### 2/5 — Could Be Better!

*2026-08-16*

This phone has soo much potential. My mother has Alzheimer’s and gets taken advantage of by the people around her. It would be nice to be able to see text messaging logs as well, since I know people are texting her for money but she deletes them. The caregiver should be able to delete it on the app. Another suggestion for the developers would be to have a do not disturb feature like iPhones.

### 2/5 — No Other Languages???

*2026-06-27, version 8.3.3*

I just got RAZ phone for my dad. I read that it’s possible to place calls, video calls, text. I saw somewhere about possibility of changing a language into Russian.

I’ll give 2 stars for that it’s possible to place a call, and it’s supposed to stop 911 calls when it should not be placed. I have not signed for that so far and don’t know how it works.

However, the speaker was not loud enough for my parents to hear me well when I test called them, even for my mom with normal hearing it was not loud enough. They use phones on speaker normally, not just by the ear.

It’s impossible to text in any other language! Any! as the phone ONLY accepts English (I spoke with customer service about it).

I don’t think my dad can use English keyboard to text Russian words. But even when I tried to use English keyboard sounding Russian words, the phone kept changing words into something else (without even asking if I wanted to change). And it doesn’t allow me to type my word again because it keeps changing my word into “correct” English word over and over, and over…

I tried to speak in Russian to see if the phone would type anything close to what I said, but it would only type something else in English (not even close sounding of what I said). There’s absolutely no way to send a text in Russian or send a short voicemail in messages.

Now I also found out that my dad CANNOT place video calls. It’s not an option (to allow or not). Only caregivers can place a call to him. I was told that contacts as well but haven’t tried that.

I could live without him placing the video calls, for me to call him instead. But I really think there should be different languages as it used to be an option, and normally android phones can have different languages.

### 4/5 — Great option for senior with memory issues

*2025-06-12*

My father in law, who lives alone, was having issues with using the cell phone and complexity of it became too much. This allows him to make and receive calls. We utilize all of the features. The ability to set reminders, to remind him to charge phone and to alert us when he hasn’t received calls has been so helpful. Also the auto speaker has helped him to hear us. The addition of texting is is essential as many services use text for authentication. I hope that is added soon.

### 4/5 — Great option for visually handicapped

*2025-06-09*

My 104 year old mother was legally blind and struggled to use even a special phone. And local land line service was terrible. RAZ Mobility allowed me to switch to more reliable cell service at an inexpensive rate, and control her contacts and incoming calls. She had just enough peripheral vision to call me when nessessary. Good product for special needs!

### 2/5 — Bad update

*2025-05-26*

This phone worked great until the most recent update. Now it will randomly start letting calls come in from phone numbers that are not on the contact list. Also, we pay for the extra “emergency monitoring service” so she can’t call 911 but apparently that stopped working randomly also…..the memory care facility did not appreciate the cops showing up. Ugh! It should definitely be an option to not have an emergency/911 button when they live in a facility.

### 2/5 — Video call

*2025-04-18, version 8.0.2*

Video call always says busy and I’m holding both phones. It’s the main thing my dad requests is to be able to video call. I’ve turned off his phone and turned it back on like customers service said. Please fix this

### 4/5 — Wonderful app, Bad Update

*2025-04-14*

This app is a lifesaver! It takes a lot of the wood out of your day to day management of a loved one with dementia.
However, the app just updated to a new format. The old format easily refreshed and “showed latest data”.
The new version recently updated will not “update latest data” without numerous attempts. You may need to close and open the app numerous times to obtain the update.
Please fix this bug! Other than this problem with the new format ( which is huge) this app is wonderful

### 3/5 — Some good and bad things

*2025-02-28*

I just got this phone for my mom. The first problem I see is that the phone is always on and doesn’t black out (Verizon). This really drains the battery quickly. I don’t see why this can’t be a raz app option.

The second thing I noticed is that the ring tone volume is good, but the phone volume and speaker phone volume are low. My mom’s old flip phone was twice as loud.

It should be a given that older people start to lose their hearing. Again, I have no options to control the volume and this should be something added to the app.

