### 1/5 — Rip off

*2011-04-01, version 1.1*

Do not buy this app. Just map with numbers on it.

### 1/5 — Don't buy

*2011-03-31, version 1.1*

Pure rubbish would rate zero if could

### 3/5 — It does show real time but....

*2011-03-30, version 1.0.0*

It does what it says, you would be surprised how many sci-geeks really know nothing about techie stuff and app development, agreed need to fix the over lapped reading so u can see. Nothing monitored in the Midwest? What about Callaway in MO?

### 1/5 — Absolute Rubbish

*2011-03-30*

Its just a simple image file with overlapping readings. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I want my money back!

### 1/5 — Very basic

*2011-03-29*

You can't even zoom in to show more than one reading in a location. For example, there are five readings around Tokyo (where radiation readings would be useful at the moment) but you can only see one of them. No controls or anything. Given this is a promotion for Black Cat Geiger counters, a very poor app.

### 1/5 — I want my 99 cents back!

*2011-03-28, version 1.0.0*

Wow...someones making $ out ripping how many people off.... Save your $1.

### 1/5 — Ripoff

*2011-03-27*

It's a ripoff! Do not buy! Doesn't do anything! I want my 99 cents back!
My rating is 0 stars

### 1/5 — How can Apple allow this?

*2011-03-27, version 1.0.0*

Terrible. Rip off.

### 1/5 — RIPOFF Alert -- Absolutely worthless.

*2011-03-26, version 1.0.0*

Timely blatant money grab. Avoid this app. It allegedly displays realtime values of unknown units. Calling it barebones is being too kind... a map with colored dots with numbers. Dots clustered do not allow zooming or any way to see values hidden beneath others.

Looks thrown together as a total ripoff. Expected an honest useful app and value. Found neither.

The developer should be ashamed for this fraud, Apple should be ashamed for allowing this to get through scrutiny.

### 1/5 — Lame

*2011-03-25, version 1.0.0*

99 cent picture of the world with numbers on it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bad app

*2024-10-09*

Map is displayed
No radiation readings
Do not buy
App is broken

### 1/5 — I should have read the reviews.

*2023-07-30*

As a proof of concept it would have been ok if it was free, but zero is exactly what it’s worth.

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2022-07-05*

The app shows very few counters so few world wide it is not worth it. You can find better data on the web.

### 1/5 — DO NOT BUY THIS APP!!!

*2015-09-17, version 1.2*

This app is useless! Doesn't show accurate live data at all! Total ripoff! >:(

### 1/5 — totally useless

*2015-06-23, version 1.2*

unlike other apps from black cat this one is worthless. hitting the green circle just shows a black screen. As another reviewer mentioned
there are only a few site. I would have expected at the minimum around nuclear plants.

### 1/5 — Not enough info

*2014-04-13*

I was hoping this map would be something like the Safecast. It is not. The lack of information about the equipment used to produce the measurements also makes the data set suspect. They really should have used uSv/hr or equivalent. I do regret purchasing this app.

### 1/5 — Poor app

*2012-08-10, version 1.1*

Can see whole world and only a map of what appears to be outdated info.

### 1/5 — Don't do it!!!!

*2011-04-15*

Don't buy this app!!! It's just a map, with no legend, instructions, explanation or anything! I feel like a fool for purchasing this! Don't make the same mistake I did.

### 1/5 — None

*2011-04-12, version 1.1*

Just a map

### 1/5 — To simplistic should be a free app

*2011-04-09*

Right now this app is nothing more then some dots with numbers on it and not worth getting.

I recommend adding more to it such as more info on what the numbers mean. I don't know anything about radiation. So give me a button leading to a chart telling me things like what level a microwave puts out, how much the sun gives off, what an Xray machine puts out, how much a modern bomb an release, what level becomes lethal, etc... just some point of reference.

Also you say the data gets updated often please provide a chart should the last time the sites gave you new data. I want to know if a site has not pushed new day in a while.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best Application

*2015-06-21, version 1.2*

if can display the graph, black screen is shown up by tapping the circle.
Is there any setting needed to display the graph?

### 5/5 — Rad Map

*2014-11-21, version 1.2*

I agree with other ratings that this is the best radiation map on the web. Dirt cheap too.

### 5/5 — App is RAD!

*2014-10-13*

Everyone should have this.

### 4/5 — Monitoring Glen Rose Plant

*2019-07-29, version 1.3*

I started using this app while researching radiation exposure planning. With a nuclear plant nearby, I had discovered reports of high levels of over 300 for several days a few years back. The reports were from the public and stated even with multiple calls to the plant (one posing as a higher govt agency), no release of information was given out to the public.
As I searched, this was the only option I found for real time monitoring. There were originally 2 sites right at the plant reporting. Those went away leaving only 1 in the DFW area.

### 4/5 — Good mobile version of website

*2012-05-26, version 1.1*

Those of you calling this a waste... You're idiots!!! Now pay attention: black cat systems makes hardware radiation detectors that interface w computers. This is not a government run service, it's strictly voluntary. When an owner of the hardware is testing the radiation level, it registers on a map for all to see. The more people testing, the more readings. This app is a mobile version of their map on the website, nothing more, nothing less and it's worth a buck for me to have access to the info. If there's no reading in your area do us all a favor and get some friends together, buy a monitor unit, connect it to your computer and let us all see what your readings are. Oh and I don't work for the company, I'm just a guy on the west coast concerned about the impending Fukushima disaster.

### 4/5 — Black Cat is Great!

*2011-06-01, version 1.1*

Really nice radiation detector! And great that he made this app.

I think the app should have a help file explaining what the units are. It doesn't explain this anywhere. And ability to show trends over time. Also would love color coding for levels. Everything is green but high numbers could be yellow/red. One reading of 213 still showed as green.

### 4/5 — Decent app

*2011-03-31, version 1.1*

Decent app allows you to zoom and scroll around the map to see what various readings are. I would give this a 5 if able to switch from map to satellite view.

The ability to choose a radious around a certain location/current location to give push alerts if values raise more then a given amount would be most helpful. I want to thank the developers for reading the old reviews and listning to them making this app much better, thus my purchase of it!

### 4/5 — Current levels shown

*2011-03-29, version 1.0.0*

Not flashy, but did exactly what I wanted. Saves me from logging on to the Internet. The levels were the same as the web every time I double checked.

### 4/5 — GREAT!

*2011-03-25, version 1.0.0*

This is a very simple app, with no options. But that is all that is needed. It shows live readings from the blackcat Geiger counters connected to the system. This is the only app like it, so please buy and support! Perhaps blackcat will be motivated to make improvements in the future. Very useful to know what the gamma background is in multiple states.

### 3/5 — Heh

*2012-10-11, version 1.1*

Quickest dollar I've ever blown.
