## What is Railroad Crossing Locator?

Every open highway-rail crossing in the United States, on a map, fully offline.

242,826 crossings from the Federal Railroad Administration's Grade Crossing Inventory, current as of 18 September 2026, built into the app. No account, no login, no signal required.

FIND A CROSSING
Search by place, ZIP code or DOT crossing number. Type a town and the map goes there. Type a DOT number and it opens that crossing.

SEE WHAT'S THERE
Tap any crossing for the railroad, milepost, subdivision and division, the warning devices with their counts, track counts, train service and whistle ban status. Every field the railroad filed is there if you want it, shown exactly as filed.

WHEN SOMETHING IS ON THE TRACKS
The railroad's posted emergency number, where the railroad reported one, with the crossing number in front of you, which is the first thing the operator will ask for.

NEAREST TO YOU
The closest crossing is on screen the moment you open the app, with the ones after it a swipe away. A home screen widget shows the same thing.

DIRECTIONS
Hand any crossing to Apple Maps.

It makes no network requests of any kind. No analytics, no tracking, no accounts. Your location is used on your device to sort crossings by distance and never leaves your phone.

Data is the public U.S. DOT Crossing Inventory published by the Federal Railroad Administration. This app is not affiliated with or endorsed by the FRA or any railroad.
