This was not part of the order and I was told there was a trial (no emails or confirmation of such a subscription). I just caught it on my card. Do not trust this company. ### 1/5 — BE AWARE of hidden VERY expensive SUBSCRIPTION *2026-02-03, version 2.2.1* I got the app supposedly “free” with the book purchase, but there’s a hidden subscription fee of $30 that is definitely not worth it. The app is pretty basic and general training advice, defined not worth the price. And their customer service will not issue a refund for the subscription that I never agreed to. According to them it’s on me that I never cancelled the subscription that I was never made aware of in first place. I contacted them on the date of the latest charge and they refused to refund me any of the charges, even the one that had not fully processed. Very poor customer service and an extremely poor way to run your business tricking people into reoccurring charges. If I could give them zero stars I would. And in response to what you said below—I did contact you about this and you did absolutely NOTHING to amend the situation—not even refunding me for the payment that hadn’t even processed yet. As I said—terrible business practices, including complete lack of customer service. ### 1/5 — Not at all helpful *2026-01-19, version 2.2.1* The app is substandard at best. It is difficult to navigate and the information is best described at not informative. I was not able to cancel through the app, which kept locking me out and forcing me to change the password over and over. I had to contact customer service to cancel, and they refused to issue a refund. No errors, the page just hangs for 10 secs or so and then refreshes back to sign in. I paid over $70 for the book, which was no more information than I had already read and watched from the internet. The book purchase offers a free month trial of the app - which is very tempting as the monthly subscription is very expensive. Naturally I took the opportunity, and as many people do - forgot to cancel the trial… despite it being an addition to the purchase of the book. The company charged my card (assuming from the book purchase) without notifying me and refuse to refund it. They also make it incredibly difficult to cancel - probably better not to waste your time in the first place. Experience was highly overpriced and a ploy to gain subscribers by relying on consumer forgetfulness with a terrible, terrible customer experience response. Shame on you - I work hard for my money. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Good ebook, but beware of the recurring subscription *2026-09-04, version 2.3.3* The ebook itself is fine and I was quite happy to pay for it. Unfortunately, what I did not appreciate when purchasing it was that I was also signing up for an ongoing $47.39 monthly charge. There was no reminder email or notification before subsequent monthly payments were taken, and I only discovered the subscription after reviewing my bank transactions. By then, I had been charged three times. I contacted Raising Dog, explained that I was happy to pay for the ebook but had not knowingly intended to continue with a monthly subscription, and asked for the recurring charges to be refunded. They were unwilling to do so. So while I have no issue with the ebook itself, I would strongly caution others against purchasing through this app unless you are very clear about exactly what subscription you are agreeing to and when you will be charged. A disappointing experience that turned a perfectly reasonable ebook purchase into something costing considerably more than I ever intended. ### 1/5 — Scam *2026-07-29, version 2.3.1* The book was basic tricks. But the scam is they automatically sign you up for their app. No where does it state this when you buy the book. I had to get my credit card company involved to sort this out. Yes, in theory they are within the T&Cs that you agree to, what company in this day and age doesn’t let you cancel any other way but to email. This part isn’t clear and after you’ve cancelled on the app you will still be repeatedly charged. Don’t waste your money, the product isn’t worth the hassle. ### 1/5 — Too hard to cancel *2026-05-18, version 2.3.1* Make it ridiculously hard to cancel a subscription. Bought the book, opened the app maybe once (second time to try to cancel a subscription). Should never be this hard. My advice, find someone e local to help you train your dog. Update: I followed the advice of the developers and this issue was resolved quickly. While I do stand by my comments (there should be an opt out solution built into the app to avoid this frustration) I commend the developers on their swift response. ### 1/5 — A SCAM Hidden subscriptions *2026-04-28, version 2.2.1* There’s is a number of hidden subscriptions not through the App Store and comes out your bank account. I bought a book and I thought the app came with it, but there is a subscription that isn’t very well discussed. This app also seems to be made of AI slop as the app itself isn’t very well structured functional. I’ve had a notification issue where I get 50 to 60 notifications twice a day without an ability to turn it off. You can remove alarms, but the settings doesn’t save so if you configure an alarm at the beginning, you’re stuck with it forever. I was working with her support and they kept closing the ticket over and over again and all the support that they gave me through my many questions never worked. I thought this is a cool and cute idea but the business practices of this are shady and the app that they’re charging you $31 for barely even works. I would avoid this app and this book and this company if you can they’re not very good. ### 1/5 — Scams you into subscriptions *2026-02-10, version 2.2.1* $30 a month is outrageous. They use dark pattern design to get you to sign up to a subscription. Despite ALL of these reviews they continue to deceive people and have no ethical boundaries and instead focus on greed. They need better policies in place to remind you of subscription renewal and ability to cancel on your own. They will claim they have these in place and take no ownership of fault.
