Switching between cameras, or the tiny window that will not turn on a phone are not what you expect in a paid service. ### 4/5 — Issues *2026-03-04, version 6.0* Good app and use it every night but on the Boyce Cam on 3/3/26 the cam is stuck at night time and has been going all day but the time is still going. You can only hear the trains and I was waiting for NS 8099 but missed it due to the cam being frozen ### 5/5 — Thanks for visiting Virtual Railfan! *2025-12-14* I'm not sure why, but this always tells me this garbage when I'm on this App. It’s annoying and the website realize that I’m a member, and it needs to stop telling me that. I’m a member of the website and the App. It doesn’t need to kick me out for no reason whatsoever. It’s absolutely disrespectful, disgraceful, disgusting and despicable. This is absolutely disgraceful, disgusting and despicable. The site shouldn’t be doing this to me, I want absolute free access to the site and the App. I want you guys to please fix this issue. Also can you add another free camera for the other direction of the original ATLANTA, GA camera? I still want to see the other side of the yard so I can see the trains come and go. I gave it three stars because it is still pretty cool watching the trains, minus the static noise. But now, flipping through the cameras is virtually impossible because you get SO MANY ADS before each and any camera loads. I understand that the developer wants to make money, and I'm cool with the occasional ad to help them find their endeavor, but it's not like there is a guarantee of a train at the end of the ads. That's the difference between this and like a YouTube channel - if I pick a video I want to watch on YouTube, I'm guaranteed to get my desired content at the end of a 15-30 second ad. But to force people to watch 2+ minutes of ads that ends in empty train tracks is unreasonable, and if I try to switch to another camera to check I get to sit through another entire set of ads. It's bonkers, I hope the developer understands the degree to which this impacts potential viewership. ### 5/5 — Shows me a light brown screen, won’t let me continue and shows me a little black airplane icon *2024-07-31* Hi. I have a problem with the screen and it’s showing me a light brown screen that says RETRY every time I want to see trains. This is definitely a problem and an issue for me. Can you please fix this issue for me please and I’ll be extremely grateful if you can solve this problem. And what’s up with the little black airplane icon in it? What does that so? I have no clue what it does. These problems are so annoying. Please fix these issues and it’ll help me out a lot easier when I can start watching some great train action again. You could watch train streams all day with no interruptions. Currently, however, it’s nothing but a cesspool of ads. Live stream cameras seem to buffer more so than not and ads interrupt train streams every 20 minutes. It’s annoying and unfortunate. Deleted the app. ### 1/5 — Pretty good…but *2026-02-10, version 6.0* I was really hoping Railstream would have a Metra camera and it said $12 per month so I got really mad. The people should lower the price to about $10 per year! I will lose my mind if they don’t lower the price by next week! Most of the cameras never load properly. Even with a paid subscription, you get ads which you’re not supposed to get. Almost all of the multiview cameras that they had are now gone. Contacting support just leads in a bunch of excuses about how hard they try, and how they’ve kept their prices low. The price isn’t the point if the whole thing is garbage and not working from end to end to begin with. You guys really need to fix the problems with this app and streams. This is so much better than virtual real fan because virtual railfan you have to pay for a sub subscription if you even wanna watch a real cam both if you added the Thomasville and sea rail cam the good thing is that you can watch members only real cams on YouTube for free well virtual rail fan you’re gonna miss some trains cause you flipping have to use the members only on YouTube see those trains and Im just a kid. I can’t do that my mom don’t have the money these rooms are awesome virtual rail fan on the other hand. I mean, I don’t mind virtual fan but the fact that you can’t have it on like your iPad or iPhone without a subscription and that you have to have YouTube it sucks man this is so much better It’s like you only have five seconds before you can skip.
