Italian learner
I downloaded the app to practice my Italian listening skills. I was pleased to find an app similar to BBC Sounds and ARD Sounds with a range of different radio stations. They all play fine on my iPhone. Great. There are a few annoying things however. First, there is no 'go back 10 seconds' button on the lock screen like other apps. Instead, you have to manually open the app. That's hugely annoying. Also, not all programmes are available as podcasts. One show "Radio1 Musica" is very good, but it's not possible to listen back to past episodes. Would be delighted if these improvements could be implemented. Grazie!

Un’ottima compagna
Riesco ad ascoltare i miei programmi preferiti di Radio 3 in diretta o in podcast senza problemi dall’estero :)
Cinque bug da risolvere!
La app e’ ottima ma ci sono alcuni bug molto fastidiosi (ios 18, iphone 14 plus) non risolti nemmeno nell’ultimo update!
1) quando nel palinsesto premo il pulsante per fare download di una trasmissione, spesso partono in automatico, uno dopo l’altro, altri download di programmi non richiesti, con un consumo di banda enorme!
2) durante l’ascolto del podcast scaricato il cursore blu non si muove da solo: diventa quindi impossibile navigarvi agevolmente, ad esempio per saltare una parte e/o ritornarvi in seguito
3) quando pauso l’ascolto di un podcast scaricato, e poi ritorno nella app per proseguire, o anche passo ad altri podcast scaricati, quasi mai viene salvata la corretta posizione a cui ero arrivato ad ascoltarlo, bensì un punto 10-20 minuti prima: sembra che il salvataggio dell’ultima posizione avvenga solo una volta ogni 20 minuti!
4) i download disponibili si fermano all’ultimo orario in cui la app è stata lanciata: occorre forzare la chiusura della app e rilanciarla per poter vedere i nuovi download disponibili.
5) accedendo da un fuso orario a est (es Bangkok: CET + 6) non appare il tasto di il delle ultime 6 ore di programmazione.
Per il resto trovo di altissima qualità certi alcuni contenuti culturali e di approfondimento (primi fra tutti Radio Anch’io e Zapping) e la possibilità di scaricarli e ascoltarli in differita anche dopo vari giorni.

Great app…love it. Always fun to listen….exciting music
last version stops playing when in background
The last version release now stops playing when in background on an iPhone, which makes it less than usable. Very insufficient user experience, unfortunately not unexpected for a Rai app:
having used Rai apps since the original iPhone (initially their apps were designed an implemented as native iOS apps without relying on third-party cross platform APIs), Rai's major releases of their app are continuing to get worse and worse every year.
The last few years of Rai apps for iOS are built using a cross-platform API that provide non-native user interface to iOS, which makes the user experience sub-par at best.
Does Rai not have the resources to hire a single iOS developer capable of writing a native app with standard audio controls?
In the current version of this app, none of the standard iOS shortcuts work for playing audio (e.g. headset controls when listening to a so-called podcast in this app). The CarPlay version likewise doesn't follow iOS User Input standards.
Some of the content is unavailable from any other source, so it is unavoidable to use if one wants to listen to Rai radio content from abroad.
The app however should be re-written from scratch using native APIs such as UIKit or SwiftUI, to have a decent user experience native to iOS.
If any of my app development course students were to turn in such an app for their final project, they would fail the class - not kidding.
