### 2/5 — RainPoint WifiWater Timer

*2026-07-10, version 1.17.1070*

Complicated & No Pairing 9/10 times. Jury is out.

### 2/5 — Made something so simple so complicated

*2026-06-06*

The rainpoint WiFi controller is great but this app is a disaster. Awful user experience making it difficult and complex to set schedules. This should be so simple but they somehow made it so difficult. I’ll give it two stars because it actually somewhat works which I can’t say about the orbit bhyve.

### 1/5 — Absolute Garbage

*2026-06-05, version 1.16.1065*

The app will not stay connected to devices, locks up and many options do not work. Avoid these products and app.

### 1/5 — Rainpoint

*2026-05-31, version 1.16.1065*

The app is such keep telling me my network signal poor not the network this app need more work

### 2/5 — Good … when it starts

*2026-05-30, version 1.16.1065*

It actually does the job but it fails to start 9/10 times just sits on the green launch screen doing nothing

Also the “do not frequently operate the device” warning is very annoying. Sometimes you switch on, realise there’s an issue and switch off to fix the issue and then can’t switch back on due to this warning. We’re adults we can make the decision how often to turn the water off and on

### 1/5 — Unusable even with tech support

*2026-05-11, version 1.16.1065*

Tech insisted I use a Gmail account and that just landed me in password hell. I am debating whether to just use it in manual mode or just trash it and get something else. Fix the dang registration bugs!

### 3/5 — Does not work for all Rainpoints

*2026-05-07*

This app is not compatible with older Rainpoint devices. I tried multiple times using different methods to include an older device to no avail. It connected instantly using the older Tuva app. If the item is not pictured on the add device screen, it will not work with this app

### 1/5 — This Might Be The Worst App Ever

*2026-04-06*

This App is a true P.O.S.

The instructions in the app are as if written by a first semester English student from Mongolia. The process to link the hub and the timer don’t work consistently.

Trying to get the abomination to work with Google Home is frustrating and ultimately fails. I get some kind of undefined network error. Then…. It starts talking about another app entirely. Neither app works.

It’s not the end of the world that the P.O.S. does not work as advertised with Google Home, but it was why I purchased this device. I haven’t hooked up the timer yet, but unless it works 10,000 times better than the WiFi aspects, it is destined for a quick trip to the trash.

Only purchase this RainPoint timer if you want to get frustrated and angry.

### 3/5 — Needs improvement

*2026-01-28*

Can you please have the app push out alerts, for watering, and especially when WATERING DID NOT HAPPEN and the reason why? My plant’s lives depend on it. Thank you. An indicator with battery life of each device would be useful too so I know when I need to change them out before I go on vacation.

### 2/5 — No way to reset the rain amount

*2025-12-21, version 1.15.1056*

No way to reset the rain amount after mounting it. Idk why the developers didn’t think of that. Plus it can take over a week to refreshes the data and give you the updated rainfall.

### 2/5 — Forced

*2025-10-22, version 1.14.1051*

Forced to update to a version worse than the previous. Enhance, but do not alter things for the sake of it. Why change a battery icon??

### 1/5 — Spyware?

*2025-09-19, version 1.13.1049*

Aside from being a confusing and poorly designed app, configuring WiFi for a hub seems to require precise location sharing. No ability to manually configure the WiFi connection.

There is no reason an app I’m using to check soil humidity needs my location.

### 1/5 — Update software remove my device

*2025-08-07, version 1.12.1047*

Stupid software update removed all my devices now I can’t even add them back because there model is gone. Please help!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Non functioning

*2026-07-06, version 1.17.1070*

The HTV157B appears online in the app.
* Tapping the timer on the Home screen opens only a blank screen.
* In the Plan section, tapping Repeat causes the app to crash and close every time.
* I cannot create, edit, or delete watering plans.
* The Home screen still displays a “Next Plan,” but I cannot manage it.

### 1/5 — App don't work

*2026-07-05, version 1.17.1070*

App won't let me log in

### 1/5 — Interesting how the RP app doesn’t support RP devices

*2026-06-29, version 1.17.1070*

Doesn’t support some legacy RainPoint water controllers…you should never remove support for your own branded products - especially when you support other brands…

### 1/5 — Crazy

*2026-06-29, version 1.17.1070*

Does not work with the RainPoint TTP106W - This needs fixing!

