Originally A Good App But Malfunctioned and Poor App Support
I originally downloaded this app via AppAdvice which was offered with a free lifetime subscription if downloaded within the 24 promo period. (AppAdvice/FreeApp is no longer in business.) I verified under Settings-Media and Purchases, that I had successfully downloaded/registered as a free user with a zero charge.
Initially, the App worked flawlessly sending me daily reminders. Then, after a few months the app changed by seeming to convert to a subscription basis offering three tiers of fee based subscription on the paywall. Each day I saw a “free trial “ on the paywall.” Now, after several months, each day I’m presented with a free trial Home Screen. I’m able to go into the App, Settings and tap “Restore “ which seemingly resets the App - but This Doesn’t Hold requiring me to perform a restore Every Day.
I contacted App Support via the Apple Store - Contact Developer. Initially, I was transferred to a webpage stating Zendesk: Oops this Help Center No Longer Exists. It displayed the PatgGroup site which produced a page requiring my name, email, and a mailing address and phone number. I was surprised because this was asking far too much personal information: a personal address and phone number? Definitely a potential security risk! Most support for Apps use an email contact system for support.
Otherwise, within the Quote of The Day App itself - under Settings-General-About: there is a Chat Live Option. I tried this and within a few hours I received what appeared to be a response from Douglas Palme (Director of Software Development) who said he wanted to resolve my “trial status” expediently and would escalate this to upper management but a response “might take a while” - seems contradictory. I attached several screenshots shots to demonstrate my issue and reflect what I was seeing. In the chat mode, I very clearly explained the issues.
So far, two weeks later I’m still waiting for a response as I daily check the chat live text thread I originally started - with no further response from PatgGroup who developed the App or Mr. Douglas Palme, Director of Software Development.
It’s now become annoying to have to restore my original free subscription daily which doesn’t hold across any of the IOS Devices to which I installed the App - all reflect the same Restore Message and Free Trial (for a limited time.)
Where does the pendulum swing? What is considered a reasonable period of time to respond and fix an app issue? Interestingly, this is juxapositioned against the frequent App Updates by the App Developer while the App itself is still malfunctioning. They apparently find the time to do App Updates but fail to address App Failure.
If not for the change to a fee based status and lack of a timely response to fix the problems identified above, I would have awarded five stars. But, for the foregoing reasons I can only rate the App as two stars for original app content. If the App Developer timely fixes my problem, in a reasonable time, I’ll be happy to reevaluate and amend my rating.
05-12-26: Update
This is an amendment to my earlier evaluation of the App.
Once I established a live communication with Mr. Palme from within the App, he has been responding positively and to my surprise - often within a few hours! Clearly, Mr. Palme and his development team have been toiling tirelessly with a single view towards getting the App to work and eliminate any issues. I’m elated to comment that Quote Of The Day: Daily Wisdom is now working in all regards and providing me with great support and Mr. Palme’s efforts clearly reflect this.
In view of the aforementioned, I am pleased to reflect a five star rating with a ten star rating related to app support and commitment to frequent weekly updates of new supportive quotes. As an App, I’ve seen other versions in the Apple App Store which don’t seem to offer the versatility, scalability and content that Quote Of The Day Offers. Moreover, having seen some of the other similar apps - some of them seem to me to be a bit “flat” or “static.” Quote Of The Day even has a music tract that is user selectable and the ability to set multiple reminders.
I hope other customers will give this App the chance it deserves. Clearly, the App Developer and Management deserve this!

False Marketing
They market a “free lifetime subscription”, you download the app and there is now lifetime subscription. You visit their website to contact support and their “Zendesk” has been disabled. Wrote email without a response. I made a mistake of doing an in-app purchase to see if the $0.00 lifetime subscription would show as a coupon and that made me lose money or give them free money on FALSE MARKETING. Don’t fall for their trap. They DO NOT HAVE A LIFETIME subscription. And the free to download app is worthless to use.

Response from developer
We are sorry you feel that way. Our lifetime free promotion ended two weeks ago. We ran it for one weekend only. It does not appear that you attempted to purchase it during that time period. In addition, we have no record of any email from you and our help system has been active since the 1st of December. We have verified our systems are up and running. If you sent us an email we would have it as a ticket. It would also send out a message to our support staff and CEO. Please contact our support at support@patggroup.com for assistance. We will update this review upon receiving your email.
Absolutely love this app!
I have it set to send me an alert right before I start my work day and I find it refreshing to get a positive comment to get my day started out right!
Highly recommend this app for anyone who is looking for a way to get the day started on a positive note.
