RandoMeister lets you randomly pick student names (or Dolch sight words or math facts or text from really any kind of list you construct) using several different methods. It also lets you create random (but editable) groups based on either the number of groups you want or the number of students you want in each group. You may even set up restrictions (behind the scenes) if there are students that you do not want ending up together in the same group. You may also save these groups for reuse and export them. Rotate to landscape in order to display names at their largest size. Create multiple classes. Get notified when everyone in your class has been drawn or view the class list to see pick-statistics for each student. Support is fantastic and it works great with iOS8. Maybe the other users that have had problems should contact the developer. I know he responds quickly, and has in no way left the country. He is just down the hall from me teaching 3rd grade :) It has saved me countless times when I needed to group my students quickly. Period *2014-11-22* Every other time I opened the app it automatically closed. When I randomized the names, only one name ever showed up until I went back to look at the entire list, then it showed that all students had been picked and how many times but the names never changed on the selector until I went back to it. **Developer response:** I'm sorry that RandoMeister didn't work properly for you. Sometimes when I open the app it flashes a black screen before opening and when that happens the app is unresponsive (aside from a workaround I've discovered) Other times I open the app and it will flash, but not a black screen. No more having to pull sticks to call on a student. This does the same thing, only much more fun...and no more sticks to fall on the floor or have to put back in the can. Used this for assigning duties in cafeteria, cabin cleaning, even for the car ride home. Our girls are 7th grade and will try to 'negotiate' for everything.
