No joke I was about to build an app for myself with what I felt I needed. Thankfully this gets pretty much all the way there. Only feedback would be: - let me hide the date organization/grouping on the main page - would love some sort of “marketplace” of quotes to discover. Maybe even following friends and such. Almost like a Goodreads for quotes ### 5/5 — Exceptional *2024-11-03* If you just want an app that collects quotes, this app does the job marvelously. If you are a total book nerd and love to save great quotes, this app is a must have! This is the only app other than social media that I use regularly. I love being able to save all the quotes I come across that I love into one place and love that I can tag them so I can easily find them according to topic or author. I even save great quotes from friends and mentors and I refer back to this all the time! I also love having a notes section so that even if I have the author saved, I can make a note of what book or website it came from. AMAZING app and costs me nothing. Some suggestions include - integrating with CloudKit if possible so that the quotes follow us when we use a different device like an iPad or on a computer. - auto complete for authors field ### 5/5 — Perfect App *2023-06-22* Simple and exactly what I want out of the app! I love to jot down and collect down quotes from all over. Having one place to keep them organized is wonderful. I have to have a way to back them up, which is a feature of the app too! I just hope the app doesn’t disappear from the App Store like many of similar ones have in the past. I lose many quotes when that happens. ### 5/5 — At last! *2023-04-27, version 1.14* So delighted to have found this app - as a previous reviewer mentioned, a worthy successor to the Quotebook app that was dying a slow death. Really grateful for the intuitive .csv import function. Awesome. ### 5/5 — Love this app - wish it was still updated *2023-04-15, version 1.14* This is the only app I have found that does exactly what I need. My only gripes are: it doesn’t get updated anymore, iPad/Mac support, the import feature from CSV is useable but having issues with it. Even with these issues I think its the best app for my purpose. Update: Developer reached out and implemented some great fixes & general improvements AND they made the app free - happy that others can experience this app! This is the perfect app for quotes. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Deleted my quotes *2024-12-19, version 1.16* Randomly deleted 1/4 of my quotes suddenly. I had backed it up one day before but lost a whole slew of new quotes. ### 1/5 — Deeply flawed *2024-02-03, version 1.15.2* This app would be great if I could share quotes from my iPad to my iPhone. Without that functionality it’s lame. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2020-05-10, version 1.6.4* Search function doesn’t work. ### 2/5 — Font and UI is very small *2021-04-23* There is absolutely no option to change the font and the font size is so incredibly small I don’t think it even uses system font size. It is the tiniest font on my phone and it’s not a black color so it almost washes out against the bright background. Literally giving people the option to change the font and size and making the color black would go a long way to making this even half as good as Quotebook. Too bad Quotebook never updated for bigger phone screens because the UI is still better. I paid for the full app thinking I would have more options in preferences. **Developer response:** Quotemarks dynamically adjusts font sizes based on your system settings. If you go to your iPhone’s Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Sizes > Larger Text. You may need to quit and re-open the app for a couple places to take affect. You can also write to me at support@quotemarks.today and I can explore what else I can do — Chris ### 3/5 — Great idea, but unstable *2024-03-02* This is a wonderful app, but it is unreliable for some reason. I first noticed my Tags disappeared randomly. The some quotes vanished. To be sure, I started putting numbers on quotes. To my astonishment, some quotes just vanished. The calendar is a complete mess, I don’t even know what it is doing. I began to Export frequently when realizing the app was losing notes. The Exports would keep multiple copies regardless if you selected Replace when saving under same file name. I still use the app, because the concept and the simplicity make it a great idea, and I don’t have any other app can replace it. It is definitely buggy and unreliable though. Hope the developers can fix it. It is a well conceived idea, clean, simple and aesthetically pleasing. **Developer response:** Hi, if you email me I am happy to investigate. I’d need to isolate the specific scenario you are seeing to resolve it. Most likely old data is saved just fine, but I could imagine an issue where an update to an entry is not saved. And yes, scheduling UI is imperfect and some of UI refreshing can be janky. I publish bugs and feature backlog on the app’s website. ### 3/5 — Bad start *2020-03-08* I purchased this as a replacement for the legendary Quotesbook app as it says it will allow me to use it with my old data. Much to my dismay, the tags function does not work. I was testing this and put in a quote I liked and found nothing I did makes tags work. No help section to know what to do. **Developer response:** I would like to get this resolved for you. The website has support topics that include importing. Although there’s a lot that can “go wrong” the import process is far more detailed than any other app offers. This is a new feature. Best, Chris ### 3/5 — A good start, but improvements needed to fit my goals *2019-10-22* My goal is to have quotations that I write push to me at a regular cadence. This app doesn’t quite help me reach that goal. When I try to schedule a quote to push to me, the only option I get is to have a push today. I want the app to remember to remember these quotes, not me! So say every 60 days I read quotation A. Then tomorrow I read quotation B. Then another 60 days from tomorrow, I get to read quotation B again. Thank you for your feedback - Chris ### 4/5 — Great Improvements *2023-02-23* This app is good for storing quotes. It has clean appearance, backup and import capabilities, and the notification feature is nice. With the newest release it has taken several big strides forward. I hope that users of the app will support the developer’s efforts to keep making this app better. I’d enjoy additional features for harvesting quotes, like dupe check, author drop down, and better integration with automation (shortcuts, url action, etc). I recommend this app If you’re looking for a place to store quotes on IOS. ### 4/5 — A decent successor to Quotebooks *2022-12-19, version 1.12* For the longest time, my favourite app for clipping and saving quotes was with Quotebooks. However, ever since support was discontinued, the app has steadily declined with each passing iOS release until I had to accept it was time to migrate my collection of passages to a new home. The problem with trying to find a quotes app is that most are not like Quotebooks, they do not want to help you save lines of interesting text but instead provide you with an endless stream of empty motivation quotes. Quotemarks on the other hand is the spiritual successor with almost like-for-like features. You can quick paste from your clipboard, it will automatically download the author's profile photo and you can organise by tags. It helps that they also have a CSV importer so you can move quotes out of the old app. A neat feature they have is a quote of the day widget, however it only shows recent quotes that were added. It would be great to have a widget that displayed random ones from your library. Overall, a good successor that is worth supporting and is in active development as the most welcomed new feature is the iPad support added at time of writing. ### 4/5 — Great App for Readers *2022-10-17* This is a great way to collect and tag interesting quotations.