### 2/5 — Great idea but terrible execution.

*2025-01-02, version 6.1.8 (28)*

This is not being built by an experienced technology professional. Quirky, buggy, clunky. I hope they get it straightened out as the concept would be wonderful for helping my mother suffering from dementia.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2024-07-07*

The simplicity of the phone is great, but as others have said, the battery life is AWFUL. The worst part if that there is an emergency button on the screen, which is absolutely ridiculous, as mostly people with dementia aren’t going to remember not to press it and don’t even have the wherewithal do so, even if they needed help. Raz offers an emergency service to intercept the unnecessary calls, which we found quickly that we needed to purchase so firetrucks and ambulances wouldn’t be dispatched every time my father inadvertently presses this (ALL THE TIME). Now, they are raising the price on the service due to overuse and if the user goes over 20 calls a month (my dad can do that in less than a week), they actually dispatch 911 services)!!! How crazy. I have asked if they can have an app update that would enable the emergency button be an optional feature (caregiver can determine if user needs access) and they are hopefully coming up with a solution this month (July of 24). If not, this phone will not work for us. In my opinion, this is such a major design flaw and makes this phone unusable for my dad. I’ll report back. if these two things could be addressed, I could definitely give them four stars—maybe five!

### 2/5 — Great when it works

*2024-06-12, version 5.3.0*

This is exactly what we need for my father-in-law. Unfortunately, the app only works about half the time. It either can’t connect to the server and shows nothing or it connects but can’t change anything on the phone. Increase the reliability and I’d give it five stars.

### 3/5 — Great idea but average of operations

*2024-05-19, version 5.3.0*

Like to see the app and phone have updates to enhance it’s features including better responsiveness to touch and charge

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Buyer beware!

*2026-07-14, version 8.3.3*

You MUST buy their phone to use this app. It all sounds great until you dig a little deeper

You MUST have a wireless plan or the phone and the app will not work. Period! If you want to use your phone as just a wifi device, RAZ Mobililty doesn’t allow it.

Speaking of restrictions, you should know that RAZ Mobility serves as your IT administrator and controls the phone completely. That may be intentional for the memory-challenged user, but it also prevents the caregiver from having control of the phone except on RAZ Mobility’s terms. All parties are at the mercy of RAZ Mobility. They are your overlord. They can erase all data on the phone any time they want. Not the caregiver. RAZ Mobility. RAZ has full control of it, just like an IT administrator at your employer. Except they are not your employer. Unlike your employer, you have to pay THEM!

The memory phone I ordered is a rebranded Motorola Moto G Play 2024 with 64 GB of built in storage. RAZ currently charges you $369 plus $15 shipping plus sales tax. You can buy unaltered version of this same phone online right now from the giant online retailer based in Seattle for less than half that price. And get free shipping.

Want to research the phone’s features on RAZ Mobility’s website to truly understand how their memory phone differs from a standard Android phone? Be prepared to spend a lot of time and run into vague and unclear explanations. They seem to NOT want you to learn too much before purchasing the phone because the value proposition is much less attractive once you spend more than 15 minutes with their product and caregiver app.

So you better be absolutely certain you want to use their product before making a purchase. They are not very transparent, are happy to charge a big fee for everything they do, and sell you outdated technology at very big markups. If you want a refund, they’re glad to charge you a $50-$75 restocking fee and you pay return shipping.

There are many companies that are more customer friendly than RAZ Mobility. I strongly advise you to look elsewhere.

### 1/5 — App Rarely Works

*2026-02-18, version 8.3.1*

The app works half the time, maybe less. Just never loads anything

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-02-17, version 8.3.1*

I hope that the phone works better than this app because this is ridiculous. It just keeps freezing up when I try to save anything. How am I supposed to set up my mom's phone?? I wish I had read these reviews before I wasted money on this phone.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-02-13, version 8.3.1*

This app is Terrible. How disappointing. The phone works ok, (wish we could disconnect the 911 function)
But this App. Holy cow. It “glitches” almost Every Day. It will say the phone is “off” and we can’t access any other information. The help desk says the same things- and is always saying “we are working on that issue”

### 1/5 — Do NOT recommend

*2025-09-13, version 8.2.0*

Awful app. Awful customer service

### 1/5 — After update the app is stuck loading the terms and conditions

*2025-06-13, version 8.1.0*

App completely useless after update. Cannot go past the terms and conditions page. Is this serious? For people that want to keep in touch with loved ones and we cannot even access your app. Completely unacceptable.

### 1/5 — Setup Functions

*2024-11-25, version 5.3.1*

The setup function when accessed cause the app to shut down. Can't add photos to Contacts or set reminders etc. Help...

### 1/5 — Raz

*2024-09-21, version 5.3.1*

The camera doesn’t want to work I deleted the app and reinstalled it it still not working

### 1/5 — More Tab Broken

*2024-04-10, version 5.3.0*

First time user. App has potential, but current version crashes when the More button is selected. One star since some of the most useful-to-me features are controlled from the More screen - devaluing the solution. Hoping for a quick fix!

