## What is RackDocs?

Remember When You Knew What Everything Did?
You know the feeling. You're three hours deep into a patch on your Eurorack (or Buchla, or Serge, or 5U rig), riding that creative flow, when you can't remember if that switch toggles the quantizer or unlocks some hidden LFO mode you discovered last month at 2 AM.

Or worse, you finally saved up for that complex module everyone raves about. The manual is 87 pages of dense tables. There's a switch upper left. And three knobs. A mysterious LED that blinks in morse code. You patch something, it sounds incredible... then forget how you got there.

RackDocs was born from exactly these moments. Built by someone staring at their rack, trying to remember what switch position enables through-zero FM.

YOUR RACK, ACTUALLY DOCUMENTED

Forget dusty manuals and half-remembered forum posts. Take a photo of your module, mark it up with everything you discover, build your own personal wiki. Every hidden feature. Every switch position. Documentation on your terms.

Works with Eurorack, 1U, 5U/MU, Serge, Buchla, and more.

BUILT FOR EXPLORATION
• NEW: AI annotation extraction—point at a manual or PDF, get all controls identified automatically
• Photo-based—faceplates are already the perfect reference
• Auto-snap to controls (tap near a jack or knob, circles detected automatically)
• Smart image editing (crop that cluttered desk out)
• Import specs from ModularGrid (why type HP and mA manually?)
• Multi-format support (3U, 1U, 5U, Serge, Buchla—we don't discriminate)
• Annotation tools that make sense

DOCUMENT EVERYTHING YOU DISCOVER
• 12 annotation types for every control (not just "knob goes brr")
• Multi-context documentation (Normal Mode vs. Secret Alt Firmware Mode)
• LED behavior tracking (solid/blinking/pulsing/existential crisis)
• Switch position guides (up = quantized, down = chaos, center = ???)
• Multi-step operation notes (tap this while holding that)
• Copy/paste annotations

CURATED NEWS FEED
  • Eurorack news, videos, and new module releases - all in one place

COMMUNITY LIBRARY
• Many modules documented by fellow patch nerds
• Share your discoveries
• Vote on documentation (yay or meh)
• Verified accounts prevent random chaos

SYNC EVERYWHERE, WORK OFFLINE
• iCloud sync across iPhone, iPad, and Mac (patching happens everywhere)
• Full offline mode (studio has no WiFi anyway)
• Your data stays yours (unless you decide different)

ORGANIZE THE BEAUTIFUL CHAOS
• Search by name, manufacturer, or custom tags
• Sort however your brain works
• Export cheat sheets as PDFs or images (print them, share them, flex on Instagram)

PRICING

Start free with 5 modules, 5 community downloads and 5 exports. Try it, see if it fits your workflow.

If you like it:
• Monthly - No commitment. Cancel anytime.
• Yearly - Best value. Less than a patch cable.
• Yearly Supporter - Locks your price forever. New features, same rate. For those who hate price increases. Supporter badge!
• Lifetime - Pay once, own forever. No subscriptions, no renewals. Support indie development, not investors.

Why subscriptions? Servers cost money. Development costs time. This keeps the lights on and lets me build what you need.

WHO MADE THIS?

A modular enthusiast tired of scribbling notes at 3 AM. Someone who's bought complex modules, discovered secrets over weeks, then forgot everything after a creative break.

PERFECT FOR:
• Beginners drowning in manuals and tutorials
• Live performers needing instant reference (no PDFs on stage)
• Collectors managing systems too big to memorize
• Gear heads who RTFM and want to share knowledge
• Anyone who's thought "this module did something cool last week"

Download RackDocs. Document your discoveries. Patch with confidence.

Your rack is unique. Your documentation should be too.

### 5/5 — Good helper

*2026-01-22*

But 50€ is way too much even though it’s a good app.

**Developer response:** Therefore I offer way cheaper subscriptions.

### 5/5 — Awesome Learning Tool

*2025-11-29, version 1.4.1*

A must-have for any modular synth hobbyist or pro. Having a cheat-sheet at your fingertips for your modules is a convenience that is hard to do without now, and sharing my own to the community library has helped me immensely in learning what my modules are capable of.

### 5/5 — Just what the Doctor ordered

*2025-11-25, version 1.4.1*

This App has made a huge impact on my Eurorack experience. Very well put together. So easy to use, intuitive, and thorough. Only thing that could make it better is the ability to sort your library by function.

I use it to learn modules (what better way than writing down what everything does in an organized fashion). Sure, it’s a little bit of work, but I find it highly rewarding. And there’s an ever growing selection of modules submitted by users who are obviously committed to detail. I also find it essential as reference when my memory fails - which happens more frequently as I acquire more modules and I get older.

Highly recommended.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7.2 — 2026-04-19

Made small improvements and fixed bugs to help the app run smoother and more reliably.

### 1.7.1 — 2026-03-03

- Fixed the "iCloud sync error" banner appearing on every app launch even when iCloud is working fine - Sorry for that!
- Fixed downloaded community modules appearing as duplicates in your library
- Previously downloaded modules now show a checkmark in the community browser instead of a download button

### 1.7 — 2026-02-27

A new News tab brings you the latest videos, articles, and new module announcements from more than 50 curated sources, all in one place. Free for all users, no subscription required.

- Browse the latest from your favorite Eurorack YouTubers, synth news sites, and manufacturer channels
- New module listings from ModularGrid appear in your feed as soon as they're added - often before official announcements
- Read articles from Synthtopia and Create Digital Music alongside your video content

- Content is ranked by relevance to the Eurorack world, so the most important news rises to the top
- Tap any card to open the original content in your browser
- Optimised iCloud syncing and added sync error detection - a subtle banner now alerts you when sync fails (e.g., iCloud storage full or not signed in), so issues no longer go unnoticed

### 1.6 — 2026-02-11

AI-Powered Annotation Extraction

The biggest time-saver since auto-snap: instead of adding annotations one by one, you can now point RackDocs at a module's manual and let AI do most of the work.
- Tap the new sparkles button in edit mode, paste a manual URL or open a PDF, and the AI will identify all knobs, jacks, switches, buttons, LEDs, and other controls
- Each annotation comes with its label, a description, and type-specific properties like switch positions, LED colors, and signal functions
- Review the results, remove anything you don't need, then add them all at once
- Annotations are placed in a grid at the bottom of your faceplate — just tap to review, then long-press and drag each one into position
- Works best with detailed manufacturer manuals that describe every control

Usage Limits by Tier
- Free: 2 extractions
- Monthly: 3 per month
- Yearly: 5 per month
- Yearly Supporter: 10 per month
- Lifetime: 150 per year

### 1.5.6 — 2026-01-06

Resolved an issue that caused some older community modules to fail downloading.

If you use modules that were uploaded before combination sorting was introduced, they will now download and install reliably again.
