### 4/5 — Red Letter NT :(

*2025-08-26, version 11.0.8*

I've really been enjoying this app. Love the video book introductions and the reading plan. But I don't love the red letter versions of the gospels. I’ll continue with the plan and watching the videos, but will do the Bible reading elsewhere until we're through the gospels.

### 3/5 — It resets your progress if you don’t do it every single day.

*2025-05-30, version 11.0.5*

It’s resets your progress if you don’t do it every single day. I lost all my progress and now I have to restart all over again.

### 3/5 — Bible

*2025-03-02, version 9.2.3*

Hello! It wont let me submit a different version of the bible.

### 3/5 — Turn off closed captions ?

*2025-02-02, version 9.2.3*

HELP!! I love this App but at some point the closed captions have come on which are just so frustrating because they get in way of the visual… I’ve tried to turn closed captions off on my phone settings, but that doesn’t do it! I did try to go

### 3/5 — Love but needs some improvements

*2025-01-18, version 9.2.3*

I started this because my church is doing it together, and I love it! There are two things I wish were different. 1. There needs to be a dark mode so that I don’t burn my eyes out when I’m reading this in the dark of the winter morning
2. There is a bug where the first tab on the app is always open automatically when I open the app, even when I close it and reopen the app. It’s gotten a little annoying since getting past that section in the plan, and it would be nice if the app would remember where I left off and open that tab instead when I first open the app.

### 5/5 — Perfect Study Pace

*2025-01-07, version 9.2.3*

I love the bitesize chunks of scriptures that can easily be read every day. This is the first time I have gotten through the Bible because of it. Is there a way to turn off the closed captions on the videos? I didn’t see an option.

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2024-10-07, version 9.2.3*

I’m using this app to read through the Bible and it’s fantastic. I love the videos that go along with each new book. They sum up the Bible books perfectly and make it much easier to understand.

### 5/5 — Very effective app

*2024-07-06, version 9.2.3*

This app has gotten me to read through more of the Bible than everything else I’ve tried. The only feature that’s missing is dark mode! 😜

### 5/5 — Wow!

*2024-05-30, version 9.2.3*

I have been using the Read Scripture app for 5 years to read through the Bible. The Bible Project videos at the beginning of each book of the Bible are so helpful in making sense of The Bible as a whole. I love all the theme videos interspersed as well. So helpful in understanding The Bible as a unified story of God’s holiness and love.

### 5/5 — Find out for yourself

*2024-03-19, version 9.2.3*

First of all, I started watching The Bible Project videos and really learned a lot from them but, I wanted to actually read the Bible.

I ran across Read Scriptures while looking for a how to read the Bible plan. Immediately I recognized the Bible Project videos and that prompted me to download the Read Scriptures app.

This is an app that allows you to read the Bible from beginning to the end with helpful videos and read a Psalm each time. See how the Psalm flows with the chapters you just read. So often they mirror each other.

Bottom line I’m in the book of The Revelation and when I finish it will be the fifth time I read the whole Bible. It’s because of this app that I have even finished it once. Once I finish, I will start it over again using the app.

Thanks Crazy Love for your dedication to bringing this app so we can read the Bible and learn more about our Lord.

### 5/5 — Not working

*2023-12-20, version 9.2.3*

It’s a great app since updated it won’t open

### 5/5 — Beautifully made. Perfect.

*2023-10-31, version 9.2.1*

This app is perfect for those who need guidance on the Scriptures of the Bible and feel lost between its many contents. Each day is broken down into explanatory videos, the actual Scripture, and a Psalm/prayer and meditation part at the end. It has a plan for reading the entire Bible in less than a year (about 358 days I believe it was). On top of that, it’s an aesthetically pleasing app and it’s absolutely perfect. Exactly what I want in a Christian app. I have no words and no edits. I can say with confidence every Christian, whether new or experienced, young or old, would benefit from this app. Best Christian app I’ve tried by far.

### 3/5 — Bible Project

*2023-10-16, version 9.2.1*

Is this part of The Bible Project (with Tim Mackie)? I don’t see credit given to them, but have been watching and listening to them for years. This is straight up their work. Am I missing something? Love this app, but it’s important to give credit where credit is due, here and in the labs section. Can someone clarify for me?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Why mess with a good thing?

*2025-05-14, version 11.0.2*

I have been using this app, happily, for about 10 years. In the past few months, video captions were added — often masking words in the videos — with no way to turn off the captions. I adjusted by watching videos on BP’s website. Then, the app demanded an email address, which I don’t recall providing before. The app wouldn’t allow me to enter my address and blocked my access. So I deleted the RS app and replaced it with the Gideons Bible app. Sad the RS app is disintegrating, but as Ecclesiastes says, “To everything there is a season…” Thank you for a decade of service.

### 1/5 — Don’t get

*2025-05-04, version 11.0.1*

They changed something, now I can’t get in

### 1/5 — Once great, now useless.

*2025-05-02, version 11.0.1*

I am on the seventh time of reading through the Bible every year. I use the app along with other translations to study deeper every year. However, the latest update requires Internet access just to view your progress. As I spend many of my days traveling on airplanes, and this is where I do my daily reading, I now have no way to see what I should be reading each day. I have counted on this app for years, and it has been a great help to me and my family, but now it is completely useless for its intended purpose.

### 1/5 — ESV?

*2022-12-12, version 9.2.1*

I wrote a lengthy review revealing the untruths and misguided message of the ESV version, giving this app 1 star for not having the King James Version. That truth must have cut too deep because my review was deleted (who removed it, apple? They side with China, guess they don't mind protecting the devils image as well) This app could have been useful.. but no amount of convenience will ever make up for being steered astray spiritually. People, please buy a book comparing verses of the KJV to other versions, we must insist on getting the basics right, or our spiritual house is built on sand.

