### 4/5 — Better than others

*2026-08-05*

This app is great compared to others. I just wish it would count for sometimes I only want to hit a cigarette or smoke a half a cigarette to help with the reduction and it doesn’t allow any input for that. I think that would be a great thing to add.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback! We’re glad you’re enjoying Alive.

We understand how smoking only half a cigarette or taking just a few puffs can be another way to reduce. The difficulty is that building the program around this would make tracking much more complex, since the number and intensity of puffs can vary considerably.

It could also make the process more demanding for the user. Having to constantly count puffs or decide whether each cigarette was a half, a quarter, or some other amount can turn tracking into an extra task throughout the day and eventually become tiring.

That’s why Alive intentionally keeps cigarettes as a simple unit and focuses primarily on gradually increasing the time between them. We want reducing to be something you can follow without having to constantly measure every detail of your smoking.

Thanks for sharing your suggestion and for giving Alive a try!

### 3/5 — Developer Help, Please?

*2026-01-06*

I really like this so far and it is way better than other apps but I can’t set the day schedule thing to match with the hours I am awake. My day usually doesn’t end until 3am but the app always resets the counter at midnight and it is so stressful because then I technically go over and then I feel bad so I am stuck in a loop of not being able to move forward. Please help Mr Developer I just need to be able to have the counter not go to the next day until like 3 or 4am

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks for your comments!

The day does reset at midnight, and I understand this can feel confusing if you stay up late.

What’s important to understand is that this works the same way every day. Cigarettes after midnight count toward the new day, then cigarettes after midnight the following day count toward the next one, and so on. Because of this, the overall pattern stays consistent over time, even if your personal day ends later.

What often causes issues is relaxing late at night and then starting the next day with a higher count early on, which makes it easier to reach the daily limit. That’s why what really helps is respecting the waiting times and the schedule you set at the beginning of the program.

As long as you keep recording your cigarettes and follow those waiting times, the program continues to work as intended — even with a late schedule.
Regards!

### 4/5 — Helpful but haven’t quit

*2025-10-20*

I’ve had this app for about 3 years and redownload it every 7 months or so. I have never been able quit but I know it’s been a helpful tool. And there are so few tools/apps that actually help (ugh so much on the market was clearly never designed by anyone who actually struggled to quit). I really wish it had a widget so I could make it more visually accessible. The one time, lifetime membership is nice. Yes expensive, but if it helps you cut out even a fraction of your cigarettes it will pay for itself quickly. Hoping this go will stick.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words and for sticking with it — every try truly counts. Each attempt brings you closer to finally making it happen, and the fact that you keep coming back already shows real progress. Wishing you strength and calm for this new start!

Regards!

### 4/5 — Good so far!

*2025-08-13*

I’m enjoying the app so far! I was looking for an app that could help me gradually decrease my smoking without fear mongering. It does this well and it’s very useful for holding myself to account. My only complaint is I wish it had an option for hand rolled cigarettes!! All the apps are based on ready rolled so it’s hard to estimate it for me as I roll my own. Also when you roll your own it’s easy to just smoke half rather than a whole ciggie in one sitting, so that would be an amazing setting I would use. Thanks though!

### 3/5 — Just downloaded it

*2025-04-09*

Simple to understand and use. I do wish there was a widget. I’m feeling confident about this though.

**Developer response:** Hey thanks for your comments! We will take it into account for the future ! I’m glad that you like the app!
Regards !

### 4/5 — Great app

*2025-02-16*

This is a great app! I literally downloaded every app in the store trying to find one with a timer. I did the free 1 week trial and smoked less than normal. Wasn’t sure about paying for it so went looking for another and ended up back here and paying.

My only issues are I wish we could choose the amount of time we want to quit (Personally I wanted to quit in 1.5 months) and my second issue is I would love a timer that actually notifies my phone with a sound. I feel like a week for each phase may be too long, maybe an option to move to the next phase halfway through the week? Otherwise great app!

