### 2/5 — Continually crashes

*2025-12-10*

This has been a great app over the years, and is one of the few apps I use on my iPad, but right now it almost continually crashes. It doesn’t matter whether I’m reading the mag or syncing mags.

### 2/5 — Log in fail constantly

*2024-01-01*

I cannot log in with my Exact details. At all. They are the correct details but it won’t let me log in. Quite frustrating when I would like to read the digital edition. I subscribe so I would prefer a more efficient app experience.

### 2/5 — Keep Losing downloaded / Sync’d copies

*2023-10-10*

In recent months I keep losing Downloaded / Sync’d copies of RM on the App, have just received notice a new issue (Nov) is available but can’t download or read it? What’s going on?

### 2/5 — Keeps losing synced issues.

*2022-05-10*

This app is intensely irritating! I’ve starred many issues to sync so that I can read them without an internet connection. Before closing the app, I make sure that sync is complete for each issue, and have had the irritating wobbly sync noise. Why then, when I go back to those issues some time later do I find that it’s no longer synced and I can’t read it offline? What’s the point of syncing an issue if it doesn’t stay synced?

### 2/5 — Decent viewer, issue management abysmal

*2021-11-17, version 12.0.0*

Impossible to figure out when or if a sync queue item will ever complete. The whole sync mechanism is not fit for purpose - utterly dire peice of software.

Reader is very good once a copy is on the ipad. Download is a very simple task - ibooks, bbc iplayer, kindle to mention just a few do it seamlessly.

### 1/5 — If you want to keep your magazine buy it in print.

*2016-10-31*

After subscribing for a year the app was updated and I found it far to slow to download magazines, it took forever. I decided to go back to print.

I wanted to look for an article in the January issue today. Turns out I can't because I only rented the magazine (who rents magazines?) and therefore can only access my previously paid for copies if start a subscription again.

I'll be sticking to printed paper from now on.

### 1/5 — Stick to paper copies

*2016-06-14*

I thought I would try one copy, found that I prefer paper copies. A month later and the copy I purchase had gone. I complain to ITunes and they were not interested and said it was a 3rd party and to contact them. iTunes are happy to take my money. Be warned.

### 1/5 — Poor response, cannot access 2013 magazines

*2016-05-24*

Trying to access and purchase 2013 mags through iTunes to no avail, app does not make magazine available to purchase.

### 3/5 — It's ok

*2016-01-26, version 9.0.1*

It's an ok magazine once you get past all the adverts!! 37 pages of adverts before I get to any content. Really? Put the adverts at the back and it will be 4 stars.

### 1/5 — Con trick

*2016-01-08*

Railway Modeller magazine is great but this app by Exact Editions is a major rip off.

IMPOTANT NOTE : if you buy mag subscription through this app you need to know that when your sub expires if you do not renew you lose access to everything you had paid for before. You get NO access without a current sub. This is the only railway mag that does this so DO NOT USE IT.

### 1/5 — Warning

*2014-11-17*

You cannot unsubscribe from a subscription. I bought one magazine to see if I'd like the online version, and now I get charged every month. No support to unsubscribe via the App Store. Misleading and deceptive. Not happy is an understatement. This is an old favourite but I'd stick with the good old hard cpies

### 2/5 — Railway Modeller

*2014-10-08*

I got last month's as my first ever online magazine for my new iPad and paid for November's a few days ago. Now though the frustrating thing is I've seen the magazine on my local railway station where I always used to buy it, but no sign of it in the Apps Store. Very disappointed.

### 1/5 — Railway Modeller

*2014-02-16, version 7.4.1*

This magazine would not load (iPad 7) enough to see the page to subscribe to it. So would would not have given it even 1 star. Disappointed!

### 1/5 — Big con

*2025-05-11*

I have had a monthly subscription for this magazine for many years and today when I went to read the latest magazine, found that my account was inactive. Tried many things to activate it again, but to no avail. I then went to try and read a previous month’s magazine which I had purchased and downloaded only to find that I could not read it as my subscription was active. This is a big con, I paid for that download and now I cannot read it. This is just like having a subscription for the hard copy magazine and then when you cancel your subscription you have to return all the magazines that have been sent to you. This could be fraud by false representation as I have paid for a magazine which I can no longer read and I cannot find anywhere were it states that I am only paying to loan the magazines whilst my subscription is active. New subscribers be aware of this, it is a big con.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t sync your app store Subscription

*2025-04-02*

If you subscribe via the app store it won’t sync/activate your subscription on the app, despite the fact Continental Modeller works fine.

