1.10.5 release, the color capability was included in the base app. Coloring also features a unique long-press paint capability which is aware of the grid pattern and makes it easy to step and repeat your patterns across the design. One also has control of the stepping, to alternate patterns in a checkerboard fashion, for example. The grid design that comes with the app does provide the ability to also do diagonals, sashing and cornerstones which is great for many quilt designs. The coloring feature will work with all the different add-on designs such as hexagons, 6 and 8 point stars, honeycombs, and more. The 1.14.0 release added the ability to annotate the coloring pages with text and lines - again included in the base app. ### 1/5 — Misleading preview images *2017-09-29, version 1.8.0* ORIGINAL 4/8/17 REVIEW: The preview images for this app make it appear as though you can color in your graph paper in the app, which is the reason I bought it (and the color palette expansion). I'm sure this is a fine app for people who color their designs on paper. I'm very disappointed. UPDATE AFTER DEVELOPER RESPONSE 9/29/17: Developer added the ability to color the grid in-app, but, after misleading myself and other reviewers with screencaps, it's an ADDITIONAL in-app fee? Sorry, I'm even more annoyed now. ### 1/5 — Not at all helpful app *2017-08-30* I am an avid quilter and thought this would be a great app to lay out designs. For reasons everyone else has explained it's far from being that. Very disappointed. It's good if you want to print out the paper or page then draw on that, but I believe that defeats the purpose of having an app like this **Developer response:** Thank you for your comment! Feedback from you and others inspired us to release a new version of QuiltPaper that we think gives you the feature you are looking for! In this new release, after creating your grid; tap the Paint Can icon to bring up a palette of colors and choice of patterns to “color in” the shapes on the grid. This is a new in-app purchase feature that works with all the different papers — at the same low price as all the others! (Update: coloring feature now included in base app). Cannot access. Unacceptable. ### 1/5 — Not what I expected *2024-01-06* I was looking for an app to help with quilt design, but I can not wrap my head around whatever this is. I’m not sure if it’s just more technical than necessary or really user unfriendly. Really wish I hadn’t bought the extra pages before I realized that. I’ve never been able to get anything to work the way I hoped or expected. ### 1/5 — Worthless *2022-08-06* Just wanted to grid my own designs. There is no customizing it’s just duplicating. The grids you created ARE there -- Here's how to get to them [1] Open the paper type (Grid, Dots, etc.) [2] At the bottom of that list page are three buttons... My Papers, My Paint, Quick Picks. The grids you created are under My Papers. If you use the coloring feature on a grid, you'll find painted grids saved under My Paint. [Quick Picks is a short-cut to the set of quick start grids for that particular paper.] That said -- thank you for the feedback! We'll step back and consider how to revise the app so that others don't get frustrated. Not very user friendly and requires too many in app purchases. ### 1/5 — Zero Stars! *2018-02-04* If you think this would be a great way to design a quilt or block on graph paper you are wrong. Every thing you want to do costs more money and it's not clear that you will ever find a way to design a block and print it. I really should have listened to all the other reviews but I just couldn't believe it was as useless as everyone said. If you want to send someone 99 cents for nothing I suggest that you find a deserving charity instead! **Developer response:** Now you can use all features with the included Grid, Dot, and Diagonal papers. When you purchase to access all papers all the time, you can color and design the way you want and then export it to print it out. Fantastic app for quilting designs. ### 5/5 — What I’ve been looking for *2024-04-08* I’m happy to finally find this. It’s simple to use and very effective for quilt planning. ### 5/5 — Perfect for EPP *2021-07-16* Using this app to make perfectly fitting English paper pieces! Switched from plastic tracing templates and purchasing precuts to the precise fitting shapes I can print out. I still cut out the pieces, but saving lots of time because it always prints to scale so no more guessing/fussing at copier. Also, love the print to scale because I am not limited to the scale/size of patterns and precuts. ### 5/5 — English paper piecing *2021-03-08* Needed an app to plan designs so far I love it no starting over if you make a mistake. Also love the fact you can print out hexagons to any size ### 5/5 — Great for basic patterns *2020-01-02* Was looking for graph paper that could be coloured in and this is exactly what I needed. Yes there are a ton of in app purchases for other template shapes but honestly it’s not necessary. You can add so many lines to your graph paper for HST quilts, add boarders, etc. Easy to fill in, choose your own palette colours, and undo colours. Great value for the price ### 5/5 — Very accurate *2019-03-02* I’ve only started doing EPP. There is so much on line about how to do it and various patterns. The difficult part is getting accurate sized printouts of paper pieces to do your project— without having to spend a lot of money on kits. This app allows you to make make your own— and also prints them out 100% accurate. I always measure each shape to check this, and it has not been wrong. I haven't needed to adjust my printer so far! I haven’t purchased everything— but i like that it has so many options. Will jewels/pentagons or houses/pluses be added? ### 5/5 — Great for English paper piecing *2018-09-06* If you purchase the coloring option and the hexagon paper (99cents each) it works great to plan a table runner for EPP. It's not Electric Quilt, but I don't think it was meant to be. ### 4/5 — Copy and paste? *2022-02-04* I had no trouble using the grid. In fact I made some things I really liked. My problem is that I made one quilt block pattern and I would love to cut and paste it into a quilt sized grid to see how it looks as an actual quilt.
