### 4/5 — Helpful for quitting BUT

*2026-08-08, version 2.47*

This app has been great for my quitting smoking journey with the exception that the games do not work at all and the calculations on the money have been saving are wrong. Everything else has been great.

### 2/5 — Not What I Was Hoping For

*2026-06-26, version 2.47*

This app is frustrating. It tells me I have “x” number of things to do. Nowhere does it tell me what those things are. The tips are not useful.

There’s a date on the home page marking when I joined the app. It counts up from then, not my quit date. So…the app is more important than my accomplishment. Okay.

There is a “distract me” with games. Only one generic flappy bird on works. Everything else is you staring at a loading screen with what looks like a rocking, highly traumatized panda.

Is he traumatized because this app keeps reminding him about smoking when he’s six months out? Or that the app doesn’t care that he’s said he’s doing fine? Maybe!

### 4/5 — Suggestion

*2026-06-20, version 2.47*

Would like to be able edit the prices to see how much money I save. I don’t just buy smokes, I typically spend about $25-30. Would be nice to be able to see that running total in the app.

### 4/5 — Great App but…

*2026-04-08, version 2.46*

This is a great app from the cancer society, and it is completely free with no ads which I really appreciate. It provides tips throughout the day and even offers distraction activities to help curb cravings. The only issue I have is of the five or six games that they have, only one of them work this whole time I’ve had the app. Same thing happened with my husband only one actually work. I would give this five stars if the games would be functional within the app. Would also like to see more physical health related improvements that are occurring during the quit process. But overall, I would recommend this app to help people during the quit process.

### 3/5 — I’m disappointed

*2026-03-13, version 2.46*

I enjoy seeing my health progress but this app doesn’t offer anything close to that.
All this is, is a check-in app with a daily quote that I wrote or the app chooses to encourage me which is nice but I just don’t get it.
We all have friends or family members who would be much better at seeing encouraging things to us and just reading quotes from your app.
The part that encourages me is to see the progress of my health like; blood- oxygen levels and my heart rate and my pulse and everything other apps give you things like that is much more encouraging than this App is, I’m sorry but it’s not helpful at all.😭

### 4/5 — Great Idea

*2026-03-11, version 2.46*

Needs a revamp ASAP- great concept but had way too many glitches and errors, very frustrating

### 3/5 — For smoking, not vaping

*2026-01-17, version 2.46*

I download the app bc I’ve been trying to quit vaping. I saw an ad about a teen vaping and decided to go to the website in the ad and found the app. While answering the questions I noticed they all talked about cigarettes and not vapes. I thought maybe it’ll start asking abt it after a few more questions. Then it got to questions like “how many cigarettes do u smoke a day?” I can’t answer that bc I don’t use cigarettes and using a vape is not the same as using a cigarette. So the app is not a not help with my problem. Maybe update the app with vaping solutions as well as smoking.

### 2/5 — It’s ok

*2025-11-15, version 2.46*

It mostly does what it says it will. I don’t really find it helpful. I found other things that have been supporting me that better match my needs. I think the most annoying thing is that it is keeping a running count from when I got the app. Not when I quit. And when I open the app, that ongoing count continues from then. Who cares when I bought the app?! When I put in my quit date, I expected the count to be from then. Nope. And to have to delete it and start over seems a lot to do when it could just be a setting.

### 4/5 — Helpful

*2025-10-14, version 2.46*

this app isn’t going to make you quit if you aren’t ready to. But, this app helped me get over the hump from wanting to actually quitting.

Knowing I was going to get that check in message helped. Knowing I was going to be asked how many times I smoked in the last hour was a big motivator for me when a craving hit

### 5/5 — Definitely Recommend!

*2025-09-27, version 2.46*

They are a great help in quitting smoking!

### 3/5 — Good but needs to be updated

*2025-09-07, version 2.46*

I like it so far but the games do not load which makes it hard to have a decent distraction when I need one other than that all the features work fine.

### 5/5 — Great App!!

*2025-08-24, version 2.46*

Great App!! Got asked a lot on how I was doing. Gives you great quotes to help you through. Have been able to be without Nicotine for 2 weeks right now because of the apps help! Helped with changing my mind from thinking I need a cigarette to no cravings! I have tried to quit many times. This has helped so much!!

### 4/5 — Free and Helpful

*2025-08-23, version 2.46*

I appreciate all the features of this app. The reminders, the tips, the distractions, all beneficial on a daily basis.

### 5/5 — Who doesn’t need help?

*2025-08-17, version 2.46*

I needed to quit smoking but wasn’t quite able to on my own. I’m succeeding though on day four smoke free. I’m getting supportive texts checking in with me multiple times of the day. I have a written quit plan complete with other things to do when a craving hits with the help of this app. It’s free and separate from medical insurance that in my case would have had negative consequences. Thank you to the developers.

### 3/5 — Start Date: August 06, 2025

*2025-08-06, version 2.46*

I’ll return periodically and update my rate based on the quality and usefulness of the app.

