### 4/5 — Updates are great

*2026-08-11*

I’ve been using this app for over 6 years now. Every day I record the daily rain and weather conditions. It’s helpful and important for planning my garden and orchard. It’s also a great conversation starter with my elderly father who’s been writing down rainfall charts on paper for decades now.
Not sure how the rolling 12 month graph works though. Doesn’t display any data for me. Be good to get a guide to that new feature.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review.
I will look at adding a bit of a help file in a future update for the Rolling 12 month graph.

Here is a bit of a description.
Each point on the Rolling 12‑Month graph shows the total rain that fell during the previous 12 months before that point. This helps farmers quickly see whether conditions are becoming wetter or drier.

Please get in touch by using the contact support button in settings if you have any questions or suggestions.

Thanks for using RainLog. 😊

### 5/5 — Pretty interesting app

*2026-07-11*

I started using this app years ago. But it took on Moore meeting as time went on and I had all the history of the rain that happened in my yard.
I really like the graphs that it shows of the past years, overlay them with other years and with two year and five year averages.
When they upgraded Fromm version one to version two, it was a little awkward at first, but they resolved being able to import my data from version to version. 😊😊😊

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review and thanks for being a long time user of RainLog.
Please reach out to us if you have any concerns or suggestions. 😊

### 5/5 — Rain log

*2026-06-30, version 1.34*

Very good rain log recordings

### 5/5 — A Truly Great App

*2026-06-25, version 1.34*

For so many of us weather is a standard conversation piece and tired of guessing our rainfall I went looking for and found a great app.
I’ve been using Rainlog since 2021 and it was brilliant, now made better with Rainlog V2
The new Rainlog is an absolute belter. Very Happy with the cost/benefit of the subscription model.
Easy to use and more than enough reporting.
Recommend to all.

### 5/5 — Great UI & solid app

*2026-06-25*

Thanks Wade for converting my files. Love the new app user interface, on what has been a solid app I have been using for 5 years. Look forward using it for may years to come.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your kind review and for supporting RainLog over the past five years! I’m glad we were able to get your data converted and that you’re enjoying the new interface. I really appreciate your support and hope you continue to enjoy RainLog for many years to come!

### 5/5 — Big Step Forward

*2026-06-21*

I’ve been using Rainlog for more than 5 years and progressively entering rainfall data for our home into the app. I’ve always found it to be a very useful and easy to use app.

The new V2 version is a big step. The developer converts old (V1) backups to V2. The appearance of the new version looks really polished and it has remained easy to use.

I’m very happy with the ongoing support for Rainlog.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review and for being a long term user. I really appreciate it.

### 5/5 — Best app for records

*2026-06-20*

Update 2026

I got this app over ten years ago! The layout is good it’s very simple to use. I think it’s the best app for records. This one is the BEST
UPDATE 2026
Still
My favorite rain and weather record app.
I’m very impressed with the customer support too.
Above and beyond to help customers bring years of data into new format and functions.
Can’t beat this APP

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your review.. I really appreciate your support. Thank you for using RainLog. 😊

### 4/5 — First impressions.

*2026-06-17, version 1.33*

So far so good. However using iPhone it seems like you can’t select a backup folder for auto backup.

### 5/5 — V2

*2026-06-16, version 1.32*

Very happy with new app

### 5/5 — Greg fisher

*2026-06-15, version 1.31*

The best rain recording app

### 4/5 — Data sharing

*2026-06-15, version 1.31*

Perhaps you could make it more obvious how to share rainfall data or encourage people to share. For example, three sets of data for NZ is a bit thin. Also please give more detailed instructions of how to upload the data from the old app. Test it by getting a non tech person to follow the instructions without help.

### 5/5 — Recent changes

*2026-06-15*

I’ve been using RainLog for years. The change over to V2 was pretty easy, and it looks great. Developer was more than helpful while changing over.
People complaining about subscriptions need to realise Apps are hard work, and should stop expecting everything for nothing, and it’s only a low price per year

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review, we appreciate it.
We are very glad that your change over experience was ok and appreciate your positive feedback and support.