**Developer response:** Hi thanks for your comments !
The pace of reduction of smoked cigarettes each week (time of the program) is to try to avoid anxiety as much as we can without compromising progress.
We avoid reminding our users to smoke but make it clear on screen with a silent notification to help to get a longer time without consumption.
Enjoy the phases that feel easy and don’t advance phases til you feel totally comfortable, this way you help your body to get used to less amount of nicotine and other chemicals.
Regards!

### 5/5 — Excelente app falta para el watch

*2025-01-08, version 1.38*

### 2/5 — Time change

*2024-11-05, version 1.37*

I thought this program was excellent until the time change, now it ihas actually lost a day. It thinks I have smoked 2 cigarettes today (Tuesday at 12:08 AM) but I have just smoked one, and didn’t track any of Monday’s…there was a time change Sunday wonder if this is why.

### 5/5 — Finally an app that actually helps you quit

*2024-09-30, version 1.35*

I’ve been searching for an app to help me track my smoking habit to help me cut back. All the other apps out there assume you have already quit or plan to quit cold turkey. This is the only app I’ve found so far that actually allows you to be honest with yourself and track your goals. The only thing I would like to note is that, the app assumes that when I go for a smoke break, I only have one smoke. But sometimes I have 2-3. Having a built in feature to account for this instead of just saying “smoke ahead of time” each smoke break would be greatly appreciated.

### 4/5 — Gentle app

*2024-09-25*

I’ve been smoking for most of my life and have tried every method in the book to quit. This is the only method that has successfully gotten me to cut back and I am confident that I will be able to quit using this method because it is so gradual - I have time to develop healthy coping mechanisms as I wean off. I am on phase 5 and already notice a huge difference in my quality of life.

My one criticism is the same as others: I wish it let you set your sleep schedule! I frequently go to bed after midnight so I would love to be able to set the count to restart for the day when my alarm goes off in the morning. I also wish it would let you set the number of hours you usually sleep. I sleep about 6 hours per night so I have to remember to wait for a certain amount of time after the notification goes off, and calculate how much time that is every phase, so I don’t go over. I paid a lot for this app so I am slightly disappointed that these features aren’t available, thus the 4-star rating.

### 3/5 — Great start to this app, needs tweaking

*2024-09-20, version 1.35*

This app is a great idea but I think it needs some tweaking before I would pay for it. You should be able to edit things instead of having to delete the entire app and reinstall, starting from scratch. It would be super helpful to be able to adjust the time of your start of day and end of day. I smoke after midnight so waking up and seeing that I’ve already started into my allotted cigarettes per day is a bummer. I do like the timer aspect, that has helped me so far. I’ve looked into my subscriptions and I do not see the option to remove the app before the free trial is over. I sure hope you don’t charge me without offering the option to back out. I feel like this is a great app but just not quite suitable for my needs at this time, unfortunately. Best of luck!

### 2/5 — lost progress unless keep paying

*2024-09-18, version 1.35*

It sucks that my progress is gone now unless I keep paying. Super unfortunate theres no free version

### 2/5 — Let down

*2024-08-07*

Struggling to keep up with the new age where money is the only thing that matters.
This app is a clock. Takes the number of cigarettes you smoke a day. Divides that by 24 or 16 and gives you stopwatch. Has no alarm to let you know when it’s time to smoke.
Then sadly after an effort to save a life. It demands a $.
I just come from a different age where all of this struggle was helped. And people were just good to be around.
Your generation is lost.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your comments!
The monthly price is less than the cost of a package of cigarettes a week (average price in the world). And was planned for you to save more money than what the app costs over time, In addition to the health benefits.

We are regular people and making this app is our job and we need to make money as everybody else. App developers have to eat too and get paid for our work and ideas!

### 5/5 — So far I’ve cut my consumption by half

*2024-06-25*

I like how gentle this app is when it comes to stopping

### 4/5 — Apple Watch

*2024-06-12, version 1.32*

I wish it was available in Apple Watch!!!
Otherwise, love it!!

### 1/5 — Wish it was free

*2026-01-03, version 1.42*

Great app has really been helping so far but after a week you can’t use it anymore unless you pay. Deleted it instantly. Will find another app that does the same for free.

