### 3/5 — Has potential

*2026-08-15*

I wish you could edit the daily questions or add ones that are relevant

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. The questions are deliberately fixed, they're the factors of the HHHHHMM Scale, a veterinary framework that's been the most widely used quality-of-life assessment in palliative care for twenty years. We chose to keep them exact rather than let users customize them, because the value of the scale is that you and your vet are looking at the same numbers.

If you want the reasoning behind each question, I wrote a longer post about it: https://ralph.pet/blog/hhhhhmm-scale-explained

Would love to hear what you're hoping to track. Sometimes that points to a feature we should add rather than change this one.

### 3/5 — Lost my 1st week of data but great since then

*2026-07-04*

I had over a week of ratings and notes and then when I went in, it asked me to start a new pet and didn’t have the data there that I had previously entered. The developer got in touch with me and had a bunch of troubleshooting suggestions but I decided to just start from scratch and save my data via share/export daily going forward. Since then (months ago), I haven’t had any problems and find the app incredibly useful.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the 'coffee' and for reaching out. I am so incredibly sorry to hear about the data loss, especially during such a difficult and important time with your dog.

Since the app is offline-only and hasn't had an update in months, this is very unusual and hasn't been reported by others. It suggests an iOS system glitch rather than a bug in the app itself. I sent you an email yesterday with some steps that might help.

Please check your inbox—I’d love to help you try to recover your data. My thoughts are with you and your pup.

### 5/5 — Thank you

*2026-04-08*

Thank you for creating this app. I’m using it to track my 14 year old cat’s quality of life and it’s been very helpful.

### 5/5 — Helped me care for my best friend

*2026-03-02*

I used the Ralph app consistently for over 7 months to track my 16+ year old best friend's health and quality of life. I'd tried other QoL tracking methods in the past and, while they were more detailed, they were so much harder to maintain. Ralph helped me see when my boy was having difficulty, and when he was rebounding. Ultimately, he suffered an unexpected sudden and severe health crisis so I no longer had to decide "When" - but knowing that my tracking through Ralph showed that his quality of life was likely not going to get a lot better, it was easier to know that I didn't want to subject him to further interventions.

Thanks for this app. I'll be recommending it to others.

**Developer response:** I am incredibly sorry for the loss of your sweet boy. Losing a companion of 16 years is heartbreaking.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It really means a lot to hear that Ralph helped give you some peace of mind during those tough moments. That is exactly why we built it.
I also want to thank you for helping me improve the app and make it better for everyone.

Wishing you all the best while you heal.

### 5/5 — Lovely App

*2026-02-11*

Does just what we need it to do for tracking for Buckley, our 12 year old Boston Terrier. One question - I am not able to save my daily entry. When I try to input data for a previous day, the submit button isn’t active. I know it’s me - what am I doing wrong?? Many thanks!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your kind words and also for reaching out to me regarding the issue you encountered, I'm glad we could resolve it together.

I wish you all the best!

### 5/5 — Game changer for CCD pup

*2025-12-07*

We’ve been using this for a couple months to better understand our dog with canine cognitive dysfunction (CCD, aka doggy dementia). It’s been an absolute game changer by helping to balance our emotions and assumptions with objective data. The trends and tips are helpful too. I’ve even started tracking for our younger dogs. Thank you for creating this app. It helps so much to have new insight into the wellbeing of our precious pups.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for sharing this! It means a lot to me to hear that the app is helping you care for your dog with CCD. Balancing emotions with objective data during challenging times is exactly what I hoped to support.

Your feedback really motivates me to keep improving the app. Wishing you and your precious dogs all the best!

### 5/5 — Great tool to help track my older dog.

*2025-04-05*

My vet recommended we start a journal for my older dog to keep track of his good and bad days. I found this app. I love the scale at the top super easy to read. I also love the note section. I can’t thank you enough for the app!

For future updates maybe consider: to have some more details in the sliding scale by making it broader maybe 1-10. I feel like my dog is in between two descriptions on a few. Or maybe a place where we could add our own number of overall how they are doing. 😊

**Developer response:** Thank you for your kind review! I'm happy to hear that my app is helping you track your senior dog's journey.

I appreciate your suggestions about the rating scale. Your point about wanting more granularity makes perfect sense - every pet parent knows those "in-between" days! The current 5-point scale was indeed a conscious decision to keep daily tracking simple and sustainable, with the philosophy that 0=bad, 3=manageable, and 5=great, with steps in between for nuance.

That said, your feedback about wanting more precision is valuable. I'll explore some options in the next update.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with my app. Give your senior pup an extra hug from me! 🐾

### 2/5 — Needs improvement

*2024-08-02*

Just started using the app and here are a few early impressions:

The water intake scale needs to be somehow modified so that one can indicate abnormal increase in water intake, as well as decrease.

The user should be able to enter information for days previous to the day the app was downloaded. I fully remember what yesterday was like.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback on the app. I'm continuously working on improving or adding useful features.

Regarding tracking abnormal water intake changes, I would recommend using the notes feature, which are included in the PDF export.

It is actually possible to enter data for previous days either by using the calendar view or clicking the chart dots.

### 5/5 — Challenging times are easier with Ralph

*2024-07-30*

My 10 year old boy was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma two months ago, and we’re taking it day by day with lots of ups and downs. I want to make sure I’m making the best decisions for him and not prolonging suffering, and this app really helps add clarity as to whether a day is truly “good” or “bad” as measured by the veterinary quality of life scale.

I’d love to see a visual indicator with an aggregate “score” over time (e.g, in the past 7/30/etc. days, pup’s QOL score is X [green/yellow/red face]).

Thank you so much for helping provide clarity at a time when owners might need help making decisions for their sick loved ones.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your touching review and sharing your journey with your boy.

I appreciate your suggestion about adding an aggregate score indicator and will explore ways to implement this feature.

### 5/5 — Great tool to track trends for our old pooches

*2024-05-20*

We want our senior dogs to live forever but instead we treasure every moment, because tomorrow isn’t promised for any of us.

It’s so important to focus on dogs’ needs with respect to whether or not they’re in pain and able to maintain quality of life.

I’ll be honest—at this point I like to do a sort of weekly “check in” vs daily, in order to provide data so that we can look back and view trends as we progress to the next stages.

I love that we can add note and photos about activity and what we’ve been up to. App dev is very receptive to input.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review and for sharing your experience - your feedback about check-in frequency is particularly helpful. I'll work on adding flexibility for daily or weekly check-ins in a future update to better accommodate different monitoring preferences.