### 1/5 — Can’t log in

*2023-11-19*

Trying to log in the app tells me it can’t find a subscription even though I can log in perfectly well with the same credentials to the website.

### 1/5 — Railway Modeller app Exact Editions

*2023-02-25*

This app needs an annual subscription. Ut fails to delivery a good experience. Magazine issue states it has synced but move 2 or 3 pages and the pages/ screen stops, waiting minutes to download a few more pages. Extremely poor user experiance. The competitors magazines apps for Hornby and BRM and 200% better, always work faster than the speed of reading and just gives a satisifying reading experience. railway Modeller app Exact Editions need to fix this or PECO subscribers are likely to leave in droves

### 1/5 — Railway Modeller

*2023-01-23*

More than irritating it doesn’t work. I can’t download any issues all I get is a big question mark. No amount of logging in or trying to download will work. So I have to‘soldier on’ with printed versions. Peco isn’t it about time you sorted this out as a quality issue.

### 1/5 — I paid for them but can't read them!

*2022-07-06*

I cancelled my subscription but have editions stretching back many years which I can no longer read.

I PAID FOR THEM, so should be able to read them.

The Theft Act 1960 states: 'A person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it; and “thief” and “steal” shall be construed accordingly'

It seems to me that I have been permanently deprived of my property which has been dishonestly appropriated by Railway Modeller.

Cancelling subscriptions to other magazines (e.g. Practical Photography) paid for via iTunes did not result in me being unable to read the editions I had purchased.

I am disgusted.

### 1/5 — Absolute rubbish

*2022-02-13*

Purchased a single edition through my Apple account - the next month this edition is no longer available to view unless I subscribe!
Daylight robbery!,,,,,,,

### 1/5 — Brilliant magazine but poor app

*2021-01-09*

This is by far the worst app for a magazine or newspaper I’ve used. All my purchases have disappeared and there’s no restore button

### 1/5 — App has stopped working

*2016-12-12*

The app is faulty and when installing shows only a blank loading screen.

### 1/5 — App crashes most of the time

*2016-11-23*

If you want to be staring at a grey page with a white spinning icon then use the app ( even if you try reinstalling). If you want to actually read the magazine, buy a paper copy from a shop.

This update is still broken.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent mag excellent app

*2020-07-14*

You can bookmark your favourites or email them to yourself and even search through the articles for example type in baseboards and seal the issues come up and then you can bookmark them too. Top work

### 5/5 — Worth it’s WEIGHT in gold.

*2019-06-17*

I travel a lot and I can carry years worth of magazine on the iPad instead of just one copy. Downloads don’t take long at all and you can mark your favourite articles. Great app. Well done.

### 5/5 — Excellent way to read the Modeller

*2017-08-03*

This works exceptionally well on my iPad Pro. No blank screens, just full colour access to the available issues. (Can't speak for other devices.)

Here's hoping that they scan the entire back-catalogue, as Model Railroader has done.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2016-07-15*

If you love the magazine you will love the app, you get access to every magazine going back a few years.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2012-09-15, version 6.1*

Excellent magazine just got better with this digital version

### 5/5 — V. Good

*2012-09-12, version 6.1*

Very good, easy to use and portable.
:-)

### 5/5 — Excellent addition to the printed magazine

*2012-09-07*

Really happy to now have access to a digital version of Railway Modeller as well as my trusty printed copy. Easy to use and I can have multiple copies of the magazine on my iPad where ever go. Search function is great.

### 4/5 — Can you stop it making a noise when a new issue appears, please?

*2022-05-10*

This is a very good app. My only complaint is that you can’t stop it making a loud noise when a new issue appears.

### 3/5 — Won’t recognise subscription

*2025-04-06*

Great mag, read it for 40 years. But now it won’t recognise my subscription. Really hoping this gets fixed as there is no real substitute of similar quality

### 3/5 — Back Issues

*2018-06-14*

Would like to have an explanation or ability to see what back issues have been queued and how that queue is making download progress