### 1/5 — DONT waste your money.

*2024-04-04, version 5.2.5*

Have had the phone for about 1.5 months using Mint Mobile . It will continually shut off for no reason, and they have no way of re-setting it through their Customer Service . It’s junk

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Outstanding Support & Great Product

*2026-08-20*

Purchased for MIL dealing with cognitive decline, hearing loss, and macular degeneration. The phone is easy for her to operate and easy for me to customize/monitor. We haven’t experienced battery life issues mentioned by other reviews. The customer support, both online chat and phone, have been fantastic. Setting this up was super easy. Would love to have an option to remove both the keypad & emergency services button in the future - as this is a sticking point for her as she gets stuck on the keypad accidentally and I can’t remove emergency without activating keypad but that’s my only complaint.

### 5/5 — Hugely helpful for my mom

*2026-03-23*

My mom is in nursing care and no longer remembers how to use a regular phone. However, she wants to talk to family anytime of the day. This phone and app have given her an easy way to do that. She only talks for a minute or two, but she’s much happier because of it 🤗

Pros:

- All she needs to do is tap on a picture to call someone.

- Video calls are possible (contrary to what the older, outdated reviews say)

- We can monitor the phone and adjust settings remotely.

Cons:

- The phone has to be charged everyday. You can watch the battery level decline via the app, but you can’t do anything to help conserve energy.

- Quiet times can’t be set for an individual contact. I live 2 time zones away from the rest of the family. Their quiet times doesn’t work for me 🫤

### 5/5 — Finally! Not sure what people are complaining about

*2026-03-08*

my father continually turned phone off or muted. it was a hassle driving over to fix phone. I control it remotely and have not had any problems! i can monitor and control everything. He is a stroke victim and he can use phone now. Some people like to complain. this is the best thing out there!! Customer support has been great helping port number ( took 15 minutes to move his lively/ jitterbug over) painless!!! now if they could create app for his tv!!😆

### 5/5 — Bringing families together

*2025-02-07*

My mom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease dementia about three years ago and she lost her ability to use her iPhone. This phone has been a lifesaver for keeping in touch my mom while she was in a nursing home out of state. The app and phone functionality are not perfect but they both continue to improve. Being able to check the battery levels has been extremely helpful. Having the phone auto answer on speaker phone have helped my mom use her phone when she was no longer able to use her hands. This phone truly changed our lives and provided us with direct communication across states that would have otherwise been impossible. I look forward to seeing what further improvements and features are on the roadmap.

### 5/5 — Phone and Care App is doing everything I need it to.

*2024-12-05*

Having a family member recovering from brain surgery and impacted memory recall, I needed a way to not just keep in touch but for my parent to not feel isolated and forgotten. I purchased the regular AZ Phone and installed/configured the AZ Caregiver on my phone. Setup was easy for me at least and only two contacts are needed on it. My Dad was absolutely thrilled as he had asked for a phone so he could call and now I have one in his hands that he cannot corrupt thru his confusion that he goes thru and starts clicking and playing with things. I have been sharing this product info with the Memory Care facility directors because this is a life changer for millions of families who have loved ones with Dementia or Brain Surgery recovery who are in long term care facilities.

### 5/5 — Great way to connect with my mom

*2024-05-25*

It is a very simple phone for my Mom who has memory issues . I’ve set it up to answer automatically since my mom has difficultly figuring out how to answer it. The video calling feature through the RAZ app is great. I highly recommend the phone - their customer service is awesome.

### 5/5 — Working Awesome For Us!

*2023-06-07*

Just bought this phone for our Dad and downloaded the app (late May 2023). The Raz team must be working hard at fixing the bugs mentioned in earlier reviews because all features work as advertised. We use AT&T with an unlimited data plan and 3 caregivers can track Dad’s location, see call history, adjust settings and make video calls. The only thing we had some trouble with was adding a 3rd caregiver but customer support via text through this App helped us resolve quickly. Don’t let the earlier reviews of the app keep you from buying the Raz Memory Phone. It is awesome for keeping track of our dad who lives alone and likes to walk all over town every day! Thank you Raz Mobility!

### 5/5 — Genius

*2022-02-23, version 1.0*

Perfection for those with limited mobility. It’s as simple as typing 123; anyone can use it with ease.

### 4/5 — Best option i found

*2026-07-23*

Im guessing itll be different for each person but this helped an elderly friend be able to stay connected with close friends and neighbors much longer than had he had a normal phone, due to Alzheimers.

No app is perfect but this is well thought through and support is surprisingly sufficient.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2025-07-04, version 8.1.0*

The app has been amazing for my mother with dementia. There are a few quirks in the software, but other than a few minor annoyances it’s been a godsend.