### 2/5 — USED TO LOVE NOW WONT OPEN

*2025-05-13, version 11.0.2*

I’m not sure what happened with this app but now I’m bummed! I was making progress then it asked me to enter my email address. Not sure if I ever had to do that before by the way. Then it totally LOST all my progress! Which is very annoying. There isn’t a link on the top of the Bible for bibledojo which is inconvenient. Noooooowwww it won’t even open! What happened?!?! What did you guys do!!!!!???!!!!

### 2/5 — Terrible Update

*2025-05-07, version 11.0.2*

I’ve been using this app to read the Bible for about 5 years now. It’s fine, and it’s the version I prefer (ESV) but I don’t really use all the features. I like that I can select a start date in order to read the Bible through in a year, and that it’s handier than lugging my heavy Bible around. However, the latest update suddenly deleted all my progress for this year. I could deal with that, but I’ve noticed there are now multiple places where a verse just cuts off. For example, a verse in Isaiah that I’m pretty sure should say “strong drink” became “stror“. Another verse became “…Sheol n”. This is NOT ok, and makes me want to find a new app.

### 2/5 — I’ll Miss it, bye

*2025-04-27, version 11.0.1*

I had to delete the app. You’re requiring an email to use it now. I’m not sure why, but
I appreciated the years of using it, but I have to say bye.

### 2/5 — App keeps Crashing

*2021-07-19, version 9.1.7*

I love this app but I think it needs an update because it keeps crashing on my phone. I have an iPhone 11. I hope this problem can be fixed!

### 2/5 — Awesome!

*2016-01-03, version 1.0*

We were so excited to get the email telling us about the bible reading plan and app, but the app does not work :( we are still going to do the yearly plan though! Thanks guys☺️

### 3/5 — Read Scripture--please add a features

*2026-06-30, version 11.0.8*

1) I am finding it hard to navigate to a specific book/passage verses. Maybe I have not figured that out but seems hidden.
2) Additionally, it would be great to have a calendar for the Common Lectionary readings for a given day, such that you can easily click on those readings. Thanks!! Love the concept.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent for daily devotional

*2026-05-02, version 11.0.8*

I’ve been using this app for several years now, it is very helpful in maintaining a daily bible reading.

If I had one complaint, it would be that each daily reading is paired with a date. I didn’t start reading on Jan 1st, so whenever I open the app, it goes to that days reading, even though I’m technically several months ahead in reading. And it’s kind of annoying because I have to scroll to where I am, rather than it remembering where I am.

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-02-17, version 11.0.8*

This chronological flow with titles for major events makes the Bible so much more digestible! Thank you so much.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2026-01-10, version 11.0.8*

Wonderful way to read the Bible. Really enjoying the format and the daily readings. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Love this app! And…

*2025-11-16, version 11.0.8*

I really appreciate this app. I found it during this surge in AI and have found that reading the Bible through this app combined with having AI to ask all my questions to (with a deep critical eye to its responses) has really opened my eyes about the Bible and completely shifted my relationship with scripture. I’m also able to piece together historical details and really get a sense of biblical times and God’s purpose and intentions. I feel this is really important in today’s world where god and the Bible are really being trivialized.

There are a couple of things I wish for: 1-a scroll feature on the side so I can see how much of the section is left to read.
2-the ability to check off chapters as I read them. I get that these chunks are meant to be read in one sitting but life means i usually have to break it up more than that. Not to mention, I really go in with AI and have some deep and specific questions so it takes me longer anyway. So I’d like to not have to scroll through 4 chapters m trying to remember my place each time.

### 5/5 — Reinvigorated

*2025-11-08, version 11.0.8*

This app has made reading the Bible interesting and digestible to me again. I got lost in the weeds for several years. This app is like a beacon of light a city set on a hill. Very grateful

### 5/5 — Fantastic Quiet Time Plan!

*2025-05-18, version 11.0.2*

I found going through this such a significant step in my faith with my understanding of the whole Bible! It takes you through the whole Bible chronologically which gives a really good understanding of the overall story of God and His people which I think is essential for every Christian to know. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Access to app

*2025-05-09, version 11.0.2*

I’m having as dprovons and Alisha Diane. My email never gets a code. Help!!!
I’m getting behind on my readings!

### 5/5 — Can’t access

*2025-05-04, version 11.0.1*

Was loving the daily reading of through a year. Then I had to put in my email today to continue reading. When the key board comes up to enter, then I can’t hit submit. Now I can’t use this app because of this 😢

### 5/5 — Latest Update lost all my progress

*2025-04-02, version 11.0.1*

Love this app and use it almost daily but the update a few days ago required me to enter my email address for the first time in a very long time (or possibly ever) and it reset all my completed progress. I was about to finish the Old Testament in a few days. Is there a way to restore the history of your reading progress?

### 5/5 — Life Changing

*2025-02-15, version 9.2.3*

I have been a Christian all my life, attended Wheaton college and studied the Bible. That to say, reading the Bible isn’t something new to me. After a season of walking away from God, my wife and I decided to read the Bible together all the way through. She was a new believer and I was wanting to come home. This app and the accompanying videos were a powerful tool for us to read the Bible and experience God. Thank you so much for putting this together. We have been financially giving to the Bible Project ever since. There content in this app is powerful for a first time reader, and for a life long reader. I can’t thank you enough.
