I would happily recommend it to others. ### 5/5 — Audio Output diagnostic drops audio to zero *2024-11-22* Using the new built in TNC, when I do an “Audio Output Diagnostic” my output volume drops to zero. I have checked, double checked, and triple checked my “Reduce loud audio” option. It’s off. I am using a BTech APRS-K1 Pro cable to connect my iPadPro running iPadOS 18 (updated) and RadioMail (updated) to a GD-88. I can use SSTV (blackcat software) in this configuration. Please advise. **Developer response:** The BTech APRS-K1 Pro is not officially supported. Please create a thread on https://groups.io/g/radiomail so that we can provide you with the proper assistance. ### 5/5 — Almost perfect… *2024-11-09* I own the VGC VR-N76. Their KISS TNC mode (Bluetooth connection) is recognized by RadioMail as a TNC… And I have sent several messages with attachments. Would you consider making a “Pro” version of this app that includes a soft TNC (and allow for upgrade purchase)? There are a couple apps in the App Store that do this. Turns out that being able to connect my iPads/iPhones audio to a radio is a lot simpler (both with a cable and Bluetooth) and would make this app work with ANY radio… **Developer response:** Thank you for holding us to a high standard; we aim to delight all our users. The VR-N76 recently introduced a beta firmware with KISS TNC via Bluetooth, and we understand there are data transmission issues. We’ve been in contact with the firmware developer to offer assistance. Unfortunately, we don’t control the firmware, and there may be hardware limitations involved. We hope your rating reflects your feelings about RadioMail and isn’t diminished by aspects beyond our control. ### 5/5 — Game Changer *2024-10-13, version 1.3.5* As someone who does everything with their phone, this is a game changer for using Winlink on the go. Allows 24/7 notification of Winklink email and - amazingly works with Kenwood TH-D74&74 amateur radios. Even has ICS incident forms availability Vary impressed. Author must have hardware understandings. I was a beta tester for this app and have been around since its early days. If you’re a person who likes packet/winlink modes it’s a must have. The developer is very responsive and has made great efforts to expand the capabilities of the app for all users. On principal, this always gets you a 1-star review. ### 2/5 — Not working well at all *2025-11-20, version 1.5.0* Only able to use Telnet. No VARA and Packet not working ### 2/5 — No ax25? *2024-09-14, version 1.3.5* The fact this doesn’t have ax25 built in is crazy to me. I have tried every other packet app and been able to send and receive packets with either a headphone adapter or a digirig lite and for some reason the most expensive app is lacking a software tnc. On iPad with digirig APRS.fi is plug and play and even has a software tnc that runs in the background. That isn’t good enough for apple though so it’s locked down. I sure the dev being a perfectionist could do a great implementation of ax25 I just can’t figure out why that wasn’t an earlier step. ### 2/5 — Subscription based version *2023-09-19* I understand there is a need to make money but I hate subscription based software. It used to be you paid and bought a disc with the software on it and could run it until your computer died. I do not support subscription based software so unfortunately won’t be supporting this one. The creator charges for the use of forms which is the main purpose of winlink. I hope he does well in his venture. I will just use winlink on my windows laptop instead. **Developer response:** Appreciate your feedback and understanding your preference. RadioMail continues to be a one-time purchase, the subscription applies only to the optional forms, an approach that mirrors the ever-changing nature of forms. We trust many will continue to find value in the core email functionality, while others will appreciate the sustained support from a subscription. It's great that you've found an alternative that works for you. ### 2/5 — No internal modem, and no forms *2023-02-18, version 1.1.1* My focus is on internet-less function. I have the free WoAD app on Android. It works fine with the Digirig, and even just a headset port. Radiomail, a $15 app, does not work out of the box. It relies upon separate devices via wifi or Bluetooth to do the modem work. If I had a machine running Vara/Direwolf, I’d just use that machine. If Radiomail had built in modems, like Vara for add-on price, I’d be all in. ### 2/5 — Composed email disappears *2023-01-10, version 1.0.2* In writing an email on iPad, it is easy to touch something, and I don’t know what, and the incomplete email disappears. It does not show up in drafts. So, I am on third try. ### 3/5 — Works well with some fatal flaws *2026-03-18* A searchable inbox would be nice. The lack of a select all option for clearing the inbox contents makes using this regularly and seriously extremely painful. My biggest gripe is that one of the recent updates has resulted in Telnet being the default connection method as opposed to my most recently used station… this is HIGHLY annoying - I want to use my radio, I very rarely want Telnet. **Developer response:** Thanks for the detailed feedback. You’ve called out a few real pain points. Agreed on both items. A searchable inbox and select-all / bulk delete are on the roadmap. The current workflow is not scalable for heavy use. Regarding the connection default (Telnet vs last used), this is not intended behavior. The app should prioritize your most recently used station, not Telnet. We’ll investigate this and will restore expected behavior in an upcoming update if this turns out to be a bug. ### 3/5 — App locks up phone. *2025-11-25* Every time I open the app I click the envelope icon and my phone immediately freezes and locks up the phone. Only thing I can do is hold the power button til the phone restarts. 17 pro max. RadioMail does support pasting, but Winlink only accepts characters in the Latin-1 (ISO-8859-1) set, so any characters outside that (like “fancy quotes,” em-dashes, or other non-ASCII symbols) prevent the paste operation from completing altogether. Please try pasting plain ASCII text as a workaround. We’re working on smarter paste-filtering in a future update to automatically convert or strip unsupported characters. ### 3/5 — Lost me with the subscription *2025-04-20, version 1.5.0* It’s a nice iOS option but renting forms is not my thing. So if you’re hoping to purchase this app and play a full Winlink Express, you’re marrying a gold digger instead. Still, he started work on it right away and fixed the problem in a couple of days. Top notch program developed by an excellent programmer who provides exceptional customer service. Well done! Working with the developer to sort this out. Quick response from the developer, BTW, even on a holiday weekend. Hopefully, he can figure out the issue. **Developer response:** A freeze introduced in iOS 26.2 has been resolved. The updated RadioMail version 1.5.1 is now available and includes the fix. ### 5/5 — Fantastic *2025-11-23, version 1.5.0* This is a wonderful app, particularly with Varanny. It’ll change frequencies and download Winlink email from Vara FM or HF. I just wish it could be enhanced to directly connect to the IC-705 or IC-7300mk2 and do packet over the WLAN interface. ### 5/5 — Great app *2025-10-29* Installed it , booted my VGC VR N-76 , launched the KISS TNC on the radio wrote an email on my iPhone to one of my addresses and sent it .