### 3/5 — Restored lost data

*2026-06-14*

Relieved that they could restore the missing data in the migration to the new app. New screen is small and crowded. Harder to easily see rainfall numbers under the date.
It keeps jumping back to the current month if you try the very annoying swipe right to scroll back through the months and years.
Sometimes when double tapping to enter data it interprets it as sharing and takes you out of the log.
The graph is nice and clear.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the detailed feedback.

I am glad that we could assist you with transitioning your data.

An update has now been released to correct the calendar jumping issue, so month navigation should behave properly after updating.

Appreciate the kind words about the graph.

### 5/5 — Data lost

*2026-06-12*

I just lost all my data - 8 years worth. Opened app to input data and there was no previous data on my screen. A message then popped up (40secs later) to say data will be lost on 06/26 unless a backup is completed. No warning given 1-2 months ago. Extremely disappointed as my data is wiped before I could back it up

**Developer response:** You are putting this review in the wrong place. You are talking about the initial RainLog not this version.

Also the message popup you mention does not exist and never has.

Also your data will not be gone. Get in touch with us please for assistance.

### 5/5 — Easy data transfer and update

*2026-06-12*

I’ve just updated to the new version. I have been using this app for 5+ years and was concerned I’d loose all my data. But I didn’t!!!!
The data transfer and update process was easy to follow and happened smoothly!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Do not use

*2026-06-21*

I had rain log for over 8 years. I lost all my data when I tried to transfer the data to volume 2. Your choice and good luck. Email help was non existent

**Developer response:** ‘Do not use’ is a very misleading title for a one off migration issue from the original RainLog app to RainLog V2.

We cannot find your support request for this.
Please email us. (Or email us again if you have already tried)

We assist everyone who reaches out to support. Please contact us and we will be happy to assist.

### 1/5 — Buy my app, now pay me a subscription.

*2026-06-15*

Original app is great, worth the purchase price that the developer set and at the time was obviously happy with receiving and I was happy paying. I got a ready made spread sheet that looks and provides the basics well.
Now no more support for the app that was purchased. To continue using my data (now being held hostage) that I diligently collected over years, a new app with a yearly subscription at more than 3x times per year of the original purchase price. I wish you good luck, but I won’t be subscribing.

**Developer response:** This review is only about the very modest yearly subscription, not the app itself.

RainLogV2 is a modern rebuild with cloud sync, backup, and ongoing support.

Existing customers from the original RainLog app can choose to move across to RainLogV2 or keep their data from the original app as a csv file.

### 1/5 — Dreadful Update

*2026-06-15, version 1.31*

This is hopeless. Easily the most difficult update of any app I’ve ever used. I’ve lost many years of carefully recorded rain data. You’ve gotta be better than this

### 1/5 — Purchased V1 now a subscription in V2. No thank-you.

*2026-06-13*

Before beginning to enter long term data - beware. I can understand “free” apps moving towards paid, but for a purchased app (version 1), which is essentially a fancy spreadsheet to force a subscription model to original users who have already paid is “shamefully ruthless “. Reputable developers would use a “Grandfathered model”

**Developer response:** RainLog V1 was a one-time purchase app and remains separate from RainLog V2. RainLog V2 is a rebuilt app with ongoing cloud sync, backup, maintenance, support, and development costs that did not exist in the same way in V1.

A small yearly subscription is what allows RainLog V2 to keep operating, supported, and improved. A previous V1 purchase does not cover the ongoing infrastructure and development costs of a new version.

The suggestion that reputable development requires lifetime access to every future version is not realistic. Reputable development also means keeping the app sustainable, maintained, and properly supported.

RainLog V2 is optional, and the pricing has deliberately been kept very modest for the value it provides. A low-cost annual fee for continued development, support, cloud sync, and backup is a practical requirement, not a ruthless act.

### 1/5 — Disaster

*2026-06-12*

What a disaster. I wish I could give no stars. Transfer to V2 instructions almost incomprehensible to older user. I have no confidence I will be able to find a decade or more of records. It looks like you are moving towards charging an annual fee. Don’t count on money from me.

**Developer response:** Sorry the transfer instructions weren’t clear enough for you.

Hundreds of users have now successfully transferred over using the steps provided.

Your old Rain Log records should still be recoverable, and I’m happy to help you.
Please contact us via our website at rainlog.com.au for assistance.

### 1/5 — Frauds

*2026-05-04, version 1.28.1*

I have been using this app for years. An upgrade resulted in my data. The latest insult was to pay a subscription.

