## What is RanchOS?

RanchOS – Livestock & Ranch Management

RanchOS is the operating system for modern ranching — an all-in-one ranch management platform designed to replace notebooks, sticky notes, and scattered spreadsheets with a single powerful mobile app.

Built on a working ranch in Southern Colorado, RanchOS helps ranchers manage livestock, cattle operations, hay production, equipment, pastures, and daily ranch tasks from anywhere — even when you’re offline in the pasture.

Whether you’re tracking calving, recording treatments at the chute, moving cattle between pastures, or managing livestock across your ranch, RanchOS keeps everything organized in one place so you can spend less time on paperwork and more time running your ranch.

RanchOS is designed for real ranch work and supports cattle operations as well as mixed livestock ranches.

Key Features

Livestock & Herd Tracking
Track cattle and other livestock including goats, sheep, pigs, horses, bison, deer, and elk. Maintain complete animal records including births, breeding history, treatments, weights, pregnancy checks, and full livestock history.

Cattle Record Keeping
Easily record calving events, treatments, vaccinations, pregnancy checks, and cattle movements so your herd records stay organized and accessible.

Herd Management
Manage your herd with detailed livestock records, pasture movements, breeding history, and treatment logs so you always know what’s happening across your ranch.

Ranch Task Management
Create and assign ranch tasks so everyone knows what work needs to be done and when — from feeding and fencing to health checks and pasture moves.

Pasture & Land Tracking
Record pasture movements and track where animals are located across your ranch. Keep a history of where livestock have been grazed.

Hay & Equipment Tracking
Track hay production, equipment usage, and operational records across your ranch.

Voice Logging
Record ranch events quickly using voice commands while working cattle, feeding livestock, or out in the pasture.

Offline First
RanchOS works even without cell service. Record livestock events and ranch activities in the field and automatically sync when you reconnect.

Reports & Insights
Generate reports and review herd data to better understand what’s happening across your ranch and make more informed decisions.

Built for Real Ranch Work
Designed and developed on a working ranch to handle real-world cattle and livestock operations.

RanchOS works for cow-calf operations, mixed livestock ranches, hobby farms, and large commercial herds.

Stop juggling notebooks and spreadsheets. Run your ranch with RanchOS.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.121 — 2026-08-25

A maintenance release, mostly about getting recorded work off the device and
onto the server sooner.

Field work syncs sooner
Records you enter during a field session — bales especially — no longer wait
behind the location data the app collects while you work. A bale recorded
mid-session could previously sit unsent for a long time, which looked like the
button had not worked.

Less data used in the field
Position is now recorded on a steady cadence rather than continuously, which
cuts mobile data use during a session substantially without changing the field
coverage the app records.

Updates install when you open the app
Previously an update downloaded on one launch and only took effect on the next,
so a change could appear to be missing.

### 1.0.119 — 2026-08-15

This release is mostly maintenance, with a focus on working properly without a signal.

WORKS OFFLINE
Tasks, breeding seasons, pasture conditions, and bales and windrows on the ranch map now load from the device instead of needing a connection. If you open the app in a pasture, they're there.

FIXES
• Pasture conditions and in-field bales weren't appearing — both now load correctly
• Records deleted before they synced could reappear later. They now stay deleted
• Purchases recorded offline now post on the date you entered, not the date they synced

FUEL
You no longer need bookkeeping enabled to record a fuel delivery. Receiving fuel is an inventory task — the quantity goes into your tank either way, and the cost field is optional when bookkeeping is off.

HAY PURCHASES
Crop type is now a dropdown instead of a wrapping list of buttons, and the date field has a calendar picker with a number keypad.

### 1.0.118 — 2026-08-06

This one is about your work not disappearing.

**Offline & syncing**
- Fixed the big one: a full day of baling could queue up and never send. After three failed tries on weak signal, records went quiet — still on your phone, but invisible and unable to sync no matter how good the signal got later. They keep trying now, and anything genuinely stuck shows up instead of hiding.
- Dropping a bale no longer waits on the network. On one bar it could freeze for up to 30 seconds before saving. It saves instantly now and sends in the background.
- Refreshing data can no longer wipe out work you haven't synced yet.
- Weights, health events, notes, treatments and material usage now reconcile with the server instead of being cleared or duplicated.
- A save that fails says so, instead of vanishing.
- Hauling no longer empties your trailer just because the server hasn't caught up.
- First-time setup gets the time it needs on a slow connection.

**Your units, everywhere**
- Weights, lengths, areas, speeds and temperatures follow your ranch's setting on every screen you type into — not just on the labels. Type 550 kg and 550 kg is what gets recorded.
- Animal weight is right across every path that can set it, including voice and live updates from other users.
- Fuel shows the fuel type's own unit instead of assuming gallons.
- Rake offsets, cutting width and head size read in your units.
- Red speaks your units out loud too.

**Calendar**
- Day view is an hourly time grid, and so is Week on larger screens.
- Tap an empty slot to create an event at that time.
- Events have a real edit form and a searchable type list.
- End times on timed events, and they sync to your phone's calendar as a block.
- Your device calendar keeps itself in sync when you open the app.

**Herd health**
- CWD testing on mobile, offline-first, showing up only for the species that need it.

**Photos**
- Animal photos stop eating storage, capture at the size that's actually kept, and tell you when something's missing instead of quietly loading the wrong file.

Plus quieter work throughout: faster live herd updates, better conflict handling when two people edit the same thing, and diagnostics so the next problem takes an afternoon to find instead of a day.

### 1.0.117 — 2026-07-24

The Ranch Calendar is here. Everything happening on your ranch, on one timeline:
• Day, Week, and Month views — swipe to move between them
• Tasks (including finished ones), expected calvings, animals actually born, vaccination & medication withdrawal dates, and grazing rotations
• Breeding built in: expected heat windows, preg-check-due dates, and pre-calving dry-off & close-up reminders, figured from your own animals
• Tap an event to jump to the animal or task behind it
• Local weather forecast right on your days
• Show/hide any kind of event (and the weather) — your choices stick
• Sync into your phone's calendar, and pick which account

Also: a new FAMACHA tab (record scores at the chute, offline); weather-screen upgrades (rainfall card, operational tabs, tap-a-day detail); smarter, species-aware breeding & offline fatal-substance/contraindication guardrails; faster right-sized livestock photos; a fresh 2026 look; and self-healing offline reliability.

Works offline throughout — it opens in the barn with no signal.

### 1.0.115 — 2026-07-16

This release is mostly bug fixes and reliability improvements. Highlights:

• More reliable windrow tracking while baling — works with the screen off and no longer splits rows by mistake
• Cleaner bale hauling — no duplicate bales, no "Unknown Type," and an End Session button
• Hauling equipment picker only lists haul-ready, in-service gear
• Weather radar opens fullscreen and plays
• Ranch map shows the right animal icons again — cattle, sheep, goats, deer & elk, no more paw prints
• Various offline sync and stability fixes
