Four open strings, four lanes. Racer is a racing game you steer with your instrument. Play the G string and the car moves to the far left. Play the E string and it moves to the far right. The app listens through the microphone and recognizes which string is sounding — there are no other controls. THE JOURNEY The track does not stay the same. You start in meadowland among fields, cows and farmhouses. Then a tunnel takes you into the jungle, where elephants stand at the roadside and macaws cross the sky. Beyond the jungle it turns dry: in the desert, dromedaries stand by Bedouin tents and mud-brick houses, pyramids rise on the horizon — and now and then a sandstorm blows in. After that the road leads into the sea: the water rises slowly past the camera and you drive on across the sandy bottom, past a sunken temple and shoals of fish. A snow landscape follows, with snowmen and piste groomers, and finally the moon, with a research station and the Earth in the sky. Between the worlds nothing is switched. You drive there. WHAT IT IS REALLY ABOUT Changing strings quickly and cleanly, without looking — an exercise nobody does voluntarily. Here you know at once whether you hit it: the car keeps going, or it doesn't. No explanation needed. FOR VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO AND DOUBLE BASS Each instrument brings its own open strings — for cello and double bass arranged the way you see them while playing. Three speeds, from gentle to fast — for the first month of playing as much as for the tenth year. If you keep crashing early, the game quietly gives you more room: fewer obstacles, a flatter climb. Drive well and you will never notice it. ALONE OR AGAINST EACH OTHER • Leaderboard on your device, one entry per name — noting what it was driven with • Tournament for up to four players taking turns on the same device • Challenge codes: send someone a short code and they drive your exact track at the same speed — however far away they live NO INTERNET, NO DATA COLLECTION The sound is analyzed on your device only, while you play. Nothing is recorded, nothing stored, nothing transmitted. No account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics. The app opens no internet connection of its own at all. The journey now runs through six landscapes. Beyond the jungle the road crosses the desert — with dromedaries, Bedouin tents, mud-brick houses, a caravanserai and pyramids on the horizon. Instead of pianos, a darbuka, an oud and a riq stand in your way. And now and then a sandstorm rises and swallows the distance. Important for cello and double bass: The lanes now match the strings as you see them while playing — the string on your left steers left. Until now the order for these two instruments was exactly reversed. Also: • "Restore purchases" is now in the start menu too, already during the free trial • The number plate shows the strings of the chosen instrument • Redrawn cows in the meadow • In tunnels, stars and obstacles no longer appear in front of vehicles still driving ahead of the tunnel • Rain, snow and sandstorm now also veil nearby objects Tell me what is missing. ### 2.0 — 2026-09-07 The journey. The track now runs through five landscapes: meadow, jungle, underwater, snow and moon. Between them nothing is switched — you drive there, through a tunnel, or the water rises slowly past the camera. Also: • Double bass as a fourth instrument • Turbo strips on the road: a short boost, and obstacles are swept aside • Crash early a few times and the game quietly gives you more room • The leaderboard now notes what a score was driven with — instrument, finger or keyboard • The screen no longer dims while you play • The microphone notice can be tapped away if you are on a call Plus many small corrections to display and pacing.
