## What is Raven?

Hidden messages in plain sight.

Raven is a cryptographic tool that seals your secrets on a public blockchain, not inside your text. Write something private, seal it for one specific person, and Raven hands you back a normal-looking sentence — a caption, a comment, a text — that quietly signals a message is waiting. Post it anywhere. To everyone else, it's just a post. To the person with the right key, it's a signal.

WHY RAVEN IS DIFFERENT
Most private tools protect what you say. But anyone watching can still see THAT you're talking — and who you talk to, when, and how often becomes a kind of message in itself. Raven doesn't show up on that map. There's no traffic between you and your recipient at all — just a public post that happens to mean something to one person.

NO ACCOUNTS, NOTHING TO LEAK
- No signup, no email, no phone number, no name.
- Your keys are generated on your device and live in the iOS Keychain, behind Face ID or your passcode.
- Your secrets are sealed on your device with end-to-end encryption before anything touches a network.
- No analytics, no tracking, no ads. We couldn't read your ravens if we wanted to — there's no place in the system where that information exists.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Add the key of the person you want to reach — scan their QR code or paste their key.
2. Write your secret. Raven seals it on-chain and gives you an ordinary carrier sentence.
3. Post or send the carrier anywhere you already talk.
4. They scan it in Raven and the secret unseals on their device — where only they can see it.

A NOTE ON HONESTY, BECAUSE IT'S EARLY
Raven is young and improving fast. Ravens are ephemeral by design — the retrievable copy is cleared after a limited window, so Raven is not an archive and makes no durability promises. Keep your own copy of anything you need to keep. And there is no password recovery: your keys exist only on your device, so export a backup. If you lose both, no one — including us — can recover them.

ZERO TOLERANCE
Raven is for lawful communication between consenting people. Our Terms state zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. You can block any key, dismiss any raven, and report abuse from inside the app — reports go to a monitored inbox and we act within 24 hours.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-04

Raven now runs on its permanent network. Keys created before this update no longer work — the app shows a one-time notice; delete old keys and trade new ones with your contacts. Also new: a built-in demo raven you can try without a second device, a reworked first-run experience, share-to-Raven from the share sheet, clearer key naming throughout, and more reliable scanning.

### 1.0 — 2026-06-24

No release notes.
