### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2021-12-23, version 1.4*

The radio feels solid. This is my first radio, but not my first experience in app development. It’s in really rough shape guys. I will have to return this probably.

### 1/5 — Needs work

*2021-09-04, version 1.4*

Every channel I input with ctcss set to off turns the ctcss code to 254.1. Highly annoying!

### 1/5 — Bluetooth not working

*2021-08-22, version 1.4*

The app worked perfect before it was updated, now not at all. Keeps saying updating……. Give us the older version

### 1/5 — Misleading App

*2021-08-08, version 1.4*

I bought the radio just because of the Bluetooth program and can’t use it because this app is trash.
It closes before you can finish programming a repeater. Don’t wast your time or money on this radio or app

### 1/5 — Great Radio, horrible app

*2021-06-16, version 1.4*

The app at this time is incomplete. Yes I'm using the latest IOs update. Useless BT functionality used in marketing of the radio if the app doesn’t work. Blank unfinished confirmation menus and BT connectivity indicates failure to connect.

### 1/5 — Completely terrible.

*2021-03-29, version 1.4*

This idea is genius. The app is terrible.

There are multiple configuration files supported, so you can change your radio programming at any time. Again, genius.

There’s a “clear” button in the programming screens, as you edit each individual channel. At any point, if you tap the clear button, all of your programming work is immediately deleted. Even across multiple files.

That’s a big problem. It’s not the only problem with this software, but it’s enough.

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time

*2021-02-12, version 1.4*

This is garbage, the update screwed up everything. Response from radiodity has been slow and painful. I would not recommend the GS-5B or the company.
This update is no better than the others. GARBAGE

### 1/5 — wow such broken

*2021-02-04, version 1.2*

i try to “save” and all i get is:

channel rx error

### 1/5 — Love the radio...hate the app!

*2021-02-03, version 1.2*

I bought the new GS-5B radio mainly because if it’s Bluetooth programming. However the Bluetooth programming does not work. Alway receive “multiples of 1.25 kHz” error.

So I tried manually programming the radio and reading from it. It pulled the programming but would not let me save or edit the programming. I have two radios and want to duplicate the programming.

App is a huge disappointment!

### 1/5 — Bluetooth Programming does not work.

*2021-01-20, version 1.1*

Bought a gS5B for the Bluetooth programming. Can’t even program in a local repeater, app just says “Multiple of 1.25 Kilohertz” and will not
Let you choose that frequency. Not great service since it is still not fixed. Highly disappointed.

### 1/5 — Beta worked.

*2021-01-20, version 1.1*

The Beta worked perfectly, now this is horrible.

### 1/5 — Needs work.

*2021-01-16*

The app needs a lot of work. Previous version was sort of OK. New version is not as good. It doesn’t let me enter a lot of frequencies. Please improve this app!

### 1/5 — Radioddity

*2021-01-05, version 1.1*

Please fix this. Beta worked better than this. Can’t market a radio and have one of its features not even work. Unacceptable customer support.

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2021-01-04, version 1.1*

Can’t even get it to connect to my phone through Bluetooth

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Reads but will not write

*2026-04-28, version 1.6*

Using my iPhone I can read from the radio but when I write to the radio it stops at about 80 % and displays Fail.
I then have to reset the radio to get it working properly.

### 1/5 — The app does not cover all Radioddity

*2026-01-11, version 1.6*

This app doesn’t work with the GM-30 PRO

### 1/5 — does not work

*2025-12-28, version 1.5*

Will “connect” to the radio but will not read or write. Virtually useless. Can they not fix this like B-Tech?

### 1/5 — Zero stars

*2025-11-05, version 1.5*

The app won’t work with iPhones (connects but no read/write). Zero support.

### 1/5 — This must be a joke

*2024-08-26, version 1.5*

Some pages have white text on a white background. That’s fun. Others leave you scratching your head. After enough trial and error, somehow I got it to work and make changes on the radio.

