Once I started it however, it said I could play for free for an hour, or pay 4.99 a month to play it, and I do NOT think that’s fair. I’m going to delete this song but it made me very sad that I couldn’t play it 😭😭. I hope you consider what I’ve put in this review. It is fast and easy to play. But I went to get on to play today and Halfbrick is now forcing a halfbrick subscription to play. I’ll keep the game for about a week to see if they undo this, but if they insist on making people pay a subscription to play, I’ll have to say goodbye to this game and Jetpack joyride. Both of which I’ve played for nearly a decade. Under different circumstances I’d give 5 star reviews for these two game. Fun game, but once updated, I lost every, not kidding, EVERY bit of progress. All the items I’d unlocked, bought with in-game coins: GONE! I lived and breathed Radical Rappelling, so I’m sure you can imagine my excitement when I saw it back on the App Store. I decided to download it for some nostalgia and had a blast until I had been playing for around 30 minutes. I was then greeted by a large pop up which stated something along the lines of having 30 minutes left of my guest period? I was a little confused but shrugged it off and decided to keep playing, assuming that it was just an attempt to encourage a purchase for no ads or something along those lines. Oh how wrong I was. I soon came to realise that if I wished to continue playing this game I would have to purchase a subscription in which you pay for monthly or annually. I felt my heart sink deep into my chest and I began writhing with anger. In disbelief I looked at reviews and took it to Google thinking I must surely be wrong. I wasn’t. This is nothing but a desperate cash-grab and absolutely scummy behaviour from halfbrick and I guarantee that this will only cause them to lose money as well as loyal fans and players. Their primary demographic ( children ) will most likely not have the funds to be able to afford a monthly subscription scheme. However, I would like to offer some suggestions. It is unlikely that the average mobile gamer will be playing only halfbrick games meaning that a subscription would be rather useless in the grand scheme of things. Why not make the games a one time purchase and then offer in app purchases such as no ads etc? Or even offer a free subscription which allows players to enjoy the game but limits their access to some form of premium content which must be paid for. The games themselves are great however there are many other apps that offer just as much entertainment and are completely free. Just my two cents. ### 1/5 — Stupid subscription scheme *2025-02-26* I remember when I used to play this game for free with no worries about how long I was playing for, many years ago, when I was a kid. It was brilliant. And believe me, the game still goes incredibly great, but HalfBrick added this dumb subscription called HalfBrick+, which gives you about an hour of free game time before you have to pay for a monthly subscription that, be for real, you probably won’t use very often. It’s a stupid cash grab, not worth it. The hour you get is good, but then you don’t get to play again. And yes, it saves how long you’ve played for. Honestly that doesn’t bother me I just keep deleting it and re-downloading. You lose your progress but again I don’t mind and I enjoy doing the easier challenges.
