## What is R66 Cockpit Trainer?

R66 cockpit trainer

Avoid hot starts and make yourself familiar with the startup process of the Robinson R66 turbine helicopter.
The complete panel and also the cyclic, collective, pedals and rotor brake are animated. All switches are working and need to be operated in the correct sequence in order to start the engine successfully.

You can choose from random failures or select a specific scenario such as:
- Hot Start (you will need to do the correct actions to abort the start correctly)
- Starter Sluggish (the battery voltage will be low and you need to make the right decision)
- MGT too high (there will be a high residual temperature)
- Oil Pressure Failure

Also there is an 'No Error Mode' This enables you to try all buttons, do all checks without any consequences. CFIs can use this mode to setup scenarios for their students.

The check begins with the 'Starting Engine and Run-Up' checklist (Battery, strobe switches - ON ... etc)
and concludes with N1 stable at 65% to 67%.

There is an in-app-purchase available that enables to begin the checks with the 'Before Starting Engine' checklist.

The app uses the initial cockpit design.
For further information on how to avoid hot starts, please check the training section at www.robinsonheli.com

### 2/5 — Doesn’t Work

*2026-05-22*

It’d be awesome if it would just work in the first place. On regular mode you can’t get past putting on the fuel cutoff guard (there is none) and no checklist item afterwards can be completed. On “no error” mode you can’t even get the starter going. I can’t believe it cost $25. Ridiculous.

### 2/5 — In app purchase

*2025-11-05*

It’s a shame this app isn’t supported as I have just paid £25 for it and can only do the start until the engine self sustains and nothing else. Can you please enable the in app expansion or please can I have my money back.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2024-08-19*

This app on iPhone is garbage, doesn't work

### 4/5 — Great Training App

*2022-01-26*

There is the occasional fuel cut off issue but it doesn’t take long to re start the app. Any plans for more helicopter cockpit trainers? Bell or Airbus?

### 5/5 — Excellent revision for startup

*2021-06-14, version 1.5*

Works as advertised. Very useful to refresh on startups prior to flights.

### 2/5 — The scenario is incomplete

*2021-06-08, version 1.5*

The app says it includes “start engine and run-up checklist”. But the simulation ends after “N1 is stable at 65% to 67% “, so you can’t finish the rest of the checklist.

### 1/5 — Where is the rest ??

*2020-11-15, version 1.5*

I need a full refund as I thought a weight and balance fill in was normal....please refund as this is a rip-off !

### 2/5 — Fuel cutoff bug still present!

*2020-09-26*

See other reviews. Please please fix this .... very annoying!

### 3/5 — Fail during start procedure

*2019-07-25, version 1.5*

When i touch the fuel cutoff to pull it out an error occurs and finish the mission.

### 2/5 — Good but needs work

*2019-07-21*

Bugs need fixing , throttle control being first