### 1/5 — Was working but now will not connect.

*2023-07-17, version 1.5*

The app connected very quickly when I first got the radio yesterday. It was working tonight and I made several channel additions. Now the Bluetooth will not connect. It just says updating for about 30 seconds and then a link comes up that says Update. The MAC of the radio shows on the iPhone screen. The MAC disappears when I turn Bluetooth off on the radio and reappears when I turn it back on. I rebooted my phone. I deleted the app and and reinstalled. Neither charged the behavior.

Before tonight it was working but there were some minor issues. Now the app is unusable.

### 1/5 — Works, but….CHIRP is better

*2023-05-24, version 1.5*

The app works. It’s clunky for sure, and not exactly easy to figure out without some help from YouTube videos, but I haven’t had the connectivity issues others have experienced. I have had one incomplete upload causing my radio to not receive transmissions as I had set it up to be a scanner for a race event. Good thing I had a backup plan. Ultimately, I ended up using CHIRP to really dig into it and discovered a lot of channels I had programmed in the app had not been programmed at all or were corrupted. I had to reset the radio to factory settings before I could fix anything in CHIRP. Long story short: use CHIRP if you plan on making lots of changes at once. It’s the only way to be sure everything is set correctly.

### 1/5 — App,is a hoax

*2022-07-23, version 1.5*

This app is a waste of time. Does not work.

### 1/5 — Terrible Software

*2022-05-28, version 1.5*

Absolutely terrible software. I tried 3 methods: The iPhone Bluetooth doesn’t connected, the Windows 10 software video doesn’t match the control panel options and it doesn’t have a Mac OS download. I regret buying this radio- unable to program using any app. BTW- I’ve spent hours combing through YouTube videos. The software linked -TestFlight had great reviews. TestFlight has been discontinued for the new software that has 1.5 reviews.

### 1/5 — App needs help, please!

*2022-04-30, version 1.4*

This is a great app that communicates with the radio flawlessly. That being said, the data going into the radio quite often does not interpret as expected. The result is a radio that is not accurately programmed with the data you input into the phone.

It’s my understanding the app used to work really well so what has happened? Please fix the app so it can continue to program the radio. The concept is great and makes programming so simple.

Thank you.

## Most praised reviews (6 highest-rated)

### 4/5 — Update

*2023-08-28, version 1.5*

There are 2 “panels”to connect the radio. Hit the uppermost panel and it connects right away. I don’t know why they don’t show a better separation. The only problem I found was I have to force quit the app and restart it to get the “write” to show up. Otherwise the keypad won’t go down. They could also change the color of some of the text fields to make it easier to read. 8Especially when saving.

### 4/5 — Convenient Radio Programming

*2021-04-23, version 1.4*

Seems to be intuitive enough to get the job done. The ability to program the radio from my phone is very convenient indeed.

Had to give it 4 stars because for some reason there is a bug that sets CTCSS Tx & Rx to 254.1 Hz. even though in the ‘codeplug’ it is showing as ‘OFF’ Easy enough to correct this in VFO mode directly from the keypad on the radio, however it really adds up in time when a user must go
to EVERY channel and set this to ‘OFF’.

I am running version 1.4 and would very much like to see this app polished up. Thanks to the developer for working on the bugs as they come up. It’s always a work in progress. I purchased this radio from radioddity mainly for the bluetooth programming and am enjoying the convenience. Also, running an iphone 7 plus.

Would also like to see the option to add custom graphics on the bootup ‘splash’ (Switch on icon)

Keep up the good work developers.

### 3/5 — Getting Better

*2022-06-17, version 1.5*

Version 1.5 is way better than the previous version. Thanks for fixing it.

### 3/5 — Suggested Feature

*2021-05-11, version 1.4*

I like this app and it’s usability but it would be helpful in the settings for the channel list to also display assigned channel labels along with the ID (number).

### 2/5 — It works! But it needs work

*2022-04-28, version 1.4*

I REALLY like the radio- and being able to program it VERY quickly on the fly with my phone is awesome. BUT…. The app needs some more fine tuning.

### 2/5 — Error

*2021-01-16, version 1.1*

Continue to get multiple of 1.25 error when inputting frequency