### 1/5 — Totally disappointed 😒

*2026-02-14*

February 2026 – I’ve been using Rain Log for around eight years and it has been brilliant. Just upgraded to an iPhone 17 pro and find that the app I was using for years no longer works so I updated to V2 of the app. I have lost all 8+ years of recordings, cannot find where to upload my last backup AND I see I now have to do a yearly subscription after seven entries of rain record recordings. Not happy at all with this progress. 😒

**Developer response:** Thanks for being a long-time RainLog user — I’m really sorry this experience has been frustrating. Your rainfall data should not be lost, and in most cases it can be recovered. Please contact support via our website and we can help you recover your records and get everything working again.

### 1/5 — 10 years data lost

*2026-01-18, version 1.16*

Have just bought a new iPhone 17 and couldn’t download the old version and now have lost 10 years worth of data. Can’t find it in iCloud even though I’ve been saving it to iCloud. AMD I had to pay for the new version. Hopeless.

### 1/5 — Decent app but requires a subscription

*2025-08-13*

Was really liking the app and then it asked me to pay a subscription to continue to use it. Paying a subscription to write 1 number in a day is ridiculous. I could understand a one time fee but i think its a big greedy to ask for money year upon year for something i could achieve with a pen and paper. The convenience just is not worth it

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback — I understand subscriptions aren’t for everyone. RainLog is designed for users who want long-term rainfall records, syncing, backups, and ongoing updates, which the subscription helps support. I really appreciate you giving the app a try.

### 1/5 — Compatibility

*2025-07-09, version 1.13*

What is the point if you cannot import data from the previous version?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-09-03*

Fantastic App. Looks great, works well, and love the Update. Been using it for years and definitely worth the low subscription fee

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review.

### 5/5 — Great rain tracker

*2026-08-23*

I have been using this app since 2015. It is great in many ways, and has recently improved. It is really neat to look back and see your rain history, in data or graph form. The icons even gives an idea of the general weather
Thanks for a Great app !

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review and for using RainLog for so long. I appreciate it. 😊

### 5/5 — Great app and fantastic developer support!

*2026-08-14*

I really like this app for logging and keeping track of my rainfall data—it does the job well.
I previously mentioned that the weekly overview only started on Sunday without an option to change it. The developer replied almost immediately and added the setting to choose Monday as the first day of the week just a few days later!
Outstanding responsiveness and brilliant customer support. Fully deserved 5 stars now!

**Developer response:** Thank you very much for your review. 😊

### 5/5 — Tracking Rainfall

*2026-08-01*

This is a great little APP fairly easy to use and the developer is really helpful if you need help. Lets you compare different time periods so you can see how
One period time compares to another. I would highly recommend if you want to track rainfall you measure.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review.. 😊

### 5/5 — Perfect Rain Tracking App

*2026-07-31*

This app is perfect for tracking rainfall. It tracks it across many years so you can make comparisons and see trends. The only improvement I can imagine, and I hope it happens one day, is if the author would incorporate the tracking of temperature as well.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review and suggestion. 😊

### 5/5 — Rain log

*2026-07-28*

The newest version of Rain log is great. The support when uploading from the old version to the newest was fantastic.
New version is easy to use, the data available makes it easy to compare previous years.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. 😊

### 5/5 — Peter

*2026-07-28*

Like new version
Still getting my head round using it

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review. If you ever need any help or have suggestions please don’t hesitate to get in touch. 😊

### 5/5 — Great upgrade

*2026-07-28*

I've been using the original Rain Log for five years. easy to use and easy to read your records. This iteration brings even more ways to read your own data.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review. 😊

### 5/5 — Great upgrade

*2026-07-19*

I've been using the original Rain Log for five years. easy to use and easy to read your records. This iteration brings even more ways to read your own data.

### 5/5 — Simple, useful and reliable

*2026-07-18*

This my eighth year of using RainLog. I am very satisfied. I would love to see support for using more than one photo. A library as small as five or six images would be much more useful than one. If the month display could show irrigation information (which zone was watered, which trees were watered) as images on the same chart as rainfall, it would greatly increase the amount of useful information that could be got with a single glance. It would turn a good app into an outstanding app. If you added this option for a subscription I would still be interested.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review and suggestions. 😊
