## Most critical reviews (7 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App has sync issues

*2026-10-16*

Developers email is not set up correctly.

### 2/5 — Very slow

*2026-10-11*

I want to like Raven. I really do. The MacOS app’s UI is slow and unresponsive to the point I cannot use the app. I’ll keep it around, and hopefully the dev will address the UI issue.

**Developer response:** Hello, I'm very sorry and working actively to fix this. I noticed that and have made the change but still waiting for Apple to review and approve the update.

### 2/5 — Mac and iPhone are different, no support

*2026-07-27*

On Mac, notes are available as files in a folder of your choosing; on iOS however, your notes are not stored in the Files app in an accessible way. This unfortunately defeated the scenario I imagined, where I could have one matching folder of notes available on my devices. The only way to access the Markdown files on iOS is to export the note and “Save to Files.”

Normally this would be a minor issue which I would not use to give a critical review, my first instinct is to contact the developer. However, I found that the developer’s support email bounced back twice. This lack of support availability leaves me with no other way to contact them than this review.

**Developer response:** Hello, that make so much sense and I've taken this feedback to really tighten the link between iOS and macOS to re-use iCloud Drive so that it works this way. That was a major change but it was truly worth it.

### 4/5 — Really want to like this app… but -

*2026-05-11*

Update: Really impressed by the responsiveness of the dev. They reached out to me almost immediately following my review to outline their intentions as far as the roadmap goes. Very excited to see how it evolves. I’ll likely update this review again following releases!

The promise is convincing and the potential is there, I know it’s new and development is handled by a single person, but current state is not ready for production yet. I was hoping to save my files to a custom location, but it’s only the default iCloud location. Journaling (daily notes) requires sync to be enabled which makes using this as a capture layer impossible, no dark mode, and every time I try to create a journal page it crashes and throws conflict warnings. Additionally the formatting for markdown should function without issue however the syntax is not recognized and callouts cannot be colored as the settings imply. Right now it’s just missing some base level necessities and needs a strong functional testing before I try this again. I will give it a couple of weeks before I seek a refund from Apple to give the dev the chance for subsequent updates.

**Developer response:** Hello, thank you so much for this feedback. Working hard on addressing all those, and appreciate your patience. I've push another update that address some of those issues, but will continue in the next couple days to fully address all your concerns. Don't hesitate to email me at raven@matoya.co

### 5/5 — Surprised It’s This Good.

*2026-10-05*

I’ve truthfully tried and gone through so many notes, planners, outliners, to-do/notebook blends and so forth. The closest I got to content was with Bear… Until I saw this.

I’ll be honest the £12 price tag looks off putting but just using the app and writing just that first note immediately has you realising this £12 is worth every penny especially when most note apps with similar features are near £9.99 per month.

### 5/5 — Beautiful hidden gem notes app with very active dev.

*2026-09-21*

I really love how beautiful the US is, how active the dev is with working on improvements, and how it all works so smoothly. This is exactly what I wanted for a notes app that could replace Obsidian on mobile for me as I am not too heavy use on note apps.

I really love how dedicated the developer is. I check updates for my apps every day, and I will literally see Raven multiple times in a week with improvements. This is the most active and involved developer I have ever seen on here. And the apps that are so nice and amazing always have the least amount of spotlight but the most dedicated developers. I hope App Store can give you the love and attention you deserve, but that is one of the hardest things about being a indie dev on App Store.

I do, however, seem to have trouble contacting the dev through the app with support section. I have tried a few times. Hopefully they will see this and that can be fixed.

Thank you again for the beautiful notes app! 🐦‍⬛

**Developer response:** Hello, that made my day! I’ve been working hard on more update. I’d love to hear more from you and feel free to reach out at thomas@matoya.co while I fix this support not working. 🐦‍⬛
