## What is RDCO Burn Day Status?

Burn Day is a companion app for the Joe Rich Fire Department's burnday.joerichfirerescue.ca — a fast, at-a-glance way to check whether open burning is permitted today, without digging through RDCO's own site.

FEATURES

• Today's Status — live Venting Index and PM2.5 readings for the Joe Rich area, matching RDCO's daily open-burning determination
• 8:15am Notification — get notified the moment burning is permitted, so you're not checking manually every morning during burn season
• Your Own Threshold — RDCO's own rule uses a Venting Index of 55; choose 65 in Settings if you'd rather apply a stricter personal bar
• Season History — a month-by-month calendar of every day's status going back through the season
• "Burn Day" Calendar Sync — write the season's status directly into a dedicated calendar on your device, alongside your other calendars
• Request Burn Permit — opens a ready-to-send email to RDCO with your name, address, phone, and email already filled in, if you've saved them
• Resources — the outdoor burning hotline, permit best-practices guides, and links back to the full website, all one tap away

PRIVACY

Burn Day collects nothing. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. If you choose to save your name, address, phone, or email to speed up permit requests, that information stays on your device only — it's never sent anywhere except into the one email you choose to send.

Built for the Joe Rich community and surrounding RDCO boumdaries.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.4 — 2026-10-25

• The burning season now follows RDCO's actual open and close dates — with a notification when the season opens or closes
• Status refreshes automatically whenever you open the app
• New Service Status in Settings with a 30-day history, plus a notice if data or notifications are ever delayed
• A thank-you screen after you leave a tip, your tip count in Settings, and Restore Tip History
• Share This App from Settings

### 1.1.3 — 2026-10-24

New "Support the Developer" section at the bottom of Settings — leave an optional $1.99 tip right in the app. Tips don't unlock anything; Burn Day stays free with no ads or subscriptions.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-10-23

What's New in 1.1.2
• New "Support the Developer" section at the bottom of Settings. If Burn Day helps you, you can now leave an optional $1.99 tip right in the app.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-10-07

Burn Day calendar entries now run from 10am to sunset each day, with that day's status, Venting Index and PM2.5 readings. Duplicate entries from earlier versions are cleaned up.

The status card shows "Resets at 8am" from dusk until 8am.

Sync Now shows when it's syncing and whether it finished or failed.

If calendar access was denied, Settings now offers a button to open iOS Settings and allow it.

The welcome screen is now a short swipeable walkthrough, and you confirm it before using the app.

New app icon.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-10-03

Added an "I Need a Permit" toggle in Settings — hide the request card if you already have one.

Notifications are now 3 options: Yes Only, Yes/No/?Status, or None — plus your own notification time (8:00am or later), and daily alerts now stack together in Notification Center.

New: Home Screen widget, an Apple Watch app with a complication, and Siri & Shortcuts support ("Is it a burn day").

New: Share button on the status card.

The status card now clearly shows "As of [date]" and flags data as "Outdated" if it isn't from today. Also now states "Burning is permitted after 10 am" and that a valid permit is still required.

Fixed: background notifications now respect your personal Venting Index threshold (65), not just RDCO's default.

Fixed: an early "data not published yet" check could occasionally block the day's real notification from arriving later.