### 1/5 — Impossible de se servir de l’ application

*2025-10-06*

Merci

**Developer response:** Bonjour,

PÉSIMA. Juegan con la salud de la gente. TE COBRAN A LA SEMANA DE COMENZAR y NO hay OPCIÓN GRATUITA. VERGÜENZA!!!!!!!!

### 1/5 — Good but …

*2024-04-09, version 1.32*

It was sort of working during the trial period but then they wanted $99 bucks after that! I’m in Australia and assume this was USD which is way too much for us overworked, overtaxed aussies, should be more like $20 AUD and I drive for a living so can’t touch my phone while driving and smoke regardless of the timer - needs CarPlay functionality. Not worth the money.

### 1/5 — 🤬

*2023-12-08*

It would be possible to make it free actually.

**Developer response:** Hi hope you are all right! Apps developers have to eat too and get paid for our jobs and ideas! We are regular people. Do you rate and get mad to the market for not giving you the groceries for free ?
Hope you reconsider your rating you are affecting other peoples work.

### 1/5 — Mal

*2023-05-13, version 1.32*

Es de cobro

### 1/5 — Worked great until undisclosed free trial ended

*2023-02-27, version 1.32*

This would have been a 5 star review, until the “free trial” ended. I read everything carefully, and nowhere did it say that app would need a payment of $25 per month after 2 weeks. I might have still used it, had this been disclosed before downloading.

### 2/5 — No adjustment

*2026-06-16*

This app doesn’t adjust to the way I smoke. It does simple math to set the time for next cigarette.
It should see that I smoke 4 cigarettes in a row sometimes and shorten the time between smokes to account for that knowing I won’t wait 25 minutes to smoke but maybe 10-15 at first. I smoke more in the morning and at night. There should be an algorithm that takes all these factors in to account. I may have to find an app that can do that.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks for your feedback.

The idea behind Alive is actually a little different from what you’re describing. The goal of the program is to gradually help users increase the waiting time between cigarettes and build longer periods without nicotine.

If the app continuously adjusted itself to every smoking pattern, it would also need to account for weekends, workdays, vacations, parties, stressful situations, holidays, and many other variables. In practice, that would often reinforce existing habits rather than help create new ones.

Our approach is intentionally simpler: gradually separate cigarettes so your body gets used to longer periods without nicotine, regardless of the specific situation or time of day.

That said, different people prefer different methods, and we genuinely hope you find the approach that works best for you. Thanks for giving Alive a try.

### 2/5 — App géniale mais…

*2025-12-02*

### 5/5 — It really did help.

*2026-06-17*

2 years and 5 days today, and I thought it would never happen. Give it a try, or 10 tries until it works. It’s definitely worth it.

**Developer response:** Amazing! Congratulations and thanks for the review.

### 5/5 — Top !

*2026-06-04*

### 5/5 — Finally

### 5/5 — This works!

*2025-06-12*

I essentially never review apps, but this one… Worth it. I started with a pack a day habit and when I say I’m addicted to nicotine, I really REALLY mean it. I’m on week 4 and I have already reduced my smoking by 41%— I’m a week ahead of schedule. This is the first program I have ever used that I’ve seen any real and sustainable progress with, without terrible withdrawal symptoms. Each week so far I’ve had to increase my time between cigarettes by 5-10 minutes. It’s also made me more aware of times when I’m prone to smoking more (like when driving or in the morning), so I’m more conscious about changing my patterns. This is the first app I’ve ever seen that takes a flexible and gradual approach to quitting—every other app I’ve seen focused on cold turkey which just wasn’t going to happen for me. It does cost $10 a month after the free trial week, but it honestly more than paid for itself in its first week as I was buying less cigarettes. I highly recommend this to anyone who struggles with quitting.

### 5/5 — Excelente.

*2025-03-17, version 1.39*

### 5/5 — So far, I really like it.

*2025-02-16*

I’m at the end of my first week and I’m happy so far. At first I thought it was too easy but after a couple of super stressful life events, the app has shown me how easy it would be for me to smoke way more than my usual. I do expect to complete the program and stop smoking and have started recommending it to others 🙂

### 5/5 — Quit smoking

*2025-01-11, version 1.38*

I love this app.