### 2/5 — Not user friendly

*2025-08-04, version 2.46*

It tracks how long you have quit, but beyond that the features are lacking and difficult to find. The games intended to distract during cravings don’t function if you can find them. Other, better options available

### 2/5 — Wouldn’t be bad….. but

*2025-07-29, version 2.46*

Games don’t work

### 4/5 — Has some issues

*2025-06-25, version 2.46*

I really want to like this app. It is confusing and not user friendly though. There’s no real way to “check in” it doesn’t let me read the full messages it’s sending, I’ll click on something and it’ll take me somewhere else entirely. Honestly it triggers the need to vape so I may not try much longer.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Awkward, unintuitive

*2025-12-16, version 2.46*

I don’t really find it helpful. I found other things that have been supporting me that better match my needs. I think the most annoying thing is that it is keeping a running count from when I got the app. Not when I quit. And when I open the app, that ongoing count continues from then. Who cares when I bought the app?! When I put in my quit date, I expected the count to be from then. Nope. And to have to delete it and start over seems a lot to do when it could just be a setting. Fortunately other things helped me quit.

### 1/5 — Loading and challenges

*2025-08-02, version 2.46*

I can get the distraction games to load. I go to write on a challenge and it just kicks me off that page. Had high hope for this app.

### 1/5 — Let down

*2025-02-16, version 2.46*

This app used to be so amazing. It really actually did help me quit smoking, unfortunately due to traumatic event in my life I did pick it back up, and when I turned back to this app to quit again, I found out that all the information it had led me to believe was true to help me quit. The first time was a lie and now every time I try to quit smoking, I just have it in my head that everything about quitting is a lie can’t trust nothing. It has prevented me from being successful again Because of the way it was set up originally. They should be sued honestly.

### 1/5 — Fail

*2025-01-21, version 2.46*

The district me page has several games that sound great to a person like me. But they’ve never loaded! I do a challenge or two, and it doesn’t give the credit. Crack it up to another bites the dust.

### 1/5 — Games don’t work.

*2025-01-04, version 2.46*

I see there was an update for the games to work, but they still don’t work, at least for my phone. An iphone16.
I think distraction is important in my quit smoking journey, having to write to you is stressful in itself, so..will there be a fix for this app anytime soon?
Sigh.

### 1/5 — ?

*2024-11-03, version 2.46*

Not sure, it’s only been 22hrs but the app won’t quit hounding me to rate it so here’s my review and a star…I’ll know more in a couple months if the app actually helped me quit smoking or not

### 1/5 — This app is horrible!

*2024-07-03, version 2.46*

You’re better off going to Facebook and joining a quit group. This app constantly crashes and couldn’t play the distract me games.

### 1/5 — LAME

*2024-01-10, version 2.45*

The app won’t let you properly set a quit date without it already starting from the time you sign up.

### 1/5 — Me

*2023-09-03, version 2.45*

It is not helping me at all

### 1/5 — Very buggy

*2020-01-24, version 2.30*

The iPhone version has a bug (as of January 24th, 2020) that places a banner near the top, which cuts off the top half of the options at the top. On certain screens, it prevents people from selecting options that are near the top, effectively rendering those features unusable. There’s also nowhere within the app to provide feedback on the app, which makes it very difficult to report bugs/issues, or make suggestions.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Felt supported

*2026-05-17, version 2.47*

I liked the progress updates the app offered. Ie.how much you saved (for me the $ was about half of what the cost actually was - showed I had saved 120 in 2 weeks and that was actually the cost for one week) still helpful to watch the dollars add up. I also liked tally of smokes that I’ve said no to - that’s inspirational to keep going. I would absolutely recommend this app to someone who is ready to quit smoking.

### 5/5 — Great app.

*2026-02-18, version 2.46*

Great app!! I’ve found all information so helpful. I love how they actually make an effort to help you. I found that the positive affirmations really help.

### 5/5 — Helpful

*2026-02-17, version 2.46*

Easy to navigate. Lost of ideas to identify triggers, ways to manage cravings and withdrawal, i love the motivation quotes and encouragement and reminders to focus on the positives but remember the reality and consequences of continuing smoking

### 5/5 — A necessary tool for abstinence

*2026-01-13, version 2.46*

I'm always happy to have this little helper friend to turn to the instant I feel weak. It gives me the delay and distraction I need to catch myself and block the impulse. Just another shield!

### 5/5 — It’s very helpful and free

*2026-01-07, version 2.46*

Thank you

### 5/5 — Great free app

*2025-12-19, version 2.46*

Actually committing to it and using the tools and reminders on the app does help. I’ve now been nicotine free for 8 months. I vaped to quit menthol cigarettes but vaped for years. Now I’m free and that feels pretty awesome.

### 5/5 — Never shy away from offering assistance!

*2025-11-07, version 2.46*

Help when needed is true help indeed!

### 5/5 — Necessary tool

*2025-11-04, version 2.46*

I use this everyday and it’s been over 200 days, coupled with other strong tools, tapering patches, etc. good luck you can do it

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2025-10-22, version 2.46*

quitSTART can be a great tool to help you quit smoking. It’s been a great influence and a positive distraction that reminds me of what I want to be my end goal.