### 1/5 — Doesnt Work

*2026-06-28, version 1.17.1070*

Doesnt work - app unhelpful in debugging or instruction - most recent “fixing some bugs” unfortunately was not enough

### 1/5 — Doesn’t open

*2026-06-28, version 1.17.1070*

I’ve just bought a water timer and I haven’t managed to set it up yet as the app gets stuck when I try to register. It times out or won’t load which is clearly a common issue based on other reviews. Rubbish when it’s a key part of your product!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-06-27, version 1.17.1070*

The app doesn’t work, meaning the product is useless. Can’t use the timer without the app and it just won’t open. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still won’t even open up. Quite disappointing that the app control is supposed to be the main attraction and it doesn’t work! Likely will have to return the product

### 1/5 — Fix the start up issue

*2026-06-07, version 1.16.1065*

App is fine and user friendly but having to start the app 5-6 times before it eventually loads is not acceptable for a product that requires an app to operate it

### 1/5 — The worst app

*2026-06-06, version 1.16.1065*

I cannot believe how bad this app is. Totally useless.

### 1/5 — Just doesnt work

*2026-06-06, version 1.16.1065*

Simply doesnt work…not sure if there is more to say!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Just installed - looks good!

*2026-08-01*

I just installed the timer today. It was very easy , about 10 mins including the connection to the faucet.
The app seems to be good enough to do all that I need.
The main reason to Punit me was to control the water consumption. Some tier forgot to turn the sat off when filling the pool or watering the garden - this leads to a huge water bill. This thing does exactly that I need.
Will monitor it for a while…

### 5/5 — Excellent - Had to Leave a Review

*2026-07-06*

I’m not one to leave reviews but I had to on this one due to the two star rating I saw when I went to download it. I don’t know why those people were having issues, but this app works great. Seriously. Adding devices was easy and the app works as intended with zero issues. I can control my sprinklers from anywhere on my phone and it works every time. It’s made my life a whole lot easier.

### 5/5 — Simple setup

*2026-04-05, version 1.16.1065*

Ordered a Rain Point controller for our lawn irrigation, quality appears to be top notch and the accompanying app is simple to set up and has plenty of features. Never heard of Rain Point prior to this but first impressions are great. Hope the longevity proves to be just as good.

### 5/5 — Great app to control RainPoint plant moisture meter

*2026-01-24*

I recently purchased the RainPoint WiFi enabled plant moisture meter and downloaded this app to control it. The app is easy to use and alerts me by email and app notices on my phone when a set alert happens (low battery or moisture level alarm). I’m very satisfied with this app.

### 5/5 — Great app we love it

*2025-05-07*

Works great we bought multiple units

### 4/5 — A decent app.

*2026-06-18*

Overall, RainPoint Home is a decent app. It brings moisture sensors and irrigation controllers together nicely. My only complaint is that the app only allows you to be logged in on a single device. If I open the app on my iPad, after being logged in on my iPhone, I have to login again. This really needs to be fixed.

### 4/5 — Set-Up

*2026-05-27*

So far the set-up of the app and the devices have worked out well. I was a little worried when I saw the ratings.
I was able to manually trigger the valves and setup some schedules for the sprinklers and gardens. I even did a task to delay based on % of precipitation predictions.
I will come back later if needed but right everything is working out as intended.

### 4/5 — Its ok.

*2025-08-07*

This app works fairly well, I use it for pool temperature. The only way to refresh everything is to close the app and open it again, a simple fix, hopefully at some point it will be fixed.

### 4/5 — A decent app

*2025-06-28, version 1.11.1046*

Overall, I really like this app for monitoring the moisture level of tomatoes in my green house. One minor thing I’d like to see is a “Release to Refresh” function in the INFO tab. It’s a pain having to go back to the HOME tab to refresh. Please add this in an upcoming update.

### 4/5 — Huge improvement over HomGar App

*2025-04-17*

I was using the HomGar app and discovered this much improved version (works with the same RainPoint devices). It includes If-Then logic (called Smart Scenes) so you can do things like have a rain sensor trigger a delay in watering schedules, or have it water extra if the temperature is over a certain threshold. It’s a killer feature that makes all the devices finally work together like they should! There is some clunkiness to the app and sometimes things aren’t super intuitive but it has good functionality. The only thing I wish it had was an API so I could pull stats or control it with my Hubitat.
