## What is Rail Statistics?

Say Hello to Rail Statistics!
The app you didn't know you needed is perfect for eager rail enthusiasts and regular commuters alike.

The app features a comprehensive station tracker for those who want to log and count how many stations they’ve visited. While we currently only have National Rail stations in Great Britain, we have more networks on the way in future updates. If you’re just starting, you can jump right in with all the stations ready to go!

Stay ahead of the game with notifications whenever a new station opens. Forget the hassle of manually entering new station details our cloud based database handles the heavy lifting for you, ensuring you always have the latest information at your fingertips.

Ever wondered how popular a station is?
It’s easy to find out with Rail Statistics, where you can view station usage data for the National Rail Stations dating back to 1998. With annual updates to the date once it becomes available.

Wondering what your travels look like on a map?
You can now quickly visualize all the stations you’ve visited and the ones you’re yet to cross off your list. First Class subscribers can also unlock the Station Action Bar, which allows you to update your visit status and mark favorites with a single, seamless click.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 26.08.1 — 2026-08-14

The next update arriving at Platform 26 is the 26.08.1 Rail Statistics service.

Calling at:

Network Interchange: You can now track all 51 stops on the Sheffield Supertram now in the app; just head to Station Settings > Edit Networks to enable it.
Advertisement Junction: There were some delays and bottlenecks with the ADs on the Maps page, which now use a better AD design. This should also fix the somewhat inappropriate ads that were being shown.

Mapping Central: By default, the Maps page now uses a much improved map from OpenStreetMaps + OpenRailwayMaps, with a new dark mode theme. In addition, you should notice that using this new map brings major performance improvements.
(You can default back to Apple Maps/Google Maps if you wish in Map Settings.)

Plus some minor tweeks and emptied those bin bags in the breeze.

### 26.06.1 — 2026-06-16

The next update arriving at Platform 26 is the 26.06.1 Rail Statistics service.

Calling at:
New Station Yard: Cross-border services commence! NI Translink and Irish Rail stations are now available (usage data currently delayed at the depot).

Signal Box: Quick filter toggles added for London Boroughs and NI/ROI Provinces.

First Class is located a the front of the train, serving complementary new filter options of Sort stations by newest/oldest visited, and filter by custom date ranges or years across the app.

THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
WIDGET ENGINEERING WORKS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT.
You must remove and re-add your existing home screen widgets after the update to resume service. With Widgets having been rebuilt with international flags and better customisation.

### 26.04.1 — 2026-04-25

Mind the gap between the old update and the new. Thank you for travelling with Rail Statistics.

### 26.03.3 — 2026-03-26

The next update arriving at Platform 26 is the 26.03.3 Rail Statistics service.

Calling at:
Bug Central: Where we have replaced some broken rails, that were causing app crashes. Alongside some performance improvements.
Search Street: A refubishment of the Search has been completed, with less bugs for a more reliable search.
Notification Road: We’ve updated the apps notifcation system to be more reilable and cause less gltiches and unwanted blobs on app icons.
Mapping: New map view options are avadable in Settings > App Settings > Map Settings. Plus OpenStreetMaps is now available in the app.
The Visit: A new option to disable auto-date stamping when you visited a station.

Mind the gap between the old update and the new. Thank you for travelling with Rail Statistics.

### 26.03.2 — 2026-03-09

The next update arriving at Platform 26 is the 26.03.2 Rail Statistics service.

Calling at:
Bug-Fix Junction: Where we’ve cleared the "leaves on the line" and terminated all post-release glitches for a smoother journey.
Database Central: Featuring a massive overhaul to fix mismatched stations and those "weird" locations that had trains stopping in the middle of the ocean.
The Boroughs: Now stopping at every single London Borough. You can now filter stations across all 33 London Boroughs.

This train is formed of 9 coaches. A buffet car service is available in Coach C: Now serving freshly brewed data and crisp, lag-free performance. Please have your tickets ready for inspection.

First Class Passenger Notice: To ensure a First Class experience at non-Avanti prices (seriously, it's free, unlike Avanti's £300 7 AM from Manchester to London), and to purge any legacy "ghost" locations, a database re-migration is highly recommended. We promise it’s faster than a replacement bus service, a cancelled Northern train, or worse—getting stuck on Avanti for 3 hours.

Please follow the re-migration steps by making your way to: Settings > App Settings > Remigrate Stations.

Please Mind the gap between the old update and the new. Thank you for travelling with Rail Statistics!
